  1. If you want the most future proof reciever with HDMI switch and pass through and all that jazz I highly recommend the Denon 2807. You can get it for about 900 shipped from oncallcell.com which is an authorized reseller but you need to call and ASK for that price. Its not listed at that price. www.jr.com will also sell for 900 shipped for that price IF YOU ASK them to. Tell them you were referred. Both are authorized online retailed for denon and the warranty will be honored. If you go to the AVS forums you can read 1,000,000 pages of praise for this reciever. I own it and love it. I think its 7 channel with A B so 9 speakers with HDMI pass through/switching and 125 watts/chan.
  2. I guess you COULD put RS52s on a stand but they are meant to be 2ft higher than ear level and mounted on the wall with a drywall stud or some other mechanism. I have RS52s as side surrounds and they are great and also a little more forgiving on placement because of the dispersion technology. For rear surrounds you generally want mono pole speakers like RB -61s or RB-51s or RB 41s. DO NOT GET 7.1 speakers until last as they will add the least amount of sound coolness factor to your setup. Honestly you need the front 3 speakers for sure. Surrounds are optional but add so much immersion. Then the next optional component is a sub to bring it all together and really add some personality and impact. Get the BEST Center and fronts that you can afford. But make sure they are timber matched. i.e. don't get an RC-64 and RB61s. I screwed myself over and was ticked off for years because my center didn't match the fronts and it just sounded awkward. I really love my RC-62. Its the best bang for the buck I think. Then for fronts I'd go with RB-81s if you like bookshelves or RF-82s if not. Just make sure they are from the correct series. Dont mix and match for the fronts and centers.
  3. Very clean looking little theater. I likes! But I definately agree that your speakers are toed in too far to the point that your probably hearing the rights on the left and the lefts on the right. Try angling them out a tad
  4. I was really excited for the OP however I was very sad to hear you purchased HD DVD player.... Careful how much you spend on this format. It won't be around for long.
  5. I went with HSU VTF3 MK3 becuase it was the absolute best bang for the buck. For 650 bucks this sub is absolute killer. My room is about 15x22x8 and this sub is more than I'll ever need and hits down to 10-12hz @ 100db at 1/3rd of the gain and -3 on my reciever. Unbelieveable deep bass. Its not even the sound its the feeling. Also HSu customer service warranty is top notch. On the flipside SVS is also known to be just as good with the customer service and build quality. However they are a bit pricier and do not offer as much bang for the buck. Not to say that SVS doesn't make fantastic subs jut that the HSU VTF3 MK3 @ $650 easily competes with $1200+ SVS and otehr brand subs. I love my Mark III. I am not a fan of Klipsch subs although I love the speakers. I run 2 x RF-82s, 1 x RC-62, 2 x RS-52s, and 2 x RB-61s and the Mark 3 and the sound is incredible.
  6. I was thinking about picking up these stands for some RB61s I am probably getting for rear 7.1 surrounds. I have never had bookshelf speakers on stands before. Can any of you tell me how easily these things tip over and how securely the speakers are situated on top of the stands. Are these things dangerous? http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/ProductDetails/line/speakerFoundations/pcat/natural/modelCode/NF36/ This is the model I am considering for RB 61s.
  7. I definately think the RF82s are better than my RF3s. If anyone wants to purchase some used RF3s in the milwaukee area let me know.
  8. I just got my RF-82s last night to replace the RF-3s I had for fronts. I moved the RF3s to the back for Rear Surround duty but they did not pass the wife acceptability test.... I am not so sure i like them either back there. So.... I think I am going to sell them. However I still would very much like 7.1 speakers. I was looking and I think Klipsch bookshelves would work out very well on stands. Would you guys go with the RB-61 or RB-81s for Rear Surrounds? Also on Klipsch's site they have some neat black stands under there bookshelves. Where do I find stands like this and how do they mount to Klipsch Bookshelf speakers? Currently I have RF-82 Fronts, RC-62 Center, RS52 Side Surrounds, and an HSU 3.3 Subwoofer.
  9. First thing I would do is return all that monster cable crap and save yourself hundreds of dollars. Buy all your cables from www.monoprice.com Its pretty much the same cost at only 1:10th the price. that should give you a little more money to work with. I want to cry every time I see someone spend $120 on a digital HDMI cable when you can get very nice ones with net jackets and gold connectors for 5-15 bucks depending on size.... I agree definately stick with Reference if you can even if you have to go lower in the line. Stay away from synergy as it will leave you wanting more soon enough.
  10. Hello! Currently I have: 2 x RF-3s 1 x RC-62 2 x RS-52s 2 x KSB 1.1s 1 x HSU VTF3 Mark III Sub I was thinking about picking up some RF-82s to replace my RF-3s. If I do this what do you guys think about moving the RF-3s to replace the crummy KSB 1.1s? Has anyone done floorstanders as Rear Surrounds or Surrounds? Also if I did do this what would I do for crossovers and speaker configuration?(Large or Small)
