Well, whadaya think about it so far?

I can't speak directly for Fish, but I will tell you we both upgraded to the 7.02 firmware at the same time and the dang unit keeps sounding better! Most all of the kinks are worked out of it as well. I went ahead and loaded the new(er) 7.02.05 code myself and couldn't be happier. Like I said before, I wouldn't hesitate one bit to purchase one. I do not have the Cary audio sized wallet either, but I do have the sound quality at a very nice pricepoint.

Why not try the UMC-1? Its one I was considering but Emo is coming out with another model and was going to wait but I sold my Elite avr so im not going to wait . I know what you mean, but I'm not holding my breath too long for the XMC! Don't get me wrong, Emo is a spectacular company, but they have not been able to hit the broad side of a barn with their new product estimated dates! Some food for thought since you are looking for something to replace your Pioneer... If Fish sees this, maybe he will chime in as well. I've had/heard several Onkyo receivers, HK receivers, Emo LMC, Emo MMC, and currently the UMC-1 on mine, and others Klipsch gear. Namely RF-7's, RF-5's, RB-81's, and KLF-20's. In my opinion, the LMC-1 was a noticiable step up in sound quality over any of the receivers. It was a bit clunky in its operation though. I've had my UMC-1 since January, and I was taken back a bit from day 1 from the noticable increase in sound quality above all of the others mentioned. The sound stage, clarity, separation, depth, and overall openess was something that you can definitely hear. My room is sub-par, but Fishs room is exceptional. Even spectacular with the UMC. It is like having your cake and eating it too, with all the added sprinkles and extra icing! I use my gear 90% for music, so that is my standpoint. By music, I mean mostly concert dvds/blurays, dvd-a, sacd, and the occassional cd. For movies, it does just as well, but in my opinion, most of the 'better' receivers can do just as well in the area of movies. Granted, Emo-Q doesn't live up to what it's supposed to do, but you won't miss it. The UMC also functions very well and can be tweaked quite a bit. Again, in my opinion, the UMC-1 is a stellar match for Klipsch gear. For $699 to your front doorstep, I fail to see how you could go wrong even giving this a shot for its 30 day free trial period. When someone mentions $1500+ for an AVR, I just cringe a little.[]

I will probaly never get rid of my 7's, but I really do like the look of the wood on the front of the new model!

I auditoned a JL and was also underwhelmed with the sound versus what I've had in Klipsch. Let us know how you like the 2 of them.

If it's a rattling sound, and you can stop it with your finger, sounds like something is loose. I have an RW-12d, and am more than happy with it. Btw, you revived a thread that had a post from oldbuckster, may he Rest In Peace. I really miss his comments. Yeah, that freaked me out a little until I read on to discover it was an older thread! On my RW, I use the 'depth' setting as it seems to blend better. I'm not sure I would return a sub just because one scene in a movie made some strange sounds, but I mainly listen to music anyway.

Wow, I don't know how I missed this askbob, sorry bout that! I love the Emotiva amps, for the money they are just awesome. I did do some side x side tests on my mains between the XPA-2 and XPA-5 and you can hear and feel the difference. The XPA-2 was claimed to be 250 watts a channel when I bought mine but after some outside testing they found out it was putting down a clean 315 or more watts a channel compared to the XPA-5 200 watts a channel. So the difference is there... I don't know that running the mono blocks is worth it with Klipsch, I can't see playing any louder than this XPA-2 plays to be honest. Thanks for the input! I am very happy with just the XPA-5, but more power is always on my mind. I do tend to listen louder than most, so I need all of the headroom I can get. The more reading I do about the XPA-2, the more I think it will be a perfect fit. But, the X-1's still have me intrigued as well as what new amps Emo has in the works that are around the corner.

$350-$400 would seem fair. Very nice sub. I've had two within the past couple of years.

I have had and heard the RSW-15 in a couple different rooms. In the correct environment, it is excellent with music. In a less than desirable room, you might look elsewhere. But for $650, you couldn't beat that with a stick!

^^ Exactly Nectar. I was watching a PBS program called 'Woodsongs', which I watch regularly. It has been around for years and dials in a lot on the bluegrass genre, but is very likely to have any genre of talent. Anyways, I was watching the other night when the had a group called 'The Lovell Sisters'. Atleast I think that was their name. These young and very talented girls were true musicians and were passioniate in a way about their music to give me great hope in what might be around the next corner in up and coming artists. REAL country/bluegrass roots music that blows away anything country that I've heard since Waylon and Williams. I hardly ever give country a listen! And I have heard so many other great musicians that caught my attention in a similar way that will have a hard time ever reaching the popularity that the Garth Brooks wannabes ever will. The whole time watching, I'm thinking how in the hell are these girls not at the top of the charts with such real talent? I think the one real root problem is simple: people do not venture out to see live music anymore. And they dang sure are not exposing their kids to any 'real' music. Everything is based on simple looks and exposure. Or more, over-exposure! Some of my favorite bands were by way of venturing out to see or hear something new. The type of music that has staying power of years and not top 40 overnight weight...

No problem. I always try and spread the good around! You ever do any tape trading? WSP's first dozen or so albums are the best due to the original guitarist before passing a few years ago. After he (Michael Houser) was missing, it was clear that he was a major influence on everything the band did up to that point. They have had a few guitarist since then and continue to press on as usual. Most of their recent albums are pretty good as well. I've seen them about a dozen times since '92. Depending on where you live, they have a very broad touring schedule almost all year long. Not to detour from discovering and listening to WSP, but you might want to check out and band named moe. Spelled just like that with the period. They are slightly different but still quite the jam band. They put on one hell of a live show. Both of these bands are what I would call modern day Dead'esque bands. My main staple of tunes.

If you are still on the fence, they only thing you could do wrong is NOT buy the UMC....[] I've had the LMC-1, MMC-1, and a few receivers, and the UMC-1 is a real step up. More than anything the clarity and detail are much more present. Lower noise floor for sure. My current room is far from being great, but the difference is very evident. Now Fish's room is quite the dream for audio, and yes the UMC-1 is outstanding too.... [H] The current 'bugs' if you will are nothing but a minimal firmware fix which is forthcoming sometime in the near future. Tell me how many company presidents would even bother to update their forum with information such as the firmware timeframe among other things?
