  1. Richard, bring whatever is comfortable for you. This should be a blast, and the opportunity to listen to a lot of speaker components. CB
  2. That's good news, I just picked that number out of the air, hopefully it will be less. The second reason I want the tubes is for spares, just in case something blows up, so I would like to get some of the 5AR4 and the 12X4, just to have around. I do appreciate tthe work and effort you are putting into this for me, I guess the budget number is the only piece that was missing. I didn't realize that the value of these is all over the place. Thanks again. CB
  3. G-Man, Never got your email. Sorry for any confusion. I agree with your previous post that I need to start with a budget. This will be for the VRD and the Peach, let's say $500 to replace the tubes in the VRD (except the K-88's) and the tubes in the Peach. After reading all the posts, I never realized that there are so many varations in each type of tube, you can't just say get a 12AX7 Bugle Boy, there is a ton of then out there. It even get more confusing when you get in to the Mullards and Telefunkens, RCA and the list goes on forever. I do appreciate the fact that a lot of you guys are trying to help an old fart like me that don't know poop. You specifically seem to know a ton about these silly little suppositories that make things sound better. So, all that being said, I guess that Brent Jesse and The Tube Shop are good places to purchase, then given the budget number, I hope I am in the ball park, that you can suggest some specific tubes.. The VRD has; 5AR4 - Sovt, ECC 82 - JJ, ECC 83S - JJ The Peach has; 6JD8 - Ei made in Yug., 12x4 - don't know. Again, thanks to all who are trying to hepl me. CB
  4. Bruce, is that the same part and number that Al mentioned? cb
  5. Gartenman, you have a email, I don't know where to start cb
  6. That's funny, I asked Al the same question yesterday. Does anyone have a picture of one of these things?? CB
  7. I told ya once and I'll tell ya again, the last thing I rolled was a joint, sitting in the jungle in Viet Nam, 1967 I believe, so cut me a break, I need some help here OK. Hee Hee. Smile Boys, but that's the truth CB
  8. They were great, except one, BS&T would not play, don't know, rest were great. CB
  9. I'm not sure what you just said. I'm not sure if I could really hear the very suttle differences between tubes, remember I'm an old fart with bad hearing. If I could improve the sound and end up with a spare set of tubes, I'd be happy as hell. CB
  10. My answer is real easy, NONE. I want some new tubes to serve two purposed, first as set of spares and two, if I can find some better tubes at a reasonable cost I will purchase and use the existing as spares. For lending me some tubes, I wouldn't like to do that, I would rather purchase out right, I would trust your judgement and opinion. It's a crap shoot anyway you look at it. Thanks you Kind Sir CB
  11. The kind and gentle Mr. Thebes, if I may inquire of what type of AT7's are suggesting, if the cost if reasonable could I impose to let me try? Thanks you Kind Sir CigarBum
  12. Mike had a excellent question. How do you tell if the Gold Lions are the newer re-issue type, or the ones that had problems, besides someone saying they are. CB
  13. Mike, let me know how it works. I am thinking putting some Gold Lions in my VRD's. Did I remember a post that said the Gold Lions din't like the VRD's or was it the tubes and not the VRD?? Where did you get your GL's, good price??? CB
  14. Chris, you have heard mine, box stock. Never had the need to change, sounds pretty good the way it is. CB
  15. Chris, you have to be here to test the bottle of McCallan 25 I have stashed away, just to make sure it's OK to drink. Mike, give this to Lee, Get Out Of Jail FREE card, She'll let you come. Picture I took this morning from the front porch, you can just see the top of Chimney Mountain.
  16. Not to my knowledge. The selection CD's, for the music I like is far and few between. I am going to have to expand my listening to difference kinds of music. cb
  17. Up around this neck of the woods you really don't advertise things of value. I have a few things that may deter any snoopy people. You know they did film the movie Deliverence not far from here, ya and those people do exist. We're going to have a great time, can't wait. CB
  18. For anyone that is interested in attending a casual gathering of fellow Klipsch folks. I will be hosting the get together at my home in Sautee Nacoochee, GA, very close to Helen, GA, this is in the extreme North East corner of GA. I'm trying to give you enough notice so you can plan your calendars, the date will be the weekend of May 21. 2010, all weekend. This event will include but not limited to anything you want to do. This will be an opportunity to listen different systems, horns, drivers and crossovers, JC will be bringing test equipment to measure the variations in equipment, just so your ears don't play tricks on us. Again, I believe this will be an excellent opportunity to get everyone's opinion on what sound the best and have the benefit of test measurement to back it up. You are more than welcome to bring any equipment to test or listen to. Check my bio to see the equipment that I have. I have a very meager home in the GA mountains, it is nothing fancy, but comfortable. I will provide food and drink and cigars if you desire, I have enough beds to accommodate a few people if you want to stay over night. Two bed are already spoken for but still have another bed and sofa still available, or bring your own air mattress or cot. I have 2 - 21 pound cats ( Boogie and Scooter ) that sleep about anywhere they want to. On occasion I have other guests, bear, deer, wild hogs, bob cats, turkeys, so I wouldn't wander around outside at night. Come for the day or the whole weekend. If you have any question, just let me know. CigarBum
  19. If I ever get all this stuff put back together I will have the ability to test: ALK trachorn with the following, K-55, GPA 902-16 and JBL 2470, all one inch. I don't have many 2" drivers, the 260hz is going in the Khorns with the JBL 2446, the only other 2" I have is a JBL 2440. Maybe need to wail till " The Event" CigaarBum
  20. Again, I am not sure which will give me the best sound, but another option would be to use (which I have) Al's trachorn with the GPA902-16 or I have a pair of JBL 2470. The original idea may be just a little much, akin to putting a 427 in a SmartCar, may look in teresting but not very practical. CB
  21. When it comes to this crossover stuff, the only thing I can say is that I will leave it in your very capable hands to tell me what I need to make it sound good. CB
  22. Now that sounds like a man after my own heart. Now, if he likes a good single Malt, we're good to go cb
  23. JC, Ya, some sort of little tweeter box. When we get a little closer to some nice weather, I would like to host a get together, all that want to attend, sleep overs are welcome, bring test equipment, also need to know what food and drink requirements are. CB
