And I recently went back to Klipsch mains and center so the Zu Omen Defs and center are up for sale as well. I do have the original boxes so shipping is possible with them. Please pm me if you have any interest.

    Thanks.

  2. Well just an update on the water rings. I went with the Howards "Restore-a-Finish" followed by Howards "Feed-n-Wax". They now look great. I also did a set of Chorus IIs in "oak clear" and they came out amazing as well. Again all, thanks for the tips!

  3. I had a set of minty HII's and they were not my cup of tea. I thought that a sub was a need with them and overall they were just too in my face. I have a set of Q's and love them. For music such as rock, blues and jazz I do not feel the need or want for a sub. I feel from top to bottom it is a much more balanced speaker.

  4. Curious question. All I have read on the CF-3 and CF-4 version topics seem to lean towards the version 1s being move prefered by the crowd here. I have read that they are more geared toward the audiophile and the later versions were set up more toward the typical Klipsch sound. If I have read this correctly, and all of us here(most anyway) like the traditional Klipsch sound, why aren't the later series more prefered?

  5. I ran a set of the RS-3s in an older setup and they were teriffic. I later swaped out for a set of the KSP-6 which would be considered an upgrade and closer in design to the RS52. I sold the KSPs and went bact to the RS-3 as I felt they just provided a better surround effect. I wouldn't think there would be much to gain if anything.

  6. Well I have read through the posted specs for the KG fininshes. My guess is that it changed as the series progressed.

KG 1,3, and 4 are listed as "Oak Oil"

KG 1.2, 2.2, 3.2, 4.2 and 5.2 are listed as "Oak, Oil, Oak Clear" my guess is that somehow the comma between Oak and oil is misplaced and it should read "Oak Oil, Oak Clear".

KG 1.1, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5 are listed as just "Light Oak". On all finishes for the 5.5 there is no mention of an oil option.

Maybe a call to Klipsch is in order?

  7. A lot of good ideas. I only know the finish is called "light oak", no more details are provided on the website. I think I will start with the baking soda since I have it here. I have enough other projects going on so that I don't want to open the can of worms!

    Thanks again everyone!

  8. I picked up a set of KG 5.5s last night from the local CL. They are "Light Oak" and are in great condition except for small water rings on both of the tops. Are there any known ways to remove the rings?

    Thanks!

  9. I have been looking at capacitor options for replacement in the KLF-10 series. I believe the originals have a 10% tolerence rating and what I am looking at has a 3% tolerance rating the originals are 1.75, 6.0 and 8.0MHs. Would I be OK going with 1.8, 6.2 and 8.2 instead?

The 1.75 and 6.0 are in series in the high pass and the the 8.0 is paralled to the woofer in the low pass.

    Thank you!

  10. I picked up a second set of KLF-10s and would like to refresh the crossovers. I did the previous set with a BC cap kit and also put in and Erse Super Q inductor, 1.5mh, 14 awg, .084 dcr in the woofer circuit and feel it improved the bottom end. After much reading on this site and others I am curious about the "air coil" option. The 10s cross over at 2.3k which is much higher than the typical 3-way and from I have read it appears that the higher the crossover the greater result you get from the air coil. For the lower freqs it appears to be more about dcr. The larger awg Northcreek air inductors are very close in dcr to the iron cores.

So, for a 2-way speaker that crosses over at 2.3k iron or air core?

It is pushed by a emotiva 200wpc, classic rock, blues and jazz.

    Thanks for the opinions
