  1. I'm waiting for my 20-39PC to ship. It should be another, uggg, 7 weeks.
  2. CO1nf mentioned that he had an SVS. I'm guessing that it's a 16-46 based on the fact that he was trying a 16hz test tone. I ordered a SVS 20-39PC that should be built and shipped in about 8 weeks. They are becoming very popular and get rave reviews over at www.hometheaterforum.com. I'm not sure if it would be the best choice for someone that doesn't want to piss off the neighbors.
  3. Thanks guys! I feel really lucky that I was able to get these speakers, especially at that price. And yes Steve, I am going to hold out for the academy. Steve, I little while ago I posted a request for the specs on the Kg-3's. You provided those for me as well as a copy of a test report. Do you happen to have any information on the Kg-4's? I know that you got rid of them but I thought that I would ask. I did a search but none of the links that came up work.
  4. RossVTaylor, Thanks for the heads-up on the wantadvertiser. I got a hold of the guy Wednesday, demo'd the speakers Saturday, and I am now the proud owner of a pair of Kg-4's. I couldn't believe that he was willing to sell them for $150 and throw in the amp to boot. I know that some other people contacted him after I did and I think that the seller was beginning to realize that he could have got more money for them. I've got the Kg-3's in the back now and they sound great. I have to admit that I was a little unsure about switching out the Kg-3's. I love the way they sound and I couldn't believe that anything would sound better. I was wrong. The kg-4's sound richer than I expected. Now I just need to get a hold of that academy...
  5. I believe that the KV-3 as well as the academy are the "perfect match" for the Kg-4's. I can't imagine that the KV-2 is a bad choice though. If it sounds fine I wouldn't change it for the SC-1.
  6. Addendum to above: 5 channel music might be something to consider when thinking about full range in the back. I have always been a 2 channel kind of guy though.
  7. I may have the opportunity to pick up a pair of kg-4's for cheap money. I have seen a number of posts in the past saying if you have the chance to pick them up you should. I currently have the kg-3's and I love/worship them. Is it worth it to upgrade? I can't see myself using the kg-3's as rear surrounds. I currently have ss-1's and while they are not as good a speaker as the kg-3 they are far easier to fit into my HT room. However, with all the new multi speaker formats on the horizon (6.1, 7.1, etc.) I don't know what to do. Any opinions?
  8. I have been looking on ebay for a while now and haven't had any luck. Does anyone know of any other potential sources to look at for this speaker? I have Kg-3's and I would love to get a hold of an academy center. I don't suppose that any of you that currently have one feel the need to upgrade...
  9. I am unfamiliar with the speakers that you are looking at so I can't help you out, sorry. Did you know that the academy is not made anymore? Did you find one for sale used and that is why it is on your list?
  10. I second the notion of checking out svs. I just ordered my 20-39PC. After reading all of the rave reviews on HTF I couldn't help myself. Do yourself a favor and head over to HTF and read the reviews.
  11. I just ordered my 20-39PC. I can't wait! I briefly considered waiting to see what the new Klipsch subs were like but decided against it. The SVS subs have been getting rave reviews and Tom and Ron have been great helping me decide what version/model to get for my HT setup. Given the reviews and how cheap these subs are for the performance I couldn't see going with anything else.

    Sub

I don't know what your budget is but you might consider an SVS sub. They get rave reviews over at HTF. I am going to get one of these in the near future. www.hometheaterforum.com http://www.svsubwoofers.com
  13. I'm with you Craig. I am getting ready to order an SVS 20-39pc to go with my kg-3's, sc-1 and ss-1's. All of the buzz has convinced me that SVS is the way to go.
  14. I am going to keep my options open for now but I have to say that SVS is the front runner at the moment (thanks gametester). After spending the last number of hours looking for info on SVS I have to say that I am impressed. It seems that there is nothing bad about them. It also seems that every subwoofer topic that I read has a TVodhanel post in it offering information. The guy really knows his stuff. I am primarily concerned with HT but does anyone know how the SVS is with music? If for some reason I only want to use the sub for HT is there a way to do that? Would I want to use it only with HT? Would the fact that I listen to 2 channel music make it a moot point if I have the sub connected via the subwoofer out terminal and not the speaker lever inputs? As I said, I am pretty new to this subwoofer stuff and I want to make the most informed decsion that I can. I guess that I should have posted in the Powered Subwoofer section. My bad...
  15. I am unsure what subwoofer to add to my system. I currently have the kg-3's, sc-1 and ss-1's hooked up to a Yamaha HTR-5250 in my HT setup. The kg-3's only go down to 36hz so I want to add a sub so I can get down into the mid to lower 20's. I was sure that I wanted either the ksw-12 or ksw-15 but I have noticed a number of people use velodyne, hsu and others. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good sub for my system? Are there certain brands that work well with klipsch? I've seen a number of people mention the sunfire and M+K as excellent choices. Do these work well with klipsch. I am looking to spend between $500 and $800 but I could go a little higher if it is considered an excellent choice. I know practically nothing about subwoofers so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
