  1. I was looking for any Android based apps that control windows media player 12, or Itunes. I want to be able to go either into my living room with my main system or into my basement with another, and be able to play different music from different players simultaneously. I think PSG does something like this, but don't understand fully. you guys understand what I am would like to do and know how to do it let me know thanks.
  2. I'm about 10 mi from 420 E Lamar. "BVR" threw me for a loop. Googling "BVR" AND Pantera returned some stuff about "Big Vin Records". Is that the BVR of which you speak (er...type)? Yup, Big Vin Records. At least thats the address for the recording studio. I always heard that the Abbott Brothers such as Viny and the late Darrell have lived in that area. Your Khorns sound like they would sound nice I hope you enjoy them.; Nick
  3. I guess the Drift isn't much a of a Heresies clone, just small like one. One of the reasons I was thinking of these, was for some reason I guess I felt since Dave built them they would match some of his Khorn upgrades but they might not. They still look like a great little speaker though.
  4. These are some of the speakers I was looking at building. For the price maybe you could give them a try and see how they compare. http://www.critesspeakers.com/crites-cs-1-speaker-project.html or http://mysite.verizon.net/res12il11/id116.html I am looking at the concept of something like these for my surrounds but they may be great for you as well. Good luck with your search as well, hopefully someone with a vas of knowledge will chime in on our post and give us a hand. I know the surround aren't that important but It will both me if I know they aren't a closer match, plus I want to you my actually Klipsch Heresies for my 2 channel once I sell my Fortes. As for me you are right about the cost of these speakers and what you get out of them that is why I chose them, plus to play with upgrades aren't that costly.
  5. Im just board, and was thinking of building a Heresy like clone for my some what Heritage like 5.1 ht. In another post I asked if I should stick with my Heresies or go with my Fortes. I am using for the front 3, 2 Khorn bass bins and 1 Lascala with Altec 511b/k55v, and Selenium HM17-25D/220Ti. First the main reason I went with the Altecs is for the price, I traded some blown older Kustom colums for the 3 horns. I was thinking of upgrading to some of Gothovers midhorns, I would probably use the same horn for all 3 up front on the mid. Still use the Seleniums for the tweets. I haven't built any tophats in stone yet so new construction isn't a big deal. If I was to do this what does anyone think to use for a mid if I was to build a Heresy like clone. Would it be ok to make a 2 way or is there a good mid that would match with either of the mids I am/or would use. I obviously would need something that would fit in the size of a Heresy cab. No size of the cabinet doesn't matter. However I would like to keep the Heresy look is all. I have seen both Gothover, and Bob Crites build a Heresy or Forte like clone(I think but don't quote me on that). Would either of these work for my Surrounds. I think I will use that cleat system I have seen some use to hang speakers on the wall gives them a bit of a angle down and looks nice. Like I said just board and pondering ideas. Thanks.
  6. Really? forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/143349/1465822.aspx By the way, I believe that I live about 1 mile north-northeast of your residence (as a crow flies). Cheers, Chris How close are you guys to 420 E Lamar or BVR, Sorry big Pantera fan.
  7. Looks like a piece of 1/4" trim around the top to give it that inlay look, nice. Find some of your moms music and play it for her once she hears the detail she will be having you turn it up and glad you purchased your speakers. Have fun and take care of them babys.
  8. Tubes and transistors, there's just no getting away from the need to match. So your saying that between channels you need to be matched not just with In the 4 for one channel. The ones that were refurbished were available in two pairs as 2 pnp and 2 npn I was going to replace the 4 on the one channel but you might be saying I should replace all 8. I wonder if the seller has data on them if they can be matched or not.
  9. Were is all the electronic guys. I have a HK 830 or maybe its a 730 I can't quit remember right now at the moment . But I had a tech tell me that three out of four were bad on one channel. So I started searching and didn't really find anything other from electronic companys over in China mainly that carried them. Then here recently I have stumbled upon a few on ebay. Some being old stock from the states for around 20.00 each shipped, then some that are refurbished from Japan for 10.00 dollars shipped. What would you trust I have herd of people getting counter fits how could I avoid this. Thanks Nick
  10. I think I am wrong about this. When I first got my new comp a while back and started with WMP 12 I thought I read it supported a flac. But sounds like you have jump through hoops to get this to work. I don't know if any what I am talking about makes any since, any input would be much appreciated as well. Thanks Nick
  11. I think for 38.00 I can order a usb sound card and a toslink cable so not much to try both and not be out much. If this doesn't suit my needs, than I will pursue other possibilities. After I get the comp. moved down stairs the next thing will be what media software to use for play back, Windows media player 12 claims to have a lossless format. I just need to figure how to move all my music to my external hard drive and still run it off of the windows media player. Thanks for all your help.
