  1. How do the S3's sound? Do you have a 5.1 setup or 7.1? I'm looking to get a set for S3's to complete a 7.1 setup. I have B3's for the rear.
  2. I think the S2's would be 'ok', With a 5.1 setup the B3's should be fine. That's what I'm going to do if I can't find the S 3's to complete my 7.1 setup...sigh... I'll have the F3 in the front, C3 in the center, B3 in the rears, then S3 (hopefully) on the sides. SUB 12 for the bass effects/low notes. []
  3. Any luck finding a pair? I'm in the same boat. Not sure why you can still get he F3 and C3 so easly but not the S3...sigh...
  4. Honestly, I couldn't tell a difference between bi-amping and with out it. The bass might have be ever so slightly better but I can't be for sure, it was so very close, especially since the SC 05 is already a fairly powerful AVR. I had the volume at a moderately high level, -6 db. Having send that I'll probably complete a 7.1 surround system instead of bi-amping the mains. Overall the SC 0 is pretty slick. For some reason though when I go into the menu options, sometimes the screen has a red tint! Could just be the TV, not sure...this is the first HDMI device I connected to my 720P TV. Also when I power it on, my room lighs sim for a split second lol
  5. I say give the B-2 a shot. You should get a much fuller sound/frequency response out of the B-2 then the S-1.
  6. Where did you get your S3s from? I have the same setup but looking for S3s for the sides. I have B3s for the rear. I would recommend 16 guage wire or thicker. Radio Shack would work http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102569
  7. Well I just picked up the SC-05. I'm going to hook it up the old fashion way then try it bi-amped to see if I notcie any diffeerence. Like others have said the Denon is much quiter at the same volume level as the Pioneer. The BB employee didn't give me much of a change to tell the dference between any SQ> The Pioneer had the video features which I wanted though so that's why I went with it. I'll test the sound in my room. Thanks for the input guys!
  8. Yeah, in tougher times and all I think I'll go with the SC-05. I still need to complete the whole system so the money I save from not going with the higher end models I can put towards the surrounds... This is the most I've ever spent on a reciever so hopefully it will last for a while.
  9. I like the Pioneer since it can stream video, pictures, and audio from the network whereas the Denon only does pictures and audio. But I wonder if one would work any better for SQ and overall performance. I have Synergy F3 fronts, C3 center, SUB-12, and will either eventually get S-2 or S-3 surrounds depending if I can find the S-3's. Thanks for any input!
  10. You can't even find S3 in the store, online, etc.., I tired...lol. If you seen them let me know! I just need a new reciever and 2 surrounds and I'm set I heard the C2, it sounded really good. I think you might be a little better off with the S2's but the price is going to be a a lot more expensive for just surround speakers...they also be larger too...
  11. Today I heard the difference between he b2 and the b3. Pretty noticable difference. I'm going to keep looking for some S-3 models.
  12. I think bi-wire is considered a waste not bi-amp although I think bi-amping can be tricky too.
  13. I have a F-3 front and C-3 center. Trying to find S-3 with no luck. Is the S-3 ok or should I hold out a bit?
  14. I would like to know as well. Is bi-amping more for stero use and good for 5.1 setups too?
  15. Any luck finding the S3? I'm in the same boat.
  16. Ah sorry, I think what you just explained is biamp not biwire. It appears from initial research that biwire isn't worth it, especially, at least in my eyes, if you have thick speaker cable. I may bi-amp from a receiver but appears it might be best to so with a preprocessor and separate amps. Is there an entry level setup to get into a preprocessor/separate amps instead of a receiver? How will the Xbox, Wii, etc hookup? Also any recommendations for a sealed subwoofer? Thank you!
  17. Thanks guys. Still looking before making a decision. Can I get a 7.1 and biwire the front speakers makeing it a 5.1? It looksl ike the F3's have two sets of connections...but I'm not exactly sure what it's good for.
  18. I would like a clean and clear sounding receiver and prerpably one with iPod support since I just picked up a iPod Touch. Is it worth it getin a 7.1? I also want new features like HD Radio, etc but at the same time something easy to use. I'll also need to hook up a Xbox360 and Wii. Right now I have F3's and C3. Trying o keep it under $800-1000.. Also any recommendations on rear sourround speakers? I'll be listening to 60% music 40% games and moives. Thank you for any input!
