  1. I have a Mitsubishi 62" DLP and I use an OmniMount CCH1 center channel shelf. They come in silver or black. They are adjustable to work on standard TV's and DLP's.You can buy one for $15-25. http://omnimount.com/consumer/product.aspx?ProductId=ad90ae4a-a012-47db-9bdb-1c3318a4fdf9
  2. According to the "History of the Klipsch Cornwall, Cornwall II, Cornwall III" on KlipschCorner.com the K-55-V, made by Atlas, was the primary mid-range driver used from around 1960 until 1981. The K-56 mid-range driver, Electrovoice 1828, was used for a short period in 1974 as a temporary replacement because the supply of K-55-V drivers was interupted. I can't comment on the differences between the two drivers. Here is the link to the history: http://www.klipschcorner.com/special/CornwallTimeline.aspx
  3. The Cornwalls are in great shape, I oiled the cabinets since I took the attached picture. The speakers sound great, I think, but my system and my room need some help. Currently I'm running a Carver C-4000 preamp and a Carver M-1.5t amp. I need to pull the preamp and clean some noisy pots and switches. I'll probably hook up my Denon AVR-5700 while I'm cleaning the Carver. I also have an Adcom GFA-2535 amp that I haven't used in quite some time. I'll need to decide which combination I want to use. My room is approximately 17'x13'x9' with hardwood floor, a pool table, a large picture window and 2 more windows on either side of a fireplace. None of the windows have window covering now. I have wooden horizontal blinds for them but will probably want to add drapes to cut down on the liveness of the room. I may decide to dump the pool table and convert the room into a listening room even though my kids don't like that idea. It should be an interesting project. Here is a picture of one of the Cornwall II's.
  4. On the AVR 247 it looks like it is labeled "sub Woofer" output. This output is LFE "low frequency energy" specifically for a subwoofer. You connect it to the LFE line input on the KSW-100 sub with an RCA cable. Your AVR manual should give you some setup examples.
  5. Very nice wall of voodoo man cave and if the wife likes it that's even better!
  6. It really depends on what you are trying to build and your budget. If it is a starter 5.1 surround system for home theater there are many inexpensive 5.1 receivers. If you have an HDTV set already and cable or satelite HDTV service make sure you get a receiver that supports HDMI switching. As far as your speakers go they are not perfectly matched to work together but are nice sounding speakers. I'd probably use the SB-3's as fronts and the KG 2.5's as rears. The KSW-100 sub can be hooked up several different ways depending on the receiver you buy, the most likely hook up is with a line level LFE connection. You will need to find a decent center channel speaker to complete the system As for the Niles speaker selector you really won't need that unless you plan to put speakers in multiple rooms of your house. Hope this helps!
  7. Billybob, I got your email and sent you the original 2 files unzipped, also sent an Excel file saved for Excel 5.0 and Win 95. Let me know if these work for you.
  8. Are you using a Mac or a PC, should open fine on a PC. The Excel is 2003, if you are running an older version I could down rev the file for you. The pdf opens fine with Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 on my PC. If you are having trouble with the Zip file I could email them to you. Let me know if I can help.
  9. While I was educating myself about Klipsch speakers, mostly Heritage Series, model numbers, components and specs I created an Excel spreadsheet for quick reference. It isn't complete by any means but you may find it helpful. Attached is a Zip file that contains both an Excel version and an Adobe Acrobat version for those that are Excel challenged. There are hyperlinks in both files that will take you to the Klipsch website page for each model listed. I may decide to update it with other models and more specs later, comments are welcome, I hope others find it useful. Klipsch Models and Specs 1.zip
  10. Here is a picture of the CW's at the friends house who picked them up for me. The finish will need some work, it's dry and faded. The cabinets are immaculate, no nicks, scratches or stains!
  11. Well the trip was a success! My friend bought the KSW-15 and KLF-C7, I managed to restrain myself and not buy the other speakers whe had for sale, and I picked up my 87 Cornwall II's. We didn't get home until 9:30 PM, there wer lots of people doing post holiday shopping for things other than Klipsch speakers! What's up with that, should be illegal! I did a quick temporary hookup last night to give them a listen, wow! I'll post more pictures later once I get them hooked up properly. Here is a picture of the SRV (Speaker Retrieval Vehicle) loaded with KSW and KLF in the front, and CW2's in the back.
  12. I'm leaving this morning to pick up a pair of Cornwall's that I bought last week. I'm leaving at * AM, woke up at 5 AM, just a little excited! I saw them on CL, called the seller and bought them on the phone. I had a good friend close to the seller pick them up for me. They are model C2BR, serial numbers 8727327 and 328. Based on the sn they are 1987. The seller bought them new for $1400, stained them, put them in his formal LR and has only moved them once to replace the carpet. Based on research it seems that the Cornwall I's are more desirable with better quality components and craftsmanship, but these will be a good addition for me. I'm guessing I will need to recap the crossovers as a minimum. Also seems that some suggest replacing the tweeters. I'm guessing I'll listen for a bit and then decide what to do. I'm in Nevada City, CA and I'm picking the speakers up in San Jose, 3 hours away. While in the Bay Area my friend who is helping me get the speakers is going to look at a KSW-15 and a KLF-C7 to add to his Chorus II's for a HT system. The guy selling these has several other Klipsch speakers, I hope I don't get carried away and buy more speakers! My friends already think I have a speaker disorder and need professional help. It should be a fun trip!
  13. Why wouldn't the La Scala horn loading produce lower base? Can you elaborate on your statement from above post? "The horn loaded bass in LaScala does not have the bass extension of a Chorus, but this is due to the dimensions of the LaScala bass horn."
  14. I'm looking for the same thing. When I bought mine they had 4 holes in the bottom, the guy said he had stands on them before but threw them away.
  15. This is my first post to these forums, they look very interesting. I have always been an avid Klipsch fan, ever since the late 70's when I was studying Audio Engineering and attended my first AES. I actually met Paul Klipsch at the convention and got one of his famous BS pins. I ran across a pair of used Khorns being sold by the deceased owners wife. She knows very little about them other than they are very large, and expensive. She doesn't know if she has any of the original paperwork and isn't sure when they were purchased. She believes her husband purchased them new. I went to look at them but had difficulty inspecting them closely as they are buried in her garage. They appear to be in good shape with minor scratches. It appears that one of the serial number labels has been removed. The Khorn with a label was difficult to read in the dark garage. I wrote down what I thought was the serial number so I could determine the age using your awesome decoder ring. The number makes no sense at all, it is 16455-6. There was also a 51039 WO on the label, I gather the WO means walnut oiled. There was also what I thought was a part number 0900093110. The crossover is an AK-3 which from what I have read leads me to believe these are 1990 or newer, or they were updated. I need to go back and take a better look and see if I can hook them up. I really don't need these but I really want them, always have wanted a pair. I don't have the perfect room for them, so they may force me to do a major renovation or buy a new house :-) Can anyone give me some insight to the age of the set and some guidance on what they might be worth? Thanks!
