  1. the color is really starting to grow on me. these speakers are sexy!! (not literally lol) definitely get the center. it blends seamlessly with the rf7 II's as well as the rs62 II's watched a movie last night and the sound is freaking awesome. the neighbors thought so too. ha. these are far and away the best i've ever owned and no regrets here. i've got to get more music cd's blu rays and movies to feed em. waiting for the special edition of avatar to come out before i watch that again. yes the stereo sound is fantastic. i keep switching back and forth and testing out the different presets on my onky905. this might sound funny but have you gone right up to the speaker and listened to the sound in front of the horn all the way down to the woofers? sounds amazingly natural across the entire speaker. i guess i'm used to hearing the highs too high and the woofer to muffled. not these. wonder if that's what the lower crossover does. i haven't enjoyed just listening to music in a long time. i'm no good at writing reviews. all i can say is i don't want to sleep anymore, just want to keep listening.
  2. thanks for the compliments. i was a little sad that it wasn't the color of the photos (is that light cherry? didn't see that option when ordering) but it still looks sweet . when i saw the black one in your thread it made me jealous, but just for a moment i do have lots of black furniture in the room so it isn't bad to break it up a bit. loving these speakers!!!! can't crank it up as much as i wish. the neighbors have already noticed a difference. hehe
  3. glad you're liking your purchase. i'm very satisfied as well. the surround is fantastic! also really enjoying some good vocals in stereo as well as anything with lots of varying musical instruments.
  4. pics of unboxing. some scary box pics but no damage from shipping
  5. haha! self control...hmmmmm....my last apt had 2ft of concrete between floors and was perfect for home theater but the place was too small. the new place is much bigger hence the need for beefier speakers (xf48's don't cut it, i admit i'm a bass junkie that can't get enough) the rf7II's are much better, they sound solid in the bass dept even at low volumes, the bass is tight and overall the speakers are much more dynamic. hearing details in music and home theater that i didn't notice before. the experience is much more emotional. mated to this setup is an svs sub that looks like a water heater i have to keep that baby down to keep from rocking the foundations. overkill? nahh i keep it down but there are times when i let loose (not at night) plus i just like to know the power is there whenever i'm in the mood. will post pics soon and give more impressions as everything gets settled in.
  6. don't know if compressed is the right word. i'm thinking the space isn't big enough to let the speakers perform. my room is about 12x15 speakers are placed on the short side. maybe when the volume is lower the sound doesn't bounce as much? they don't sound bad when loud just not as contained (make sense?) pluse one wall is open into another room, opposite that wall are curtains and a window and i just have lots of crap in that room. not the best environment for best sound (also hardwood floors)
  7. opened up the fronts and center there is a slight blemish on one of the fronts right along the edge. not sure what to think about it. you'd have to be within a foot of it to even see it but it is there. the other speaker and the center are perfect as far as i can tell. hooked them up with available wires. one flat wire on the left front, 12 guage on the center and a 16 guage on the front right. i didn't have the right lengths for the speakers in 12. still have to open up the surrounds but it's getting late. listened to a little music and playing with placement. one thing about these speakers is they are big big big. lucky the fit the space i have but i'm beginning to wonder if they are a bit cramped by the lack of space in the room. here's one thing that i noticed, at a low volume the speakers sound clear crisp open and dynamic. it's when i turn it up a bit that the balance of all those qualities get a bit mushed together. don't want to really turn it loud till they are broken in and my judgement might be getting a bit fuzzy. will try more music in the morning. just put in a blu ray (pontypool) which i thought had great sound and indeed it does. the balance between the fronts and center is very clear and crisp with plenty of bass. the first thing i noticed is vocals with music sound very natural. much more than i'm used to hearing with the xf48's. i'm loving the way things sound so far. a special note on the look of these speakers. from the photos online and the ones on amy's blog the color of the wood has a yellowish tint which i really like (the photos) when i opened the boxes i was taken a bit back by the color of these cherry speakers. they basically are the same color as every other cherry wood you're used to seeing. makes me a little bit disappointed about the color but in the end this speaker is still very nice looking. just don't expect the colors on the web photos to match the actual color. so far one of my biggest wishes has come true which is to have a speaker that is clear and dynamic at low volumes for movies. a necessity for me since i live in an apartment and don't want to be waking the neighbors at 2am all for now.
  8. and in da house. there was some damage to the box (rs62 II) hoping the speaker is safe otherwise i would have had to refuse the entire shipment. i just couldn't let the rf7 II's go back on the truck. Will at Audioholics said that he would work with me if there was any problem with that speaker. have to go back to work now. can't wait to get home tonight to open these babies up!!!
  9. yeah don't use audiophileliquidator. go to an official dealer and bargain for a good deal. if you're still looking pm me and i'll send you some details and yes i got a good deal.
  10. very nice indeed. can't wait to receive mine with the rf7 II's and rs62's just shipped friday!
  11. it's still on the first page of this forum. worldwide stereo but your deal is better. i'm working on a better deal myself. will let you know how it turns out. as soon as i have confirmation i'll pm you.
  12. sorry to hear that bheinz, what about the deal with worldwidestereo? if they aren't local to your area that would make up the difference since you have to pay tax and they have free shipping. i'm close to biting the bullet on this one.
  13. You mean arriving today? If so, I'm uber excited for you! Post pics and give us a quick first impression
  14. Mind if I ask how much and or what dealer and when did they estimate delivery ? No one has them in my area except some ebay vendors are showing them in stock online . Feel free to pm me if you'd rather not post it , Thanks in advance : ) why not try audioholics? they have a 30 day return policy i believe + free shipping. not sure if they come down on price.
  15. You think those dealers willing to discount the new series now? Rf7II?
  16. found a pair of the cf3's at a local shop but they want 600 for the pair. is that a good deal? one speaker has ripped plastic trim on the upper corner. read a review on this forum saying the cf1 and cf2's were better than the 3's are they worth trying out at this price? i won't be able to crank them up so moderate level listening and running with an onkyo 905 receiver oops sorry don't mean to hijack a thread. if you like i can ask mods to move my post
  17. In the end if you're happy that's all that matters. What you have to do now is stop looking and comparing, it will drive you nuts! I have a kuro and a samsung backlit led and a samsung plasma and love them all for different reasons.
  18. Depends on which model you switch from and to and a bunch of other factors like how and when you use your tv.
  19. I'm assuming it's not the same thing as setting an amp to cross over at 80hz for bass. Or am I wrong?
  20. they look super nice.but the question is how do they sound compared to the speakers they replace? slightly larger woofer but one less woofer and how do they stack up against the next higher line which the price is close to? if the sound is close to rf83 it may be a good time to get the last 83's out there since the price is about 2/3rd the price of these. decisions decisions.
  21. any new reports from xf-48 owners? i have just bought two of these and am enjoying them very much. some very good bass as well as detail in the highs which i love. i was trying to convince myself that the icon wf 35 were just as good sounding but i couldn't do it. would save me a bunch of money which can also go towards a center and rears. one thing which i'm confused on is that i keep reading that the line in is a better connection than the speaker wire but i'm getting bigger sound from the speaker wire hookup. my receiver is an onkyo tx nr905
