Thanks. I do think that it sounds pretty great. I tried to pull the RFs out a little bit to see if it added anything to the sound, but it didnt do anything. It sounds just as good inside the cabinets as it did outside. I was concerned with the plasma and the center under it. I opted against spending $299 for a professional install of the plasma, so I had to make sure that I hung it high enough that the screen would clear the top of the RC62. But at the same time, I still wanted it to be fairly centered on the wall. So, I was pretty concerned that I would mess it up, but it turned out great. Im glad I did it myself and didnt spend the $299 to have someone else do it. Talk about a waste of $. Anyhow. Hoping to upgrade my sub in the next month or two. Looking at the AV123 & eD a3-300. Anyone have any experience with those subs?

I realized that I hadnt provided a finished product photo. I figured that I would go ahead and post what the product looks like now that it is all said and done. Also, I wanted to let everyone know that I think that the system sounds great. I actually dont use the fronts for bass anyhow, so the reduced bass output from being in a cabinet isnt a big factor to me. I have attached a phot of the finished product. thanks for looking.

I definitely appreciate the info. The problem is that the trim carpentar got liberal with his interpretation of the drawing.... The speakers werent supposed to be encased in cabinets. There was actually just space between the sides of the fireplace and the base of the cabinets. However, the end result was individual cabinets for the speakers. So, at this point, I am just going to have to deal with it. Plus, even though I just recently got these and I could potentially return them, I dont think that I will. You see, I really bargained with the sales person and got them for the lowest price Ive ever seen anyone get RF82 with an RC62 center for. I really had to fight to get this deal. Im not so sure it will go over well to return them and start the bargaining all over again....

I guess I can always just pop the speakers out of the cabinets when I need them. The space in front of them is carpeted, so that shouldnt be a problem. Ill just have to keep the fireplace off most of the time. Thats fine though. I dont really foresee the fireplace being on that often anyhow. Ill send an updated photo when I get the Plasma up. I am thinking that it will all look great. Well, I hope it does anyhow. WIll be moving in on Thursday and Friday. Try to get pics up by next week.

ALright everyone. Here is a photo of the cabinets that the speakers will go in. They will be right on the side of the fireplace. Just so you all can see it.

Unfortunately, there really isnt much I can do about it. I can probably move the speakers in and out of the cabinet a bit. Like taking a speaker wire that is a bit longer. Then if I want to use the speakers, I can pull them out of the cabinet a bit. That probably wouldnt be a problem. Ill be able to hear for myself in about 6 days. Thanjks for the input though.

ok everyone. I am certain that this isnt the best option, but it is pretty much my ONLY option right now. My question is how much of a negative effect will placing an RF82 in a cabinet have. I have added a photo of what the cabinets basically look like. The carpenter made some minor adjustments to the cabinets and they are slightly different now though. The one main thing is that he made it so that the fireplace mantle went all the way to the shelves. So now, the rf82 will basically be in a cabinet on the side of the fireplace. I guess there is around 23" depth of the cabinet and 10.25" width... I wasnt planning on having the top closed off. It was going to be a cabinet, then an open space for the speaker, and then the FP. So the original design was to call for the speaker in the open area. But now there is a top to that area and it is basically a cabinet. I am really sort of in a bind now though, since this is the only place to put the speakers. It is a new construction house and I just had them do all of the wiring and everything already. So the fronts are wired up in that area.... I know that there will be more bass. Thats a given, but will it be distorted and crappy sounding. Or just a bit more bass.... 20080120170847012_0001-1.pdf

I dont know anything about those other AVR, but I can pretty much guarantee the Yammie will be nicer. It only has 2 HDMI, but you said those others dont hae 3 like you want either. I is 130w x 7 ch...MSRP is $1299. So you can get it now for over 50% off. It has been discontinued to make way for the RXV1800. But honestly I would go with that. As a matter of fact I did, Just yesterday.

I started off with a 43" Hitachi 1080i 4:3 screen "HD READY" TV around 6 years ago. That TV decided to die on me 13 months after purchase. I called Hitachi and they knew the problem as soon as I mentioned it. They told me that it was a common problem on that TV and that it was around $600 to fix it. I asked them if, since it was a common problem, they planned on fixing it, they said No. They told me I should have bought an extended warranty since it was a month out of warranty. So...I said screw Hitachi and bought a 65" Mitsu ws65313. I sat around 10" from the TV and loved it. I personally think that 65" is a perfect size for that distance. Then Dum Duh Dum Dum....The Mitsu took a crap about 16 months after purchase. Luckily, I bought an extended warranty. Unfortunately, the warranty company decided to jerk me around for nearly 5 months before replacing it. Then, they only wanted to give me a depreciated value for the TV. At this time the company I purchased the TV from (and who was doing the replacement) had phased out CRT Tvs and only had one model in stock. What do you know....A Hitachi...after I specifically stayed away from Hitachi when I bought the thing. So, after another month of screwing me around I finally got them to allow me to choose a TV and they would credit me the FULL amount I purchased the Mitsu for and not the depreciated value that they originally wanted to give me. After I shopped around I had them price match a Toshiba 62hm196 1080p DLP and I only spent $150 to get it. Granted, it is 3" smaller, but it is 1080p and it is HD built in with two tuners. So I think it worked out. Still sit 10" away and it is amazing. Of course, all things must come to an end...I am moving into a new house. The new seating area will be around 14 feet away. The only logical place to put the TV is on a wall that has a big fireplace in it. So, the TV must go above the FP on the mantle. Since the mantle is 54" off theground and the TV is 40" high, it only leaves about 1" clearance to the top of the ceiling. Plus, I dont like the idea of having a DLP TV 4.5 ft above the ground. Not to mention the "little" RC62 center that needs to be above or below the TV. Isnt going to happen when you have 1" clearance as it is. With that being said, I downgraded my TV to an LG 50pc5d. It is a 50" plasma @ 768p resolution. It will give me the clearance I need to mount the center as well. IT might suck for a while to adjust to a smaller TV at a further distance, but I didnt have much choice. After $6k in new furniture, I couldnt afford another 1080p. Well....... in a flat panel anyhow. I had to sacrifice the TV size to fit the RC62 center. I dont complain though. I am fortunate to actually have a roof above my head and a 50" TV not to mention a 62" TV. So, I really cant complain about it. Besides, I am going to move the 62" into my bedroom. Pretty sweet. I mean seriously... Who has a 62" Tv in their bedroom... Anhow, sorry so long. I guess I got the rambling. I thought it would be interesting to map out the evolution or "de-evolution) of my TV screen and viewing distance.

