but my "little" Martin Logan Depth w/ (3) servo controlled sealed 8" woofers is fairly badass. You would like that one AU1C

    +1

I thought I was the only one on the forum running an ML Depth i . . . I am about 50/50 for movies and music with it. Love it for both, running 9 channels in the all Heritage HT.

It's definitely a strong sub. I believe it will end up back with the Belles. It seems to keep up better than the R-115. The (3) active 8's are fairly impressive. Have you ever heard the big brother (Descent)? Very nice. I had a chance to score 2 of those but passed. Still regret that.

    I have been looking for a used Descent i . . . quietly . . . pre-owned . . . have not found a reasonably priced one yet . . .

  3. Back on track....

Last night, watching the northeastern sky from 10:30 pm to midnight, I counted 35 meteorites. It was really cool.

A well advised and noble attempt to return us to the topic and I'm bummed I missed it. My own fault, but glad you saw that much, it must have been spectacular!

It was spectacular ... only watched for 45 minutes last night and inky saw 8 .... should have known better than to stay up late 2 nights in a row!

  4. Youthman.....

When I was running Klipsch Reference speakers in the HT, Audyssey did an outstanding job. But, when I went to an all Heritage HT, I ran Audyssey ad naseum to no good result....it bottomEd most of my 11 channels down to -12db and things sounded terrible.

So, I got a respectable SPL meter for the all Heritage HT, leveled all channels, and never looked back....all to an excellent result.

So, Youth, looks like you are back to this solution too?

  6. Happy Father's Day!

I hope your speakers sell if that is what you want.  It's still not too late I hope for someone to get a great deal on some vintage speakers.

Thank you. It is a happy Father's Day. My daughter is here for the day to help pack. A great Father's Day gift !

Speakers are still for sale until I load them up at 9 o'clock in the morning tomorrow. I thought someone might get them for Father's Day. I am not sad if I have to take them with me. They will just go in Speakers are still for sale until I load them up at 9 o'clock in the morning tomorrow. I thought someone might get them for Father's Day. I am not sad if I have to take them with me. They will just go in Storage until I figure out what to do with them some day in the future.

  7. What are you doing moving? I thought you already moved...

    Bruce

    Had not moved yet....

KY is calling....got to go where the work is...still a good 15 years from retirement. :-). And now I will only be 2 1/2 hours from my 8-year-old grandson and 3 hours from my 78-year-old mother who got better here over the winter...thought we would lose her, but thankfully did not.

Hope all is well with you, Bruce.

In other good news.... all of the Heritage speakers are making the move! Load up starts tomorrow.

Thanks for checking in to the thread.

  8. What state are they going to on Monday? Maybe someone at the destination would be interested...

If I have to move them, they will not be for sale; that is why I have priced them the way I have for a possible quick sale.

  9. Great price.

We'll try to keep "bumping" you to the top so someone from here gets those nice speakers before Monday.  B)

Thanks, Dave.... I can move them, but I have gone all Heritage for the new house. Just thought someone might like them before they relocate. Thanks for the bump!

  10. My favorite two?

    "Jaws" and "Jaws"

    Is there another movie?

"Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go . . ."

  11. You say "over the ear." Do you truly mean a soundproof cup that encloses the entire ear, or something more "on the ear." Those over the ear phones are usually heavy and bulky and have a wide band that sits right on top of the head.

I don't have any model specific suggestions, but I will say in general I don't think you should think about your mom's needs in terms of what you like. For instance, sound quality for a decent price would be #1 for most of us. But your mom ain't us.

I'm thinking your mom won't want to put a big bulky headphone on top of that nice hair do she gets done every Friday so she will look nice for church on Sunday. I would think more in terms of those under the chin headphones, that are nice and light.

    Just a thought.

Good point about the hair. Fortunately Mom puts her hair in a short pony tail and only gets the curlers out or a fancy do for a big event, very rarely.

She wants headphones that cover the ear, something like the two I was exploring and the few suggestions I have gotten. Looking for bang for the buck for her, but does not need any battery powered noise canceling headphones.

  12. Turning to my forum friends for some help recommending over the ear headphones for my 77 year old mother.

Mom has been living with me for a few months to get well. That mission seems accomplished and she is about ready to return home.

Since being with me she upgraded to an iPhone 6 Plus, and has rediscovered the joy of music. (I load her CDs on the iTunes and sync it with her iPhone.)

We tried all sorts of ear buds (even some high end ones) that I have, but none of them seemed comfortable for her. She tried on a pair of old crappy beat up just about worn out Bose headphones that I have, over the ear, and it worked great for her. Before she goes home, Mom is asking that I order a pair of over the ear headphones for her.

Mom would like to keep the cost of about $100 more or less. I am pretty much out of the knowledge loop about over the ear headphones. But here are some I am looking at; I am hoping you will have some better options and insight.

    http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Reference-ONE-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B005ZNHDYS/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1424284617&sr=8-8&keywords=KLIPSCH+headphones

    Or these:

I simply have no idea of what kind of bang she can get for $100.

So, Over-the-ear headphones recommendations at around $100 for Mom?

    Thanks in advance!

  13. Www.Priscamusic.net . . . Prisca just released another song ("Skin") on 6 Feb on her site. A singer/songwriter gaining traction. Beautiful voice, encourages aspiring young artists (pre-teens and teens) on her facebook page. Does a lot of acoustic sets, many with piano only. And teaches voice and piano to pay on the side. She has been primarily jazz fusion, but recently charted with one of her acoustic songs ("Kamikaze") when a rapper picked it up, repackaged it, and had her sing it with him.
