As Amy said, the key is IMO. I hope everybody is here to share ideas and learn from the experiences of others. I know that's why I come to this forum. ---------------- With that said.. you have to bear in mind what we're discussing here.... Heritage owners love their speakers because they designed just like Concert P.A. speakers - huge bass drivers matched with effecient horn drivers.... In other words, they love Hertiage speakers not because they image well (because they don't), but because they deliver that "Rock Concert"-like performance and can do so with modest power... Reference 7-series owners like me, have "put our rock&roll days" aside, and now prefer speakers with much more finesse in delivering a "more to pure live" experience... I'm sorry, but when you go to a Rock Concert, you're not listening to "live" music, you're hearing the house P.A. system and guess what? Some of them may be even using Klipsch (or JBL) speakers. So it's no wonder why Hertiage lovers prefer that experience... However, if you want to recreate a Jazz ensemble in front of you, or listen to studio recordings the way they were meant - with proper imaging and soundstage - then the RF7's are unmatched in the entire Klipsch line-up... I've owned and heard lots of Klipsch's products, and that is IMO....
  3. Okay guys, let's hear it.... I'm a Comcast Cable customer, but have been considering switching to a Dish.. Any thoughts on which service is truly better? Which one delivers better picture quality? etc..etc...

I heard the THX set up at the Klipsch pilgrimage. I wouldn't trade my Reference HT for what I heard at the same price point. Considering I paid at least half as much for my system (and I have 2 more speakers;-), I am EXTREMELY happy with my purchase. That being said, the upstairs demo (at the Pilgrimage}using the 3 LaScallas up front with the 2 THX subs----WOW! I am considering building a larger Theater Room and using upper end Heritage, because it DID sound slightly better than what I have. From my understanding the RF-7 was designed mainly for Home Theater use with 3 other speakers and a sub. I am glad to hear a 2 channel aficionado {edit: Oops I thought this was a 2 channel post} feel they stack up to the Klipschorn for stereo. ---------------- I never claimed to be a "2-channel guy" as I do own a 5.1 setup which conists of 2 RF7s, 1 RC7, 2 RS7s and one RSW-15.... However, I will but up the RF7s in 2-channel audio listening against any other Klipsch-made speaker... The transperency, linearity, sonic clarity, imaging and soundstage is far superior to any other Klipsch product... The mids are far warmer than anything a horn mid can make.... IMO..

You get 90% of the RF series for much less money. They are simply the best bang for buck speakers Klipsch makes. Hmmm.... another Best Buy item. Seems like a marriage made in heaven! ---------------- I don't think the F-series comes anywhere close to the sound-quality of the RF...

I would say imaging would go to the rf-7, but sounstage would go to the Khorn. I have sf-2 that image better than heresy II's, but the Heresy II's have a better soundstage. The sf-2 with good amplification will image quite well. You will "almost" always get better imaging with a slimmer cab design. ---------------- Actually - they really aren't that separate: Imaging Imaging describes the extent to which a stereo system reproduces the location of instruments and vocalists as they were positioned during recording and mixing. (See also soundstage below). Optimum imaging creates a listening experience that seems natural and lifelike. The key to attaining the best possible imaging is to have equal (or as close to equal as possible), unobstructed path lengths between your tweeters and your ears. The ability to mount your tweeter separately, as with components, or in an angled mount, as with some full-range speakers, can improve imaging. Soundstage The soundstage refers to your sense of width, depth and height when you listen to music just as you would sense the placements of different instruments in a live concert setting. Individual vocal and instrumental "images" make up your stereo system's soundstage. See also "imaging" above.

What would be the right adjustsments I should do to get the most of the bass from the sub. Help. Thanks, Ron ---------------- Umm.. stupid question - what's the volume level on the sub set to? Also, what is the subwoofer output on your reciever/amp set to?
  8. Fyi.. I'm sure it's the amp as I tested the driver with a battery - and it still works ....
  9. Geez! You are NOT supposed to say that to a Heritage owner. We all know the Heritage system is for old guys who can't hear. BUT, we NEVER, EVER tell them that. Those who can still hear buy the RF-7 and enjoy them. Please don't tell any Heritage owners that the speakers they have are second best to the RF-7s, they may have heart palpations, get short of breath, and maybe even blow a gasket. Be nice, not smug, in knowing you own better speakers. Tell them, "Gee those Khorn Cornball, er, uh, I mean Cornwall LaBelles sound pretty good". To all Heritage onwers: We only jest out of love! ---------------- LOL - Oops, my bad.....

