I'm planning to upgrade the crossovers in my pair of Forte II's and Academy center channel. I've read plenty on the forum to know that I'm in for a huge improvement. I know that Bob Crites and Chris Munson (aka popbumper) both offer great looking upgrades, but I'm trying to determine what differences there are (if any) between the two as far as sound is concerned. Has anyone had the chance to do an A/B comparison or is there a way to explain the differences I could expect through their use of different materials (such as which caps are used, etc.)? I would like to do all three crossovers at once. Bob, have you made crossovers for the Academy as well? Thanks for your input!

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get the RC-7 but I'm VERY happy to hear that you got your money back. I was burned twice on eBay for higher priced items and I'm very leary of buying anything at high prices on there anymore. I was able to find an Academy center channel on here within the first day I became a forum member. I ended up buying it and the transaction was fantastic. Awesome communication, the speaker shipped before I even sent payment, and I still keep in contact with him regarding my new HT goodies. It was just nice to be able to trust someone on the forum. I'd keep looking on here for your center channel. Good luck and hopefully you'll find one and have the same great experience as I had! Shawn

I actually found a pair of Black 2.5's on Audiogon that should be arriving some time this week. I can't wait to have everything hooked up and have a listen for the first time. I'll post after they arrive and let you know how everything sounds!

I have the beginnings of a great HT setup, a pair of Forte II's as mains and an Academy center channel. My room is quite small and there is no room at all for another large set of floorstanding speakers to use as surrounds. My thought was to use some KG 2.2's or 2.5's as surrounds because they could be wall mounted or set on a shelf. Are these a good match for the Forte II's and the academy center? Right now I'm using an older Yamaha receiver, and I'm looking into getting an outlaw 7125 amp to power all these new speakers. Any thoughts on the KG's would be appreciated. Also, if they are a good match and anyone has a pair of black veneer ones, let me know as well!

I am in the market for a new A/V receiver and I've narrowed my search to two models, the Marantz SR-8100 and the Denon AVR-4306. Both are 130 Watts per channel, have similar HDMI switching capabilities, and are compatible with an iPod as well. I am wondering if anyone has first hand experience with either of these receivers (or their similar counterparts) with Forte II speakers. I'm pretty sure I would be happy with either, and the prices are very close as well, so I'm looking to make a decision based on experience since I won't be able to find a store that has my speakers to test out either of the receivers. I recently came upon a good deal for a pair of Forte II's. When talking about stereo equipment with my boss, he told me that he had a set that he bought right out of college in '89 but he doesn't use them anymore. I jumped on the offer and got them for $400. Now I'm trying to find a good center channel to match these guys, but the Academy is so hard to come by that I have been considering other options. My original plan was to get a set of Axiom's for all 5 channels. How do you feel their VP150 center channel would pair up with my new Forte II's? They have three 5.25" aluminum woofers and two 1" titanium tweeters. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
