  1. I recently added another sub to my setup, after talking to SVS they told me that subs don't suffer as much from timber matching as speakers do. I think if you stay within the same brand and relative performance you should have an easy time setting multiple subs up. I say this assuming the subs are of similar design (ie 2 sealed subs or 2 ported subs). I added a PB12 plus/2 to my PB13 ultra and setup was pretty simple, still need to play with it but with the limited time i've had at home with it, it sounds darn good. The wife was not please with yet another LARGE speaker in the living room. I asked first she said yes, then said you didn't say it was another huge speaker. I responded did you think it would be little. I got no response.
  2. hey mike, there's a local epik empire where i'm at for 650, I think he could be talked down some. I travel your way frequently if you needed help with transportation. http://omaha.craigslist.org/ele/2716164270.html
  3. i think the biggest difference will be between what you hear and like in the High Frequency section. The synergy line I believe use aluminum where the the reference use titanium.
  4. i think there are too many models of speakers in this particular size class for klipsch. It's kind of a catch all class that includes a wide range of speakers. There are both mid priced speakers and higher end speakers in this class which i think has created some confusion on what speakers are what. For example, RF 82's and RF 82 II were often compared to RF 5's because the size was similiar, people took this to mean that the RF 82's were the RF 5 replacement. there is a quality difference aswell as a noticeable price gap. The RF 82's can be had for approx. 400 bucks a speaker where the RF 5's where roughly 800 bucks a speaker. I think the same is true for the RF 3 and RF 3 II, the 8 in class of speakers have been lumped together with such a wide variance of quality they just get overlooked. I think this class of speaker also has the owner looking for the next upgrade as they were typically one or two steps away from the flagship model. Take a look at the many options in the 8in class within the Reference Line: RF 5 Classis, RF 5 Original , RF 3, RF 3 II , RF 82, RF 82 II, RF 35. The RF 35 and RF 82's are obviously not in the same class or league as the RF 3 or RF 5s. but the point stands that to the average user that 8in driver is an 8in driver. The sensitivity is relatively close among all of them, the frequency response are similiar so it seems to reason why would one pay more for a speaker say RF 5's when they can't get the same thing in the RF 35 or 82? I understand the difference, my first pair of speakers where RF 5's and I still have them. When the RF 82 replaced them, in that class, people figured the 82's replaced the RF 5 not the RF 63's. This has given this particular class a kind of confusing set of numbers and specifications.
  5. But you can insert a < (less than), 'b', and a > (greater than), to put in line breaks.Bruce Just a 'b' inside the tag would make everything after it bold. It should be <br /> Thanks and I know, I just forgot. Had you noticed the post that said 'test' would have indicated a test page break. And it is just ' < br > ' without the ' ' or spaces. Its a pain to do on the phone.
  6. The night I brought them home and hooked them up I knew I had been bitten. Still have my eyes out for a pair of K-Horns and Chorus II.
  7. I still need to redo the crossovers, I've been looking to pick a pair of Bob's 4500 xo's up or redo the AL-3's I have now, I like the sound of the AL-3's just haven't quite decided. I'm sure they will benefit greatly from refreshing the networks. I love the fullness I get listening to 2 channel from them. The low end response is much better in my room than the RF 7's are, I don't know why but I can't get the low end to show up in my listening spot with the RF 7's, the La Scala's on the other hand is definitely there. I think that given the spatial difference between the woofers is what makes them so pleasurable. When i stand up at the listening position with the RF 7's its there, when I sit down it's gone. It's completely opposite with the La Scala's , sitting down is good, standing up ....not so good. So my room is obviously affecting the overall sound.
  8. Thanks Dingman, I have noticed with the Galaxy S phones that the voice commands do work but the control features do not. Have you played with it much to give some input with your particular device? Thanks.
  9. I dont think the pictures do them justice. Lot's of elbow grease, everything went well, it took 2 days to do what I've done. Next year I think I will try to strip the insides and clean them up. It was a really cool learning experience.
  10. I picked up a pair of La Scala's a while ago and have been a little nervous about what I might get myself into if I did start to clean them up. I've had some time at home so I decided to give it a shot. Keep in mind this is my first attempt at stripping, scrapping glue, sanding and what not. I figured I'd post some pictures of the progress, it's no where near what others are capable of but show what a complete beginner is capable of with no tools. I'm not finished but they atleast look presentable now. With out further ado, some photos of before and now.
  11. Confirmed. The headphones, should work on any device, you will however not get the control functions without the Android "Klipsch Control" app.