  12. I was talking about using a optical cable, my Behringer fca 202 was a firewire interface, but I can not get driver downloads for windows 7. From what I read you using a lynix operating system, they seem to not have as many clocking issues with usb 2.0. Do the Behringer usb sound cards run off of usb 2.0 just wondering I was looking at them as the ufo 202 goes for about 30.00 and that will be the next thing I might try for the price. PSG I have read a few of your post and those are the ones that all ways seem to get me going on other projects.
  13. For about 8.00$ I can order a toshlink or optical cable from monoprice and run it directly to my receiver and see how this sounds. From what I have been reading using a optical cable is not the best. This website I was reading was recommending a good dac with usb 2.0 this seems to be the best for music since it does the best clocking or master clocking.
  14. The bottom of the cab has a baffle in the way. What kind of sound issues would i expect.
  15. Are you saying this because these items make a physical noise that will be delivered through the sound card/optic output. Or is this some sort of weird computer talk. What would you recommend, sound card with just a RCA output. What good is the optic out put for (hooking up to my 5.1 receiver for movies). Keep in mind when I am streaming music from my comp to my receiver I mainly looking for convince to my collection of music for party's and what not. If I want quality I go to vinyl a lot easier and sounds better.
  16. I emailed support a month ago they just got back to me yesterday and told me to download the driver for the u control which is the usb version for the 64 bit but it didn't seem to work they just told me that its a Microsoft problem.
  17. So for some time now I have tring to figure out why I can't download the driver to my Behringer fca202, come to find out the driver is for windows 7 32 bit not 64 bit. So I got to looking at my computer, and turns out it has a optical audio out. I know some say dac from the cumputer aren't worth it because of the clockng of the computer to the dacs don't match up I don't know mutch about this kind of stuff, but its all ways kept me away from this kind of setup. Now I am looking for some what of a simple set up so would it be worth it to try. Is there any reasonably priced dacs out there. thanks
  18. is this good enough or do you you need a better pic let me know.
  19. When I had my Forte 1 passive woofer out to replace the caps in the crossover, I noticed that were the cone attaches to what I believe might be the voice coil, seems to be torn. Is it possible a local speaker repair shop would be able to replace the parts with some sort of generic parts or would it be better to replace it. If better to replace it what is a suitable replacement woofer and were could I obtain one. Thanks Nick
  20. I was wondering if I could just mount the caps on a board by them selves and run leads to the terminal cup. Or If I would have to put all components on the board.
  21. THanks Moray, Is there any chance that one could add a some length of wire to each compacitor to get it out a way so its no so cramped in there. I will read threw the thread I am sure it will help me. THanks again Nick
  22. I thought I had a schematic for these but I don't one might be needed but don't know yet. Is there any way to remove the passive easily to access some of the wires so I can remove the the crossover so I don't have to work off the back of the speaker. Also the 47uf cap is glued to one of the transformers is it necessary to re glue the new one to it. Any advice is recommended. Is the grill fabric brown or is mine just old and dirty, has any one ever tried dieing there speakers grills I was thinking of using some dierite either black or brown what ever color it is supposed to be. Thanks Nick
  23. You can always check the bay for some N.A.D. there are great reviews matched with Heritage line I am sure they sound great with Forte IIs I have the Forte 1 with a older Kenwood amp and a passive pre, sounds good but not the best pre. I would like to try tubed pre some day but I have to many audio hobbies I bounce around with. Good luck with the search. Have some fun. And welcome. Duder.
  24. Clearly, many here would say that tube electronics are mid-high frequency friendly, while SS amps of the BJT (bipolar) persuasion tend to have snappier bass response (and lower output impedance). However, I'm not a tube aficionado - I prefer Nelson Pass's approach using FETs for power amplification. There are many benefits and virtually no burdens to this approach. Chris I was thinking of trying something along the lines of a tubed amp on the hf/mf section and a ss on the bas bin of the Khorns. I will be using the passive between the tweeter and squawker, and a active between them and the bass bin. 1. will this work 2. If I am using a lower power tubed amp and a higher power ss amp is there going to be some delay issues that need to be addressed with something like a eq.
