  1. I have been finishing the basement. I have run 16 gauge wire in the wall for my surrounds. Do I need to stick with 16 gauge wire for the fronts or can I go to 12 or 14 gauge? Would it make an ounce of difference? The speakers will be within 10 feet of the amp. I just want the best sound possible. I have read somewhere however all speakers should be the same gauge wire and I didn't know if this were really the case. Thanks
  2. I would love to see your audio pics as well. I love seeing pics of different setups. Hopefully someday soon I will be able to share pics of my own.
  3. Thanks guys, I will be sitting 10 -12 feet from the speakers. So seems i might not be going wrong with 90w but what about the HDMI? Is it worth it to upgrade just for the additional ports?
  4. Well I am just tinkering around with the idea of trading for the Onkyo for more HDMI ports. The Denon only has two and I was thinking it would make wiring a little easier. What do you think? Is it worth trading for more and up to date HDMI ports? After selling the 2807 and buying the Onkyo I would be out maybe 150.00. Is it worth the money? I really don't know. Within 2 months I will be running a cable box, game system, apple tv, and blu ray player. The tv has 3 hdmi ports. I am open to any feedback. Thanks
  5. My room is quite large. 19 x 30 x 9
  6. Hey guys I have klipsch RF, RC, and RS 25s. I am looking at the Onkyo TX-SR607. It is 90 watts per channel. Is this enough power? I am looking for a bargain but I don't want it to right. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  7. Wow thanks again guys for all of your replies. Thanks for the pic as well. i am going to move forward with my plans. I will attempt to post pics when it is finished.
  8. Thanks guys, just making sure before I give the go ahead. Things like this bug me and I just don't want any problems. Bill, I will be posting photos as soon as I get that basement finished. It has been a long work in progress but I am getting very close to finishing it. I look forward to sharing and hearing some comments. Thanks again!
  9. Hey guys I am having a tv stand built for a 54" panasonic plasma. It is just a basic stand with a door on each side with a shelf in the middle for the center and a drawer under the shelf. It will be roughly 72" long and 22" deep. The top of the cabinet will be 3/4 inch alder plywood. There will be a face plate around the front of the cabinet to help with strength. Here is my question. With the center needing a compartment that is 24" by 22" will I have trouble with 3/4 plywood bowing under the weight of the plasma. The cabinet maker says there is no way but I want to double check with anyone that may have had experience with this. That is a wide span for 100 pounds. Thanks
  10. Wow, that is a good price. Now if I could just find the 50" for around that price.
  11. Thanks for the responses. Here is another question. The G10 vs. the S1. They say they are the same panels. I have read the only thing I would miss would be the Viera Cast. Would I really miss that? If anyone has this, do you use it enough for a 150.00 price jump?
  12. Well I look and read, but I just can't get enough info before I drop the cash for a new tv. I like LCD but for some reason I like the Panasonic plasmas better. I don't know if it is the picture that is talking to me or my wallet. I am looking at the Panasonic 50" G15 at USApplance.com. I have ordered from them before and they do have a great price on the tv. Does anyone have this tv or the similar G10? Any comments about these plasmas before I purchase? I have read that the power consumption is MUCH better on the 2009 plasmas. Any knowledge on this. Are they getting closer to the power consumption of LCDs? Would this also mean less heat from the tv? Just thoughts I have. Thanks for any info you may have.
  13. Surely not, I have been looking at these stands for a while really wanting one. It looks like a fine advertisement for klipsch, it sure does look nice.

Yes, I have been having the same trouble. I can't seem to find one that will fit my Klipsch center. The best by far in my opinion are at http://www.standoutdesigns.com but you have to pay for them. I am thinking I will be having one made. You know, I don't know where you are located but there is a standout design one in Deleware on craigslist that may be what you are looking for.
  15. i know what you are saying winchester. He is a moron for not investigating the contractor. If I want a house built, I am not going to hire the first guy that knocks on my door and says he can build a house. I am going to interview several and get references and even go and see some houses they have built. Same with home theatre. If you are dropping that kind of cash on a system and having it "professionally" done, at least take the time to listen to some systems the guy has put together. This is not the way to save a buck or two. As my grandmother always tells me, "Jay, you get what you pay for"! It seems like every single time I try to save a buck by going cheap, I end up paying double in the long run.
