  4. Maybe I will just leave the stands alone then, if there is no real benifit to adding sand. The stands are made from 1 1/8 inch solid oak so they are very sturdy so I can only assume that they should'nt resonate. PS I used to live in Stoney Creek, I never heard your khorns tho
  5. Hay Boxx, the stands will be setup in my basement (slab floor) with foam underlay and 11mm (3/8inch) laminate flooring. I was going to put spikes on the bottom in case I ever decide to carpet my basement. As far as filling them with sand I heard I would get better bass response???? I'm still new to the audio world so I don't know if that's just a myth? Thanks in advance
  6. Hi guys I have a couple of questions that I could use some help with. I'm in the process of making speaker stands and I was wondering if there is any benift to filling them with sand or similar type of matterial? I've read a few articales saying it helps and a few that said it dosnt do anything.can someone help clarify this for me. Second question. I am going to use speaker spikes on the bottom of the stands, what should I do for the top of the stands where the speaker will rest? Should I leave it bare and have the speaker just rest on the stand, use smaller spikes, or just use felt pads? Well thank you in advance, I sure could use some help
  7. Well I had the chance to listen to both the 35 and the 52, it was a hard decision but after watching Transformers 2 and UP I'm going to stick with the 52. The 35 is a nice speaker the sound field felt a little larger/wider? (still new, excuse the wording). The 35 definetly looks mean with its size and the dual 6inch drivers. I did find at higher volumes the 52 was a bit easier(smoother?) on my ears. I think I'm going to keep the 35 and try it again when I upgrade my receiver, maybe my old Yamaha is straining a bit?
  8. Well I've been looking to upgrade my center channel from the Quintet ii to something better. As some of you know I recentley bought a new in box RC-35 that im still waiting for, its being shipped from LA to Ontario as we speak. My friend works at bestbuy and the recently started carrying some of the Referance line (not the 63 or 83). Anyways he got me a great deal on a RC-52 so I went a head and bought it. All I can say is wow, it really does make a huge differeance! I had the quintet center's volume turned all the wway up to try to keep up with my 81's to no avail. I re-watched Master and Comander and I swear I heard dialoge and noises that I never heard before, this thing is trully amazing! I don't know what I'm going to do with the RC-35 when I get it, i might see what one sounds better then sell what ever one I don't like, either way I'm very pleased. Now I need to think about getting a new receiver, my old Yamaha 596 is starting to act up.
  9. That seems like a great deal! Thanks for the link. Im going to call on Monday and see if they ship to Canada.
  10. Front pict Thoose look great, thoose are almost exactly like my friends except his are black (and a lot more money[:|]) Im going to try to make a pair or two as soon as I can locate the OC 703. Thanks
  11. Hi guys, I recently helped my friend hang up some accoustic panels in his home theater room and I was very surprised with how much it helped. These panels are definitely a great improvement I asked how much he had paid for the panels and I was shocked, for the six pannels (2x3) cost him nearly $800! Like I said it did make a very noticable differance but they look fairly easy and inexpensive to make. I tried searching the forums and couldn't find anything, is there anyone here who has made there own panels and would be able to help me out with any pictures and infromation? Thanks Nathan
  12. Thats a nice system mbr311, love the looks of the RB-35 with the RC-35. BTW Klipsch do look nice with the grills off.
  13. I could be wrong (a very good chance) but it seems that computer/internet/technology companies could be affected the most. It would be nice if Klipsch started to make all of ther speakers in America, I would not mind paying a bit more for a North Americian made product. I know all of Paradigms research and speaker manufacturing is done in Canada and these speakers are still fairly affordable. Just my 0.02
  14. Please make sure your sub is unplugged before working on it.
  15. On the left side of the plate amp below the power on/off switch there is a fuse. Get a small flathead screw driver and turn it untill the casing comes out, check the fuse, it could be a 0.50 problem.
  16. Hay James I think your right about maaking my own. I went to a nice (made on site) furniture store and saw a bookcase I really liked, solid Oak about 3x5 feet with nice crown mouldig, verey very nice. Then I saw the $500 price and I walked away[:'(] Im on my way to the local lumber yard to see if I can reproduce it, dug out my old router and miter saw and made sure they both work. I think all I need to do is buy the matterial and some new bits and build it (ok won't be that easy) Might be an excuse to get back into woodworking.[] Ill post some pics after its done.
  17. Forget about it, it was sarcasim on my part as well
  18. Hay wuzzer thanks for your help citizen,I thought it was a valid post.
  19. He guys I'm in the process of buying a new TV stand I will also want to buy a new bookcase to store my DVD's and CD's. I have checked out BB and some other box stores (including Ikea) and I have found nothing that I like, a lot of cheap MDF with plastic type ones. I would preffer solid wood or something similar. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.
  20. Thats a great price forsure!! It would be very hard to pass on a deal like that, it does sound to good too be true though. I always hear of the great deals in the States, I wish they would show up in Canada, you would be hard pressed to find just the RF-82's for $1100 (maybe if you used cash)
  21. I would not worry about glare/reflections of the RC-64, with the RF-63/83 and RC-64 they are built with wood veneer instead of wrap around vinyl. If it was my choice I would go with the black so it dosn't draw as much attention to itself. Thats just me though.
  22. Yah it was still a good deal. I bought one last month and even with shipping to Canada it was only $165, they are selling used from anywhere between $225-300. I almost bought the RC-52 for $400 from a local dealer ( RC-62 was $629) then a fellow member told me about the ebay model.[] As far RC-62 Vs RC-35 the drivers are the same but the RC-62 does have a bigger cabinet. Maybe someone else could chime in about it?
  23. wes8398, check out this guy and make him an offer. I paid $120 for one last month, with free shipping. Since im from Canada (dosn't ship across the border) I had it shipped to my aunt's in LA, and its being shipped to here now. He ended up shipping in 2 days and was at my aunts in 4days. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290340323569&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
  24. That might just work, it will sure make me think about buying the right speakers the first time around. How long after giving her her jewelry do I upgrade my sub? sameday, wait a week or two?[]
  25. Hay guys (gals too). I am an owner of a Sub-12, I've had it for nearly two years and it has worked flawlessly. I recently finished my basement (overall room size is 17x25) I have noticed since moving my setup downstairs my sub seems a little under-powered, I placed a piece of 1 inch MDF underneeth it and it did help out. I was wondering if I would get any gains from placing acoustice foam, or lining it. If I walk in the door with a new subwoofer my wife will most likely kill me, so I was wondering if there are any feasible upgrades/mods I could do. Thanks in advance Nathan
