  1. I have a Ht set-up with RF-63's, RC-64 anf RS-62. I have a RT-12D. I have the LFP off. I set the X-over for my mains at 60HZ, center 60 Hz and rears at 80Hz. I ran room correction. Phase at 0 degress. I was looking to get more slam.. I was thinking of adding a SVS 13PB ultra or HSU uls-15. Would this work? How do I set it up? I use an Integra DHC 9.9 preamp.
  2. I recently set up my RT-12D. It has been sitting in the box for a year. What level should I set it to? 0db? Do I leave it at one volume?
  3. Which pre/pro has the best musicality. Onkyo seems great for Home theater as is the Denon, but which will also do great with 2 channel music? I will mate the Pre/pro with two Emotiva amps.
  4. Will the Emotiva pre-amps give better SQ? Currently the low end frequency and bass are a little thin in my Onkyo. I thought the Integra may have a little better balance. Also the integra has Burr-Brown DAC (1796) in all channels. I believe the 705 uses Cirrius Logic chips. I don't even know if there is a separate DAC for each channel in the 705.
  5. I nned to hook up Sacd and run interconnects from my rewiver to amps. What is the most common length needed in a typical rack set up? 1ft? 3FT? 6FT?
  6. My system consists of RF-63 and RC64 and RS62 and RT-12D. The system is great for home theater. I feel that some thing is lacking with 2 channel audio. The sound quality is good. I want it to be great. Will the DAC's in the Integra make a big difference in the sound quality? Will the bass / high frequency ratios be different?
  7. I have an Onkyo 705. I works well. I run the Pre-outs to Emotiva XPA2/ XPA5 amps. I was thinking of getting either the new Marantz AV8003 pre-amp or the Integra 9.9 (replacement of the 9.8 ). Will the Integra change my audio quality compared to the Onkyo? Am I better off going with the Marantz? Should I stick with the Onkyo?
  8. The room is 2000cf? That amounts to 20 x10 x10. That's not that big. Why do you need all the towers? I think the RS-62's would do a better job of dispersing the sound, especially if you are used to DefTech dipoles. I use the RS-62's . there is no localization of sound. My RF-63's are very point specific. If you are out of their direction, the sound is not as rich.
  9. I spaced the Speakers further apart and about a foot from the wall. The room has alot of glass and hard surfaces. Will try some treatments.
  10. My Onkyo has a bi-amp option. Will I see any benefit bi-ampiong the RF-63'?
  11. I switched my Cd player. Now I have a Denon 3930ci in my system. It is connected to the onkyo via RCA analog cables.
  12. My Onkyo has a Direct Mode also. I don't think its all that musical. i don't ant to waste $3-4000 on a sunfire to find its the same.
  13. Is there any multi chanel pre amp which is musical? Marantz? Sunfire? Denon?
  14. Would that improve the sound? Is the flatness a signature sound of Onkyo?
  15. I have an Onkyo 705. It is not great for music by any means. I think it lacks depth and dynamics. I added a new amp, Emotiva XPA-5 and an XPA-2 for my fronts. This seems to improve the sound slightly. I was thinking a needed a different pre/pro. Any suggestions for a good pre/pro? I have Klipsch RF-63/ Rc-64 and RS64. I was looking at Integra (Still an Onkyo????) or the new Marantz AV8003.
  16. I recently changed my set-up. I had an old Kenwood setup with pre-amp, amp and Kenwood speakers. My recent set up is an Onkyo 705, RF-63's, RC64 RS62. I got a RT-12d but have not set it up yet. The RF-s were set up with the Onkyo. They sounded lifeless. I got an Emotiva XPA5 amp. This improved the sound but hey still sound bright. The midrange is good. Highs are a tad pronounced. Lows are flat. I plan to set up the Sub. This may help. The speakers are 6 to 7 feet apart. Any suggestions? My old set-up sounded better.

  18. Youtman, I just got a Emotiva XPA5 and XPA2 . I have been trialing them with my RF-63 series and Onkyo 705. I am not totally convinced that they are the cat's meow.
  19. I have an Onkyo 705. I will run the pre-outs to the amp. I want 200 wpc as that is what I had with my old Kenwood. I was looking to compare A/B amps with Class H amps.
  20. I want to upgrade my amp. I was looking at the Emotiva line. I was leaning toward either the MPS-2 , class H amplifier or the XPA5 and XPA-2. Thw latter are class A/B. Any opinions on which would sound better with Reference RF-63 set-up? I am looking to buy soon.
  21. Ear, What do you think of the RT-12D from Klipsch?
  22. Just hook it up as 5.1 ans when listening to 2 channel music, set the listening mode to "stereo". The sound will be 2.1 if a sub is attached. If no sub change the onkyo menu to "no sub".
