  1. I don't get it, why would you select the 5.1 Decoding option if you don't have a 5.1 sound system? There should be an option in PowerDVD to downmix the 5.1 channels to 4.1. I don't use it anymore; so I can't tell you but I'm pretty sure it's in there.
  2. fawwaz - Unless you get one of those new TV/Monitor type of T.Vs, it's not going to be worth it. If you want to use your T.V as your monitor, get one of those expensive *** T.V.s that double as both a T.V. and a monitor. If you don't, you won't be able to read jack-**** . Think about surfing the net; you would get a headache! Trust me; it's hard to read the text. It's really just something that your friends can "ooo" and "ahhh" at; as far as gaming. Now, when it comes to watchin' DVD's, it looks wonderful.
  3. I'm not saying you have to list songs I like; this is for everybody! This is just so anybody can come in here, go to napster (or any supplement) and download it to hear their room shake. I was merely stating my opinion
  4. Yep, I have an AIW Radeon which has Video-Out/Video-In (along with a t.v. tuner). It's great for editing videos. I watch DVD's out in the other room with it (run the wires from my room to the next through the wall) and the picture quality is great. I have yet to try games--though I did it with my Voodoo3 3000 and it was ok. The problem is the text is basically blurred out. It's hard to read text. I did, however, run napster on my computer w/TVout enabled and was listening to music in the other room and the text was much more clear. So if my room ever gets organized, I'm going to have it so my friend can game on the computer and the rest of us can sit on my bed and watch him, via T.V. It would be pretty cool
  5. SB16's are NOT the best around Line-Out/Speaker Out--they are both the same. If you get louder producing sound from the "Speaker-Out" jack, I would sugguest you use that jack! I would highly recommend upgrading to an SBLive! Value. It can be had for about $50 used on message boards.
  6. Metallica is cool but I'm gonig for songs that have a REAL BANG to it! The Bela Fleck above gets real deep and low. As for techno; I don't really like it Sandstorm is cool though. As for the RAP.....nope; I don't swing that way but who cares... C'mon people, list some songs!
  7. Post some songs guys. Here is one to get us started: Bela Fleck - Flight of the Cosmic Hippo Kid Rock - Only god knows why (I don't like kid rock but this song is decent and has some good bass at the beginning) Rush - Neil Pert Drum Solo (so-so on the bass jammin'--great "song" though ))
  8. I believe the Midilands to be a nice, entry-level HTS... for anywhere from $225-300 a complete 5.1 system (no need for a reciever) it's nice.
  9. I did after I read the post (not all of it--it's too long and I have a life). I still stand by my comments. My post wasn't directed towards you as much as people who read this thread and thought they would go over there and bash the other people because they have different tastes.
  10. IS that the Sirroco Crossfires? I hear they are comparable to the klipsch and in lots of reviews, they say they are better. (if not; I'm mistaken and sorry ) after looking at it; it doens't look like it is. I only see two sats, the X-Fires have four. Nevermind........
  11. I don't know if this will help, but I know it helped on my set....double click on the "speaker" icon in your taskbar and mute "CD Audio" everything else is not muted (except microphone). I found this helped a GREAT deal....I get no hiss now (unless you count putting your ear up directly up to the sat)
  12. Let me start out by saying I haven't read anything yet; so I don't know the entire content of what is going on--but people are entitled to their own opinions! Don't just go over there and post saying they are stupid and don't know what "good" sound is. "Good" sound varies from one person to the next, ok? I have the Midiland 8200's and believe them to be more useful than the Klipsch, but why do I stay here? I'm not here to bash the speakers; they're great--just like my Midilands are great; I stay here for the cool croud and knowledge.
  13. The only big thing the Klipsch have going for them is the awsome bass; I will agree with you guys there but the Midiland system is damn nice. Specially if you can get a good deal on it like I have ($225 shipped). Keep an open mind. Both are great systems. It all boils down to what you do with your computer. If you watch DVD's of any sort, I would say go with the Midilands. 5.1 freakin' ROCKS. Hearing sh*t fade from left to right, back to front, front to back is just amazing. (speaker placement has a ton to do with this) They are both about the same price. If you can; buy whichever, test them out and if you don't like them-buy the other set. Check out my review over at PC Abusers. Here is a direct link: http://www.pcabusers.net/midiland8200/intro.html The last page at the bottom (also the first page, the last link called "comparison"), there is a link comparing the Midiland 8200s to the Klipsch 2.400 system. And yes, I have heard both systems. I have the Midilands, my friend has the Klipsch (keep in mind these are the "old" version). Hope this helps.
  14. NEC FP950 = $500.73 shipped http://products.onvia.com/gen/search/sap.asp?storecode=Hardware&prodid=1695255 All I can say is I own this monitor and it's beautiful. Every one of my friends that comes over falls in love with it and hates going home to look at thier POS 17" or 15". I'm 99% sure it uses the same trinitron tube sony uses, so they will probably look identical. The On-Screen controls are really easy and to top it off, you have the high res of 1920x1440@73Hz. Not too many monitors can go that high Not saying it's necessary (atleast not for me) but this monitor is everything the sony is, plus a little more (resolutions/Hz wise) AND it's cheaper.
  15. Ok, this is pretty immature, but a friend and I are arguing when the new 4.1's came out. He's telling me he went to the website and saw them about 3 weeks ago for sale. I'm telling him that they weren't for sale, it was just showing you them. I say they came out no more than a week ago. There are those lucky few that got 'em when Klipsch sent out a shipment early. Basically, can I get somebody reputable or actually, just anybody telling me the official date. I bet Amy knows The more post, the more it'll convence him I'm right Thanks.
  16. Spursfan2150 - What the hell dude? Are you like my long lost brother? My first Aerosmith concert (nine lives tour) was back on Septermber 21st, 1998 (yes, that is the exact date) I love aerosmith, man! I think their version of "Come Together" is better also. Bob Dylan's Hurricane is awsome. So is "All Along the Watchtower" -and- "Stuck inside of Mobile with the Mephis Blues Again" We're both 15 also! You have some good taste Spursfan2150. Check me out on napster to see my great list of songs: HipnoticTranz
  17. Aren't those also, about $600? I don't have cash flowin' outta every oraface
  18. My friend has the pros. They're alright, but I've been wanting to get a nice setup for DVD's and all in my room. I mostly listen to DVD's and music. I play games, also, but I spend more time on the net/listening to music/watching DVDs caues my cable provider is gay. My ping likes to spike like a mofo. I know sound is completely up to the user. I prefer the nice soft (what some people like to call "bland") midrange more than the Klipsch horns. It just sounds a lot "warmer" to me. I dunno, maybe it's just me. I'm curious if anybody here has had a chance to listen to these Midiland 8200's and what their idea of 'em was? If you were to compare 'em to the Klipsch, what would you say? They look like the best 5.1 solution out on the market right now. I've read all reviews on 'em cause I get bored . All I'm really curious about is how well the bass will shake my room (of course it depends on placement, but you get the idea) That's the only thing that *really* impresses me with the Klipsch. Right now I have some Altec Lansing ADA-305s (2.1 - decent for a 2.1 setup, really) but I need some better sound. Well, whatcha guys think about 'em?
  19. I thought I remeber asking this before but I don't remember if I got an answer. Has the hissy/scratchy noise when you turn up/down the pros been solved with the new 4.1 setup? or new CP-1 preamp? TIA.
