  1. Don't transients live under bridges and overpasses? I can understand wanting to entertain transients with your music, but does it require 200 watts? I'm sure that all the transients in my neighborhood could hear my system if I put my KHorns on the back porch powered by my Cary 300b amps. Just sayin'

  2. I built a couple of these kits years ago with the Hazen mod board, but have nothing to compare the sound to without the mod. I haven't listened to them in years. Maybe I'll do a comparison with my Dennis Had Inspire amp and my Cary 300se monoblocks.

  3. I had my prostate removed in 2010 at the ripe old age of 55. The Doctor said it was ready to burst, and if I had waited any longer it would have spread. The thing that bothers me is that I had been complaining for years to my Doctor of symptoms, and he just kept an eye on my PSA level, which was elevated. I finally put my foot down, and I got a biopsy that confirmed my worst suspicions,

I said all that to say this: if you are a male over 50, please get an exam, or at least blood work for PSA.

  4. I built a pair of the se 84 kits several years ago, and used them bridged as monoblocks. I know the kits don't compare to the real thing, but I was overall impressed with the little things. They're packed away in a box somewhere, maybe I will dig them back out.

  5. Living in Michigan, I've found that the extreme cold weather in the wintertime slows down the velocity of the electrons. Therefore, I make sure to open all the doors and windows an hour before turning on my system. Haven't heard a pop in years!

I agree 100 percent, and that's the sad part about it. I wish we could take all the past threads and make a new place for them to live on.

  7. A couple thoughts from a guy who has been playing vinyl for over 50 years: todays remastered vinyl is a crapshoot. For example, I have two different "remastered" copies of the classic Rolling Stones, Sticky Fingers. One is significally better sounding than the other. I'm not talking about noise, but the actual recording itself. Originals are always a good bet, but finding clean copies is getting harder and harder.

About noisy vinyl, aka pops and clicks: I have found that the more expensive stylus profiles track much better and are a lot quieter, due to sitting deeper in the groove and further away from the surface noise. I'm talking about nude shabata, or fine line profiles. Vinyl is still one of the formats where spending more money on your playback rig will result in better sonics. Like it or don't.

  8. When I joined this forum (over 10 years ago), it was the peak of people modifying old Klipsch speakers, and I got interested and starting doing mods myself. There was a wealth of information contributed by some very talented and knowledgeable people.

I joined the facebook one a couple years back, and soon found out that mods were frowned upon, and it was mostly promoting Klipsch products. I respected that, and was glad that this forum was still a safe haven for information on mods.

Now it seems that this forum is patterning itself after the facebook one, and I wouldn't be suprised if they don't merge in the future.

I said all that to say this: I can see all the mod people joining other groups, or starting a new group. I'll miss the old forum, but things change. There will always be an outlet for people to discuss their interests, if not here, than somewhere else.

Actually, that has been my thought. Which do you think sounds "better?" Mind you, Shaky has not yet convinced me to go back to vinyl, so CDs through LSIIs are the usual path.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the late response, haven't been on here in a while. I prefer the one without bypass caps, but is has been upgraded twice by Cary with the latest expensive goodies.

  10. Just a random thought that has nothing to do with buying or selling of your product: I have 2 of those units. Both have been modified/ upgraded by the Factory to F1 status. One still has bypass caps, one does not. In both cases, they sound so much better than stock. I mention this because if you decide to keep it, you might find it to be one of the best little pre's you have ever heard with a little tweaking.
