It depends what you want...
The 801's are very flat, go very deep, and very detailed; they show every flaw in anything that is hooked up to them. You could dump 300w/ch into them and get them reasonably loud. I had dual Hafler DH-500's bridged.
The Heresy's were excellent and efficient but lacked the bottom end. I found the Heresy's base was muddled because of floor coupling. I added the tilted stands that made things much better. We raised them up about a foot they sounded even better.
If I remember right, the 801's were double or triple the cost and as I listened to both over the months I kept coming back to the 801's w/ the Haflers over the Heresey's w/ the Luxman hybrid tube pre-amp.
