I've been running my RB-5s through denon equipment for about 15 months and I'm itching to see what my speaks will do with some smoother amplification. The denon is clean, loud and clear, but I'm more in the market for those intangibles. I'm a starving college student, so money is a big consideration, I figure my dollar will go a lot farther with used gear, these are what I've been eyeing (~<$500, cheaper is better):
NAD 3400, C350 or C370
Creek 4330
Musical Fidelity X-A2
Rotel RA-971, RA-985
Listening is 60% classic rock, 40% Jazz, classical, folk. With that in mind, an authoritative bassline and smooth mids/his would be nice. Any comments on the current contender, or other reccomendations in this price range would be much appreciated.