I just had this discussion on AVS the other day. I actually auditioned a pair of rf82 with a 62 and a 52. I ran them through an AVR that was similar to the one I would use at home. 90w/channel. I turned off the sub and surrounds so that all there was, was the fronts and center. The difference was not night and day. The 52 was fairly close to the 62. The sound effects were more clear with the 62 and the dialogue was a bit louder with it. In the end I thought that I could skimp by and get the 52. It would have saved me around $110 (RC52 for $217 or 62 for $327 NEW). But the more I thought about it, I decided to go with the 62. Why, you ask? Well it really had nothing to do with the way it sounded. Really, I liked the fact that the 62 was a monster sized center. Most of my buddies have HTIB systems, and I thought it would be funny to have such a Huge center compared to all my friends. A little bit of EGO I guess. The other reason I went with the 62 is because that it what Klipsch reccomends. I figure, that they know thier system better then me, so I should listen to the experts. Other then that, I cant really make a decision for you. But I can tell you this, I would go with the 62 again if I had to do it all over again.

Tell me about it. I would never pay MSRP. I paid $327 for my RC62 and they split the sales tax with me too. I also got the RF82 at the same time for $660/pr. Altogether I walked out at $1019 (out the door) for the pr of 82s and the 62 center.

yes. Thats always good advice. I should also look into Denon and Onkyo and maybe Marantz. Of course I could always hold out for a McIntosh...but I think Ill be waiting for a while, so maybe I should aim just a little lower.

I currently have two Yamaha receivers. Neither one is anything special. They were around $400 when they came out around 3-4 years ago. They are 85x6 channels. I have been looking to upgrade to possible an Elite or another Yamaha receiver. I have always had Yamaha and never had any problem with them. But...I have recently been drawn to the pioneer elite receivers. A local AV store said he would reccomend them over Yammies all day long. But as I am looking at the specs, it seems that the Elites have a THD of .09 whereas the Yamaha receivers are all around .04. The signal to noise of the Pioneers is higher then the Yamaha though. I am just wondering if anyone out there has any real world experience with the two that could let me know the main differences between the Elite products and Yamaha. Looking at the RXV1700 or 1800 and the Pio Elite VSX92txh if you want specifics.

I keptrunning through the thing and standing up the whole time and only ducking from time to time. Really, you need to duck 90% of the time and then get up and sprint only for short periods of time. Also, dont shoot the guy holding the hostage in the leg. That works just fine in every level but Veteran. If you shoot in the leg in the Veteran difficulty it automatically stops and tells you that "real veterans go for headshots and not flesh wounds, the hostage has been killed". Anyhow, Ive got it on Xbox 360. Viral Chaos I also have a ps3 "viral_chaos"....Dont have COD4 on PS3 though.

Pretty funny that you posted the AVS forum. I made a comment in that forum about the eD a3-300. You probbaly noticed that though. Thanks for the info. So do you have any insight as to what warm means. And also, why exactly do you go with an rc62 vs an rc52? Does the rf82 overpower the 5 1/4 center? Have a good new year.

This may not really fall into the technical question category, but I am wondering something. When people are talking about receivers or speakers or anything else, I hear people use terms like "bright, warm, etc". I gather that bright is in regards to the highs, but what is warm and whatever other descriptions. With that being asked. I just recently purchased some RF82 and am considering an RC62 or rc52. Any reasons why I should go with the rc62 instead of an rc52? Sort of on a budget. I was thinking that instead of rc62 and rs52 surrounds, I would just do rc52 with rs52 or possible rs42 surrounds. It would help my bidget out. Also considering a new sub. Actually sub will come after center and before surrounds....Thinking of eD a3-300. Looks like a lot of sub for $. Also, I am wondering what receivers people like with their Klipsch. I currently have two Yamaha receivers. An rxv450 and an HTR5740. Both are/were entry level $300-400 receivers. 85x6 channels. So I am planning out my upgrades on a receiver as well. Looking at yamaha rxv1700 and Pioneer elite vsx91txh. Anyhow. Asked a million questions to anyone who cares to chime in. thanks.