My dealer let me hold on to the 12 until the 15 came in. when it did it just didnt sound/shake the house as much as the twelve. And now probly 150hrs in, it sounds awesome. As long as it keeps pounding this will be the last sub I ever have to buy. good luck its worth it, see if you can find out what is wrong with it and post it for us other rsw owners.---------------- I have a feeling it's in the amp - as the status LED shows the Pre-Amp is coming on/off just fine.... I suppose it could be a failed driver too, but I have no way of diagnosing that and it's highly unlikely that the Amp inside could fry that driver...

They are a bit light on the bottom end for movies (that's why they make subs) but for music vary rarely does most rock get down below 45k. The power and presence of the La Scala is only matched by the Khorn. They truly disappear when listening. I too have auditioned the RF 7's and I find them to be a wonderful sounding speaker, especially for HT. But they hold no candle to my La Scala's or the Khorns for that matter IMHO. scooter ---------------- While I don't doubt your sincerity of your love for the La Scala's - I can say that every heritage speaker I've heard has a disposition for sounding as if the mids are simply "blaring" out of the cabinets. They sound much more like a P.A. speaker than anything... This post is to simply point out that - IMO - the RF7's have a much more refined sound quality than anything else Klipsch has made so far..

  16. Yes, I have heard RF-7's. They are a nice product. But they are not in the same league a most of the Heritage line. ---------------- You're right, they aren't in the same league - they're head and shoulders above the Heritage.... Not in SPL, but in finesse, transparency, imaging and detail...
  17. WOW...... My khorns image unlike ANY other speaker that I have came across. As a mater of fact I can hear (image) Stevie Nicks getting fatter on the latest mac cd. I would guess that you were shown a pair of horns that were lacking one or more important elements. (1) Set into prpoer corners. (they still have a soundstage that is huge, just drop a little on the bottom end). (2) Fed with quality components (garbage in = garbage out) (3)A good recording. That being said, your rather bold trashing of the great horn is rare. PWK had a button that would be perfect for such a baseless statement. ---------------- Fyi.. the last set of Khorns I've heard were powered by McIntosh Gear (Amp/pre-amd/CD-Player) and were placed in adjacent corners.... we played several CD's.... My statement isn't baseless - in fact I worked in the audio industry before and have been involved as a fan of audio since I was 12yrs old (I'm 34 now)... Turning it back on you, have you ever heard a pair of RF7's on good gear/source etc?

Of course.... Can image well? hell no... Khorns are also some of the most innfacturate-sounding speakers I've heard... They're best used for small concerts or dance halls where you need tons of volume and SPL... I can't comment on belles or corns as I haven't heard them... having owned Forte's before I can say that they have TONS of midrange, but it's not near as smooth as the RF7's...
  19. Name a better-sounding set of Klipsch...
  20. I'm sure I'll get blasted by "old-school" Klipsch lovers but.... Is it just me, or are the RF7's - the best-sounding speakers Klipsch has ever made? Before you blast - keep in mind, that I've owned and/or listened to the following models: Forte Forte II Chorus II Kornerhorns... All of those speakers rock - but none have been able to match the sonic clarity and imaging of the RF7's IMO..
  21. Anyone else here own a RSW-15 and have it die? Mine still powers on (according to the green LED), but will not work....

The unverified claim, made on the Al-Qal'ah - Fortress - internet site, was posted by a group calling themselves the Secret Organisation Group of Al-Qa'ida of Jihad Organisation in Europe. The message said: "The heroic mujahidin have carried out a blessed raid in London." It continued: "Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters." The claims, picked up by BBC Monitoring, claimed that the strikes were revenge for British military "massacres" in Iraq and Afghanistan. Terrorists appeared to warn Denmark and Italy that they will also suffer attacks if they do not withdraw troops from Iraq. The message went on: "In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and the dauntless fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him. "O nation of Islam and nation of Arabism: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge from the British Zionist Crusader Government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan." Elaph, a secular Arabic-language news website, and Der Spiegel magazine in Berlin, both reported that a group calling itself The Secret Organisation of al Qaida in Europe had posted a claim of responsibility for the series of blasts, saying they were in retaliation for Britain's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. The statement, which also threatened attacks in Italy and Denmark, was published on a website popular with Islamic militants, according to the two sources which both published the text on their websites.
  24. First of all - my thoughts are prayers go out to the people of London and the UK... Secondly, I hope this reminds the libs out there that our war on terror is GLOBAL (i.e. not just in one theater like Afghanistan), and that our resolve must NOT be that of candy-asses... b...b..bbb-but Islam is a religion of PEACE...
