I really need to have some closure to this. I've been searching for a two-channel preamp for months. I need to buy something. I was leaning to Mcintosh earlier but I've learned of some customer complaints on some of their newer models. Does anyone have any suggestions on any models. I don't want to go over a grand, and would consider used. Remote is a must, as well as a black face. Phono would be a plus but I do have a Creek phono box, so that's not a totally necessary. Mobile...have you heard the Rega Cursa? Anybody heard anything on Monolithic PA-1 line stage? O.K. one more....Audio Analogue Bellina pre? Thanks..Oh, solid state unless you can talk me out of it and going with a tube unit.

I have Epic CF-2's which are black satin. I would like to change these to a light or medium Oak. Klipsch used a new precatalyzed lacquer finish on these. My question is Can this be done? How difficult? Whats the best way to sand them down/equipment/procedure and such? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Voodoochile...can you be a little more specific? Are they toed in at the same angle, does this happen on all recordings, exactly what are you hearing? Remember all final testing with the speaker/crossover/etc. are done with screens in place, not saying the screens have anything to do with what your hearing. Keep us informed...later

Tom, with MusicDirect now owning Mobile Fidelity, who knows whats going to happen. I don't mind paying a little more either but you have to draw a line somewhere. Also, Brooke Burke, I like that.

TheEar....since you never support "Crapmart" and never, ever will, what the heck were you doing there last week? Come on, some of you are making it sound like a bus roams around neighborhoods and grabs individuals at gun point to put on a smiley tag on and work for minumum wages. To some this is a first time job, a way to learn some responsibility and pride, to others it's a chance to get out of the house and make a few bucks to help their spouse. Of course you can't make a living or raise kids on these minimal wages, but these jobs are crucial to our society. To raise the minimum wage to 15/hr, as suggested my Mdeneen, would be extremely detrimental to our economy.

dsommerl.....did you sand the academy down or was it like that when you got it? I would like to change my CF-2's to an oak finish but really don't know how hard it would be. They are satin black now. Theres a couple dry areas on top of one speaker but other than that there in good shape. What did you use to do this? Thanks

John, I knew Clarion purchased Mac, but I didn't realize it was that long ago. I recently visited the only store in the Omaha-Lincoln area that carries Mcintosh and they only had two pieces out for display so I'm assuming they have discontinued carrying the product, which kind of struck me as weird considering the market and the fact there the only dealer. Well, my search will continue on. Looked at a couple preamps from Marsh, anyone have any insight on there products? Thanks........
