  1. I have found speaker placement made a big difference with my LaScalas ...when I acquired my K=horns I was forced to learn how to adjust room acoustics through use of diffusion, reflection and absorption. A lot of reading on the net and experimenting with materials in the room. Bad acoustics can make a great speaker sound bad.
  2. Omni ceiling mounts ...the Klipsch KT-DS surrounds have screw holes to match them. I got them when I purchased the surrounds from a local Nobody Beats the Wiz that went out of business. The KT-DS is designed to be mounted out from the wall on both sides of the listener with the dipole speakers facing front and rear. They were designed for THX Dolby prologic and produce an enveloping relatively non-directional surround soundfield.

    Hope to have pictures soon
  4. I bought an LH10 for around $500. on ubid a while back. It carries the full Klipsch warranty. I liked it so much I bought a second for about the same price. These were discontinued due to production problems (air leaks) so I would not buy one from other than an authorized Klipsch dealer. They were made to go with the reference series, I think (although they are labeled "signature series" on their boxes.
  5. Use the heritage series speakers(LaScalas and Heresys)together. Don't mix them with the others or you have a sonic mismatch. Use the LaScalas as left and right front ...probably best in corners but depends on room acoustics ... experiment .... Center could be a LaScala or one or two Heresys ... four Heresys as surrounds will probably work well ...hang them high perhaps angled slightly downward ...again you must experiment due to room acoustics .... I use 2 Klipschorns, 4 LaScalas and the components from two Heresys (above and below my TV monitor in a custom built cabinet) ... had to do a lot of experimentation ....ended up with La Scalas stacked with upper set angled forward and serving as surround/dsp speakers with the bottom pair angled towards and reflecting off of back wall in a similar sized room to yours. Unbelievable sound! The Heritage speakers are much, much cleaner than the subs you list so I would suggest using the subs only for the .1 LFE effects on movies. You probably will find the sound is better without them for music ,,,my K-horns have the cleanest bass imaginable ...very natural; very real ...I use the discontinued Klipsch LF-10 subs for my LFEs. Can not comment on the amps because I use an Outlaw 1050 6.1 receiver which I love.
  6. The pronto is a great, but pricey, toy. Bought mine on ebay for about $300. with charger. I don't think there is much it can not handle and allows for a great deal of creativity since it interfaces with computers.
  7. RS-3s are best but are sold in pairs; RC-3 would be second choice. Its best to use speakers that are part of an acoustically matched set.
  8. The KT=LCR was part of the now discontinued Klipsch THX certified home theater system which consisted of 3 kt-lcrs for the left, center and right channels, two dipole surrounds and either the SW12 II or SW15II subwoofer. The entire system retailed for about $5000. with the kt-lcr's at $500. ea. I have the whole system which I got at a fraction of the cost when a local Klipsch authorized dealer went out of business. I restored the banged up and damaged parts. Klipsch sent me replacement speakers and repaired the blown subs amp for free even paying for shipping both ways! I think the system was slightly overpriced due to the costs connected with THX certification . Also the surrounds had to be hung from the ceiling that, while producing an excellent effect, required the purchase of additional hardware and were heavy and difficult to hang. The system is great for DVDs and I have added RS-3s (comparable speakers)for the rear (6.1) channel and the sound is excellent! If you need more info, please contact me.
  9. Its hard enough to find a woman who will tolerate this stuff. Impossible to find one with a real interest. But you have! Hold on to her ...sounds like true love to me.
  10. Its interesting to read the reviews of Klipsch Heritage speakers on audioreview.com. They tend to fall into two categories .... love them or hate them. They range from one fellow who has his old Klipschorns in his garage because, while his new $92,000 speakers are SLIGHTLY better, he still likes the sound of his Khorns from time-to-time! To those who claim that Khorns/ La Scalas, etc. are barely fit to be used as PA speakers. I did not like my La Scalas when I first hooked them up ... I had to find the right room placements for them. Then, I loved them! My Khorns sounded terrible when I first got them, until I learned about room acoustics and acoustical treatments. Now I love them. If I had $92,000 laying around I would still buy my old Khorns and use the $90,500 I would have saved to also buy a Mercedes. In my opinion the two products are similar in quality.

    6.1

The 6 in 6.1 is for a rear channel. I am using two outlawaudio.com 1050 6.1 receivers in two systems. One receiver drives a modification of the now discontinued Klipsch THX system with two Klipsch Reference RS-3s (very similar to the THX speakers) as the rear channel (one would have done it but they are sold in pairs). The surround effect is noticeably enhanced by the addition of a rear channel. My other 6.1 system uses two Klipschorns with 4 La Scalas and two sets of Heresy components for the center channel in a cabinet I built which holds a 32" TV with mid & tweeter horns on top and bottom of the monitor all atop the two woofers in a big enclosure on the floor. Both sound fantastic and both use Klipsch sub woofers for the .1 LFEs and in case of the THX for regular bass, as well. I use a pair of the now discontinued Klipsch LH10s with the Heritage system and a Klipsch SW12II & a KSW15 with THX system. They both sound fantastic with movies although I greatly prefer the old heritage speakers for music.
  12. I have a Klipsch Heritage 6.1 system - all bought on a budget used off of ebay - I have two Klipschorns - 4 LaScalas and the components of two more built into a custom cabinet with the horns on the top and bottom of my 32" component video TV monitor - all atop a cabinet with the two woofers - I use two Klipsch LH10 subs (bought for a "steal" on ubid)for .1 low frequency effects. I drive this all with an Outlaw 1050 6.1 receiver. It took me some time to get the room acoustics just right for the Khorns and find the right places for the La Scalas but I got the right combo and I feel I'm in hi-fi heaven. What sound! The speakers cost me $3950. total - they are all 70s vintage (except the LH10s of course)and will, I'm sure last longer than me. What a great investment! I could sell them tomorrow for as much or more than I paid for them and sure that will be just as true in the future - my car depreciated that much or more... in its first and each following year. I'm getting fabulous pleasure and entertainment for very little. How can you lose with these great old Paul Klipsch masterpieces?
  13. I have two Home theater systems made up of Klipsch speakers - One is their now discontinued THX home theater system augmented for 6.1 with RS-3s to which I have now added a KSW-15 for LFE; the other is made up of Khorns and LaScallas with two LF-10s. The former is all set and quite impressive; the latter I'm still tweaking. The old Heritage speakers have a clarity that is amazing, they are really great for music but kind of bulky for Home Theater but I'm determined to get them positioned/ adjusted right.