  16. Thanks guys, I am going to check out the Salamander Design items at a local shop tomorrow. My wife and I are going to Atlanta tomorrow so I will also drop by Ikea to see what all they might have. I love the standout designs stuff too though. I am thinking I may have to go with custom made. I want a quality piece and I am thinking I can have one made for what one from standout or salamander would cost. I have it drawn out, so I need to run by a couple of shops and see what they can do.
  17. I am getting ready to buy the TV for our HT system. We are looking for a 52" LCD. I do not want to mount the TV to the wall. I want it on a TV stand. I would love for the stand to have a slot for a center channel centered under the tv. Well, this is hard to find! I have an RC25 so the slot has to have a little size to it, roughly 20" by 6". Any ideas where to find this? Right now we are leaning toward having our cabinet man custom make us a TV console. Just wanted to make sure we are not missing something. Oh, we don't want to go broke buying the TV stand and it must be wooden. Thanks,
  18. Or have I just begun? No, seriously. I started out purchasing a pair of RF 25 speakers on Craigslist. I had never heard them before. I rode down to Atlanta, had a listen, and bought them. I then found an RC 25 and RS 25s on eBay. I just finished up with a RW 12 from Audiogon. All items I have purchased are in mint condition. I know this is crazy but I wanted to get everything for as much as I would spend on a Bose set. Well, I was close. I came in just above the 1K mark. Not bad for something that I suspect will blow the Bose away. I just know lots of people with the Bose setup and I wanted to have something different and better at basically the same cost. Anyway, thank you all for answering my many questions, and now to finish the basement so I can set all of this stuff up. Oh, and I am sure I will have lots of setup questions. Thanks guys!
  19. Well that is what I was hoping. The center really does sound perfect at normal listening levels. I was just giving it a good workout since I just bought it used and I was trying to listen for any problems that I could find. When I was hearing the noise I was playing it loud and the bass was hitting really hard. I just couldn't figure out why it was making the noise on one size. I went back and listened again and I could hear it a little on the other side but just not as much. You have to listen pretty closely to even hear it. So, I am new to this whole HT thing. I have a few more question after reading your responses. 1. When I set up the HT will I also set the crossover point for the center speaker. It is rated down to like 60Hz I think? 2. If a speaker is rated at 60 Hz will it not play anything lower than that or will it play it but only distorted? I know these are probably dumb questions, but I have got to learn somewhere. Thanks
  20. Okay, I picked up a used RC 25 and I am loving it. I can't get over how good it sounds. I do not have it hooked up as a center yet. I hooked it up as the right speaker in my stereo setup upstairs. It sounds fantastic with every song I play, until it hits pretty hard. Just for fun I put in Flo Rida's "Low". When the bass hits, I hear a rattle in the left port. I don't hear anything in the right port. I was playing it pretty loud, but should it be making this noise on only one side? What do you all think. Thanks
  21. True! I just can't seem to get a good look at it to figure out what material. It is no big deal, just curious.
  22. I am looking for a new sub. I am looking at SVS, HSU, and Klipsch. I am scared of the port noise from the RW12. Do you hear this noise a lot? Is it bothersome? Do you hear the same noise from the HSU or SVS? Any and all help would sure be appreciated. Thanks
  23. I am looking for a sub to go with my system I am putting together. What material does HSU use for their cone? I love the look of the SVS but just curious about the HSU as well. Thanks
  24. Okay, I am just a little concerned from what I am hearing. I purchased a used 2807 Denon receiver. I also purchased a used pair of RF-25s. I loved the sound of the RF-25s when I purchased them. I hooked them up to my receiver last night and was listening to them just by simply selecting 2 channel stereo. They were not quite right. The music was fine but the voices were really weird. They were not natural at all. My question is could this be from the setup that the previous denon owner was running? Should I hook the receiver up to the tv and see how it is set up. Is there a way to manipulate the sound in 2 channel stereo? Please, give me some advice. Thanks
  25. Well, this is why I ask. I found a GREAT deal on the RC 52 and know that it is not what matches my RF 25's exactly, but I can't hardly pass it up when I can get it for less money than a RC 25. The Crossover frequency for the RC 52 is 1400, 1600. It seems the reviews are better for the 52 than the 25. I suppose if it is really bad I can sell it and easily get my money back for what I am paying. Thanks for your replies in my search for my HT.
