  1. I have tested the bass response by using my spl meter and walking around the room including the cornres to see if the reading was higher closer to the corners. The meter was reading about 6 to 10 db higher in the front of the room in general(by the screen and the corners mostly). I put some foam(mostly packing of all different sizes and thickness)on the walls and corners in different spots but the meter did not drop at all is it the type of foam i am using the placement or just foam in general. I am looking for a way to get that reading down about 5 db or so any insight on this topic would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.
  2. I read a post once that when you run auto set up you should leave the settings alone because it sets the trim levels and delay according to your room. When i test the settings against my spl meter the levels are way off according to the 70db setting on the meter. My question is should i leave the settings the auto eq sets or should i set all the speakers to the same level using the meter. I run the auto eq and then change the eq setting to off i think it sounds better this way. Thank you
  3. I have had the crossover at 60 and it sounded okay but at higher crossovers it just seems to feel more bassy. my center speaker only goes to 67hz but my mains go to 38hz the problem is my reciever does not have independent crossover settings. I run the auto set up which sets the delays and distance then i go back and and turn the eq off. Why not let almost all the LFE signal go to the subs?
  4. Hi there I have playing around with my crossover settings and found 90 to be a good setting, 100 sounds good to but at 100 you can start to localize the subs(i have three). I know everyone says 80 is the prefered setting but at 90 my speakers seem to have more life to them. Also anyone have any good tips on DIY bass traps ie: foam board insulation or sand columbs, any input would be helpful, Thank you
  5. Anyone out there using the Mitsubishi dlp hc3800 projector and if so what video settings are you using?
  6. which amp do you have? I am thinking about getting the upa-7. How much space do you have in your cabinet for your amp? I heard emos don't run very hot so you don't need a lot of breathing room.
  7. I have a yamaha rx-v663 receiver and i am thinking of using it as a preamp. The multi channel amp i am thinking of getting is the outlaw 7125. The question is my receivers preout section is rated at 1 V and the outlaw input sensitivity is rated at 1 v also so will i get the maxium signal flow to the amp with these ratings? I have heared some people talk about hooking up an amp to a receiver and not getting enough power to their speakers. Just wondering if this sounds like a good match before I invest in an amp. Thank you
  8. I have a yamaha rx-v663 reciever that i can switch between 8 and 6 ohms all of my speakers are 8 ohms will it increase the amps power if i switch it from 8 ohms to 6. I have read that it should increase slightly but i have also read that it is best to keep the reciever setting matched with the speaker impedence. Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter.
  9. I currently have my crossover set to 80 but sometimes i think 60 sounds better all of my speakers can handle down to 50hz except my center rc-52 wich is rated at 67hz. My question is will it damage my speaker to send it a signal it can not handle.
  10. does it make any difference if you set the crossover on the sub itself? I have my crossover set through my receiver and my subs crossover are dialed all the way up to 200. I was told this takes the subs internal crossover out of the equation and the receiver handles the crossover from the sub out jack. This true right? So is it pointless to crossover at the receiver and the sub itself?
  11. I have the mitsubishi hc 3800 dlp projector and love it for the price(about 1,200 with free shipping and a free lamp rebate through amazon). I think the rebate might be over
  12. Hello, I just finished my home theater about a month ago and everything is great except my subs. I have a energy 10" and a klipsch ksw 12" both are down firing subs. My room as concrete floors with padding and carpet. The problem is we built a riser for the back row of seats with pressure treated 2by6 and the sub in the back has more bass then the one in front due to the wood framing. If you sit in the back row you get a lot of bass if you sit in the front row you don't get as much due to the concrete. My goal is to have both rows of seating have the same bass feel to them. I tried putting a leftover piece of ceiling tile under the sub in the back and that seemed to help with rattle but i need more bass in the front. I can't move my front sub to a corner because that is where my front floor standing speakers are. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you. My room is treated with acoustical panels (owens corning 703)
  13. I went to the site but could not see any prices or how to order one
  14. I am looking for a wall hanging for my home theater, something klipsch related. I have looked all over the net and can't find anything does any one have any idea where i can find something like this?
  15. I'm just wondering why everything related to home theater is getting better and cheaper except for high current amps. Is it that there is no market for them so they can't sell them for less and still make money
  16. Does anyone know anything about Acurus amps? Did klipsch make them? Are they still being produced? Where can I get one?
  17. Hello I am a new member also. Sounds like you have a great system but you can never have enough right?
  18. I am thinking of getting a 3 channel amp for my home theater. I currently have a yamaha rx v-663 and really like the way it sounds and it has all of the new audio codes. It is rated at 95 watts per channel and does the trick for my current set up in my living room. Fronts rf-62 center-52 surrounds rb-51 subs ksw-12 energy esw-10 I will be moving everything to my basement which should be finished very soon. The room will be 286 square feet and I will have a 7.1 setup. My question is will I need a external amp or will my reciever be enough power? Just wondering if anyone has a similar setup that can give me some insight.
