  1. I will be upgrading my receiver very soon. I hear different brands have signature characteristics ie--Onkyo run hot, Pioneer quality not what it used to be, Denon confusing to set up, Yamaha bright sound. I am partial to Onkyo---sound,build quality, ease of use. I like what I have read about the Onkyo TX-SR674. Considering waiting for the release of the TX-SR705---100wt,1.3 HDMI,THX select. Any suggestions? Budget: $750.00.

    Thanks, Bill

  2. I think I have it set correctly. I have 3 RVX-42 for LCR and 2 RSX-4 for surrounds. The bottom of the range for this setup is 92Hz. I have an older Onkyo receiver (HT-R500) with bass management settings of 80 100 120HZ with the setting @120HZ and set to small. RW-10d set @ a 100Hz (w/95 Hz an option or is that too close to the bottom) crossover, therefore letting the sub perform the bass managment. Is it better to let the receiver do the crossover? If so please offer some recommendations. I will have to say in my opinion that the system sounds great but I am only a novice.

Thanks for this forum, I have learned a lot.

  3. Local Comp USA has (3) RVX-42 for sell at $199.00 ea. I have a Quintet III system with a RW-10d sub. I want to have the four Q's as surrounds. Will this system work or will there be too much of a tonal difference between the Ref's and the Syn's? Most music will be played in 2.1 and 3.1. Room is large 16x30 with 16x12 viewing area. 12ft tray ceiling.

Need honest feedback soon. Don't want to miss this sale.

  4. I have an opportunity to purchase (3) RVX-42 LCR for $199.00 ea at a local Comp USA here in Orlando. I will be eliminating the Q-Center and moving the Q-LR to the rear as surrounds. This will be a similar setup (I am sure much better quality) to the "soon to be released" Quintet SL. Room is a 16x30 with viewing area at 16x12 with 12ft traw ceiling. Returned the SUB 10 to BB Friday and brought home the RW-10d sub. Night and day difference. Will ther be a noticeable tonal difference being that the surrounds will be mostly ambient sounds for HT? Most music will be played in 2.1 stereo and 3.1.

I previously posted this message on the wrong forum with little feedback. Hope for more responses this time around. I am pretty new at this, thanks in advance for any honest feedback.

  6. I currently own a set of Quintet lll's and a Sub 10. Sub bought at Best Buy with 15 days to return and buy RW-10d. I have a 16x30 room(family room kitchen combo) with 10 to 12 foot traw ceiling. Love the quintets for their sound quality and unobtrusiveness. Should I return the Sub 10 and buy the RW-10d with potential upgrade to reference line in future? If set up properly is this too much sub for quintets?
