  1. Dean is correct, the photo from Speaker Exchange is the stock RF-7 II crossover. They are local to me. Not sure how they always have parts for various speakers but they do. If you are referring to the modded crossover that I have, no worries on driving them loudly. I have given them plenty of opportunity to fail and the Deang crossovers are still going strong 5 years later.
  2. I tried that once using the unused height channels (I believe that were the channels) and inside the receiver tell it that you are biamping and did not hear any difference at all. Just ended up being more cables. From what I've read over the years, the only benefit with biamp is if you can bypass the internal crossover and go with an active crossover which from what I hear is a bit complicated.
  3. Welcome to the forum Steve! Now that's commitment right there. LOL I agree with Shu. In my limited experience with amps, I previously had RF-83 / RC-64 which are in the same category as the RF-7 II. Adding a Parasound HCA-2205a (220 x 5) amp added more bottom end (even at low volume), better separation of musical instruments and more headroom which allowed me to really crank them up without any distortion. The amp developed a hum so I bought a B&K 200.7 (200 x 7) and was then given a Sherbourn 7/2100a (200 x 7) amp. I did some A/B comparison in a 2ch setup between the three amps before selling any of them and did not hear an audible difference between the amps. My overall conclusion for home theater is it did make a difference, however it was not a Night and Day difference. I just wasn't like "Holy cow...what have I been missing all this time" kind of difference. Hope that helps.
  4. Dean, the mod trimmed a little off of the top end which could yield different results than comparing comparing with stock crossovers.
  5. He's mentioned it, I would rather him not have to do without his speakers since he's constantly in his home theater. We even talked about him driving down with his RF-7 II for the comparison but it's not practical. Besides, the Deang crossovers trim some of the top end off of the highs and wake prefers the brighter sound of the stock crossovers than mine.
  6. I would just love to be able to provide a comparison with all stock crossovers since most will not have their crossovers modded.
  7. Thanks Dave, yes I did with klipsch first before posting this thread. I didn’t speak with Roy though.
  8. This is a long shot but I want see if anyone has a pair of RF-7 II Crossovers that I can borrow for a few weeks as I will be comparing the RF-7, RF-7 II and RF-7 III but my RF-7 II have Deang crossovers. I would cover the cost of shipping. PM me if you can help out. Michael
  9. Now that’s what I’m talking about! That sounds similar to my story when ended up buying RF-7ii, RC-64 II and RB-81 II for $900 and I asked if I gave her $1000, would she include the Onkyo TX-NR5008 ($2400 when New) receiver and she said “sure”. 😀 You my friend are living proof that there incredible deals to be had, you just have to be patient, continually looking, and have some cash in hand.
  10. Works like a champ! I have my preferences setup in the forum to send me an email whenever someone tags me. Nice feature.
  11. Many feel the original RF-7 are on the bright or harsh side. The modified crossover "Tames the Highs" and smooths out the top end.
  12. Thanks bro. Just an FYI, you can tag people by typing the @ and then their screename and clicking on the screename like this @Mlaico
  13. INDEED YOU DID! Congratulations sir! The RF-7 alone would have been a sweet score for $300. I love buying from people that are just looking to "get rid of stuff". That's exactly how you do it. Buy a "lot", sell what you don't want and often get stuff for free or even make money on the deal. Yes, @Deang is still doing crossovers. I'll reach out to him as well and point him to this thread.
  14. Wow! I missed the purchase price. SWEEEEET score bro! You beat me as I paid $400 for mine with no receiver. LOL. That most definitely classifies as a Youthman Deal.
  15. Sorry, I meant to say Klipsch doesn't have an RD-64 speaker (see OP's original post). I still don't see a Special Edition RC-64 either.
  16. Welcome to the forums Kaodog! Sorry to hear about the lightning strike. The matching center for the RF-7 is the RC-7. Some have used the RC-64 or RC-64 II (they both sound the same) but the RC-7 has a brighter sound signature than the RC-64 and RC-64 II. I've owned two RC-7's over the years and paid $150 and $200 for them. They can definitely be found for under $400. Locating used gear usually requires searching Ebay, Craigslist, Offer Up, Let Go and Facebook Marketplace. Just a warning....RC-7's don't tend to ship well due to having heavy magnets that are supported by plastic baskets. If the speaker is dropped (which is very likely) the magnet can break loose from the plastic basket and wreak havok on the inside components. I'm not aware of a "Special Edition" RC-64, and Klipsch doesn't have an RC-64 speaker. Can you clarify?
  17. I used to own the CF-4. They are pretty amazing speakers with a LOT of slam. At the time, I preferred the look and sound of my RF-83. You can get an idea of the size of chorus II using my photos below for size comparison between the RF-7 and the Chorus II.
  18. Yup, those were my Chorus II in the photo above. Liked my RF-7 II better for 2ch so I eventually sold them. Sold the RF-83 after upgrading to the LaScalas. And yes, I've always had a speaker problem but I guess there are worse issues to be had.
  19. Sweet looking amp Marcus. I purchased a few items from Marcus and have nothing but great things to say about dealing with him. Best wishes with your sale
  20. I put together a video highlighting the new Klipsch products from CES 2018. https://youtu.be/3CKfAeolijM
  21. I'm definitely do not have any brand loyalty to Onkyo. I've owned Yamaha, Harman Kardon, Onkyo and Emotiva. Honestly, I'm open to anything I can move to with little to nothing out of pocket (typical Youthman upgrade). LOL
  22. The Onkyo has served me well. The only issue I have is it often has trouble with HDMI handshake between it and the PS4. Handshake between the AppleTV is flawless so there is something it doesn't like about the PS3 and the PS4. Came across an Anthem MRX710. Asking $600 for it (of course I'll offer less). Wanted to see if this is a lateral move or even a step down since it's only a 7.2 receiver (vs my 9.2 Onkyo) and it is 90wpc with 5 channels driven.
