  1. Noobee,

Welcome to the forum. How much are the Quartets listed for in your area? I picked up a pair a few months ago and was taken back how smooth and dynamic they are. The bass is pronounced and the mids are to die for. Very smooth with the tractrix horn. I have listened to them with an Onkyo/B&K combo, a Luxman/Denon combo, and a vintage Marantz receiver. All three combinations were very pleasing to my ears with the Marantz having the slight edge.

  2. Tomscott,

Welcome to the forum. Give your posts some time to be answered before you post in another section. The Home Theater section in this case is the more appropriate section.

With that said, the C2 should work just fine with your F1's. Being that over 60% of movie content is funneled through the center channel, having an upgraded center is not a bad thing. You are staying in the Synergy line so you should not have any voice matching issues.

  3. Wuzzzer,

Don't worry the fire is not gone. It looks like BF is having to carry the load again like in Green Bay. If the offensive line shows up next week and AP is patient and starts letting his eyes lead the way instead of just his shoulders and helmet, the Vikes will recover.

  4. Welcome to the forum.

I can't help you with an A-B comparison, but for what it's worth, the QIII's were the "gateway drug" that started my addiction to Klipsch. Awesome little setup that is built well and has a lot of sound for the size. I once had them set up in a 16' x 30' room with a 10/12 foot stepped ceiling. Though no where near the quality of sound that the RF-63's and RC-64 produce(which now occupy that same space), the QIII's paired with an RW-10d sub weren't too shabby.

For this price you can't go wrong.

  5. Wuzzzer,

I was just messing with you. Many members on the forum have expressed the same opinion about the Onkyo 2-channel performance. I just wanted to say that stereo listening on my system dramatically improved when I added my B&K amp and then even better when I added the DV-SP1000 player. "Sucked" is a word usually set aside for Bose products. No offense to Bose lovers on this forum. LOL.

    PS

For what it's worth, of all the systems I have at home, the Marantz 2252b/ Quartet or Forte combo sounds the best.

  6. But really, you have to buy the upper level Onkyo's to get the better DAC's, power supplies, and toroidal transformer. Find a used 905 or 906 if you want Onkyo.

I changed my comment to make it clear what I was trying to say(better DAC's,power supplies, toroidal transformer together in one unit). Sorry about the confusion.

  7. For music I'd highly suggest looking elsewhere than Onkyo. I had an 805 for a while. It was awesome for home theater but sucked the big one for music. Everything sounded like it was in mono, virtually no stereo separation.

    Wuzzzer,

Those are harsh words for Onkyo. My 705 and B&K combo sound great for HT and stereo. Your 805 has/had a better preamp section than the 705, maybe with your Emo added you might just change your mind(I guess you will never know). LOL

  8. Awesome speakers. Everything got better when I added an amp(200w/ch) to power my 63's and 64. It looks like th SC-05 has a very nice amp section. With that said, only a handfull of receivers on the market really have enough high current grunt to handle lower impedences like the 63's 2.8 ohm dips. Many will suggest adding an amp to the equation to minimize the taxing of the amps in a receiver. Even adding a 2 channel amp should make a noticeable difference in the way the sound hits your ears.

I don't know of any smallish subs out there that can reach as far south as 15hz. Maybe others on the forum will chime in about that.

  9. I can tell you that I am very pleased with my B&K Reference 4430(200w/ch) powering my RF-63's and RC-64. Lots of impact with HT and for 2 channel music. Plenty of power reserves to handle the 2.8 ohm dips. Barely even gets warm during continuous high spl sessions. I also have recently aquired a NAD 925THX five channel amp(125w/ch in 5 channel and 200w/ch in stereo). The NAD also is warm sounding with plenty of power on tap.

There are many different tastes on this forum with other brands like Sunfire, Rotel, Parasound, Emotiva, etc. mentioned often.

  10. should not be rated more than 150 rms which the 82's are. wouldnt it damage the speakers ? forgot to mention...my guest room size is 24ft x 21ft. have a nice day. Kiran

    Welcome to the forum.

The RF-82's are very high efficient speakers. With that said you will probably never pump more than 50 watts into those drivers continuously and even at peak levels not surpass 100 watts often. Keep in mind if you are planning on adding an outboard amp, your Onkyo 604 does not have preouts.

  11. 7th-dan black belt in aikido. And he began his adult life as an aikido instructor in Japan. He was the first foreigner to operate an aikido dojo in Japan.

He has made a career as a martial artist, an actor, a recording artist, and a law enforcement officer. Hes been a huge environmentalist and animal activist.

Seriously, wheres the phony in all of that?

True he is not the poster child of physical fitness nor is he Al Pacino, but his accomplishments as a master aikido instructor are the real deal.

  12. I am looking at a Marantz 2252B.

Great choice. I am currently using the 2252b to power my Quartet's in a carpeted 13x13 room with curtains and a queen bed with all the coverings. I mention this because in a square room you need acoustic dampening to minimize the echos and such. If I used one word to describe the sound I would use utopia. Absolutely no negatives at all in my opinion.

As far as up keep, I would suggest you clean all the pots and dedustify(made up word I think) the whole insides. I took mine to my tech guy and he did a complete once over and now the tuner sounds about as good as playing cd's. You will be very pleased with the KG4 and Marantz combination.

  13. It was a game filled with emotion. I cried like a baby along with Timbo when we simultaneously realized that he wasn't 'the one' that the press has had us believe all year long.

Let me say just one thing. You will not find a more dedicated, selfless, respectful, competitive, leader with such class as Tim Tebow. I would put him in the same league as Roger Staubach and Kurt Warner as role models. JMO.
