  1. Just bought an Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver Sunday @ CC for what seamed like a one day only sale of $549.99. MSRP for this baby is $799.99. Unmatched number of features @ this price-point: 100wt,1.3 HDMI w/3 in 1 out,Audyssey MULTEQ XT,XM & Sirius ready,THX Select2, plus too many more to list. Also has two built in coolant fans on the bottom to help address the heat issues that seem to plague Onkyo a/v receivers. I didn't think my Klipsch speakers could sound any better than they do. I was dead wrong. This receiver brings out a fullness in my RVX-42 system that I did not think existed. For those of you who are not sure if an Onkyo will mate well with Klipsch, I think this new generation of Onkyo's might need a second look. Thanks, One man's opinion
  2. You snooze , you looze. Gone. Somebody else grabbed them. I learned something else besides the obvious, great deals to be found at pawn shops. Bill
  3. Thanks for all the input. I think I will go back and try to snag them. It is possible they will go even lower(I don't think they know what they have). Bill
  4. I found a pair of KG 5.5 in light oak at a pawn shop for $149.00 a pair. They seem to be in good condition except for a few scuffs. How about that price, should I buy? Thanks, Bill
  5. Thanks to all for the input. I know it all boils down to what my ears here. I just wanted my investment to be well spent with few or no regrets. Keep the knowledge flowing, Bill
  6. Anyone heard anything good or bad about the Yamaha RX-V861 or the new Onkyos 605,805 etc?. Bill
  7. After 60+ views of this post, only one opinion. Please offer up some expert advice. Greatly appreciated, Bill
  8. Thanks for the 1 and only recommendation. I have not had any experience with HK. I will do some research. Thanks, Bill
  9. Got answer from user on HT forum. Thanks
  10. Thanks for reply. Now I am waiting for it to format. Bill
  11. Is there a way to display my current HT setup automatically when I post or do I have to type it every time? Thanks, Bill
  12. Can someone tell me how when I post to display my current HT system so I don't have to type it every time? I am just learning how to navigate this forum better. Thanks
  13. I will be upgrading my receiver very soon. I hear different brands have signature characteristics ie--Onkyo run hot, Pioneer quality not what it used to be, Denon confusing to set up, Yamaha bright sound. I am partial to Onkyo---sound,build quality, ease of use. I like what I have read about the Onkyo TX-SR674. Considering waiting for the release of the TX-SR705---100wt,1.3 HDMI,THX select. Any suggestions? Budget: $750.00. Thanks, Bill
  14. With that advice followed, should I do the same with the volume controls(sub set to max and let receiver control that also)? Thanks
  15. I think I have it set correctly. I have 3 RVX-42 for LCR and 2 RSX-4 for surrounds. The bottom of the range for this setup is 92Hz. I have an older Onkyo receiver (HT-R500) with bass management settings of 80 100 120HZ with the setting @120HZ and set to small. RW-10d set @ a 100Hz (w/95 Hz an option or is that too close to the bottom) crossover, therefore letting the sub perform the bass managment. Is it better to let the receiver do the crossover? If so please offer some recommendations. I will have to say in my opinion that the system sounds great but I am only a novice. Thanks for this forum, I have learned a lot. Bill
  16. Considering buying an RSW-12 at CompUSA(clearance floor model) for $699.00. Is that a good price? I am almost certain I can get the manager to go even lower. What do you think?
  17. Does anyone know where I can buy an RVX-42 speaker stand? I bought 3 speakers(display models) at CompUSA but only the L/R had stands. I need one for my center channel. Any suggestions will help
  18. Local Comp USA has (3) RVX-42 for sell at $199.00 ea. I have a Quintet III system with a RW-10d sub. I want to have the four Q's as surrounds. Will this system work or will there be too much of a tonal difference between the Ref's and the Syn's? Most music will be played in 2.1 and 3.1. Room is large 16x30 with 16x12 viewing area. 12ft tray ceiling. Need honest feedback soon. Don't want to miss this sale.
  19. I have an opportunity to purchase (3) RVX-42 LCR for $199.00 ea at a local Comp USA here in Orlando. I will be eliminating the Q-Center and moving the Q-LR to the rear as surrounds. This will be a similar setup (I am sure much better quality) to the "soon to be released" Quintet SL. Room is a 16x30 with viewing area at 16x12 with 12ft traw ceiling. Returned the SUB 10 to BB Friday and brought home the RW-10d sub. Night and day difference. Will ther be a noticeable tonal difference being that the surrounds will be mostly ambient sounds for HT? Most music will be played in 2.1 stereo and 3.1. I previously posted this message on the wrong forum with little feedback. Hope for more responses this time around. I am pretty new at this, thanks in advance for any honest feedback.

  21. I currently own a set of Quintet lll's and a Sub 10. Sub bought at Best Buy with 15 days to return and buy RW-10d. I have a 16x30 room(family room kitchen combo) with 10 to 12 foot traw ceiling. Love the quintets for their sound quality and unobtrusiveness. Should I return the Sub 10 and buy the RW-10d with potential upgrade to reference line in future? If set up properly is this too much sub for quintets?
