  1. srobak, You may want to try placing your RC-62 where your HK receiver is and tilt it up toward the listening position, or if this is a permanent home theater location mount the flat panel on the wall and place the center on the top shelf just below the bottom of the panel. Why are the RS-42's on top of the RF-35's? [] Happy Listening, Ray
  2. The Yamaha RX-V663 is the best bang for your buck mid-fi receiver. The RX-V 663 has many advantages over the 463 and is the more powerful receiver. The measured advertised WPC power rating difference is very deceiving because the two receivers were measured in a different manner. The important specification is the measured distortion level and dampening factor at 20-20k. Don’t get yourself caught up in the WPC marketing game; you would need to double the amount of power output for a net 3dB gain. Look at the comparison below, besides the 663 being a 7.1 channel receiver I have highlighted the differences in red. The extra $200 buys you much more when you compare the two side by side. Leaving all the rest of the feature on the 663 out the fact that it has video up conversion, pure direct, decodes DTS Master and Dolby True HD internally is worth the extra $200 alone. 3. Assuming you have 8ft ceilings your room is approximately 1024ft^3. If this is an accurate assessment and you like listening at moderately high volume levels then choose the RW12. The new Yamaha RX-V663 is a very high bang for your buck receiver. http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=567571
  4. Here is a link for firmware updates for many Bluray players including the Sony 300. Follow the directions carefully when updating. http://www.blu-ray.com/firmware/
  5. PS3 or Panasonic BD30 are the two best currently on the market today. The PS3's discrete power on/power off has been solved and it's the first profile 2 Blueray player available with its newly release firmware and DTS-MA will be coming very soon. Check this link for more info. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/102770.aspx
  6. Hello all, As you know the PS3 can be operated with an I/R USB adapter but we were still lacking a power on power off from an I/R based remote, the problem has now been solved thanks to a start up manufacturer. Additionally the Playstation 3 is now officially the first profile 2.0 Blueray player on the market with the newly released firmware and DTS-MA will be coming for the PS3 in a soon to be released firmware revision. I am definitely not a Sony fan boy and detest just about every product they manufacture but I must admit the PS3 is truly an awesome Bluray player and ***COUGH*** Sony is supporting its platform admirably. http://ir2bt.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=5IR2BT $55.00 Model: IR2BT-01 Shipping Weight: 0.3lbs 30 Units in Stock The IR2BT - InfraRed to BlueTooth Converter for controlling your PS3 via universal IR remote. 7. Hey Fish, Make sure you download and install the latest firmware on the BD30 if its not already installed. The latest firmware will correct an LFE error and some playback issues with certain disks. After this firmware update is completed you will have a near flawless Bluray player. This is something very few early adopters can brag about. Below is a link to firmware updates for many Bluray players, select BD30 and follow the instructions. Regards, Ray http://www.blu-ray.com/firmware/
  8. Hello, Have to agree the PS3 is currently the best overall Bluray player available regardless of price. The PS3 is now the only true profile 2.0 on the market with its newly released firmware. The PS3 will also soon be getting DTS-MA in an upcoming firmware. The power off/on has is now workable with universal remotes thanks to a universal usb hub offered from a starter manufacture. I have installed just about every stand alone player out there and if you want a very reliable stand alone Bluray DVD player look at the Panasonic BD-30 @499
  9. Hello Ken, I have some quick questions for you before I give you some tips. First what frequency is the x-over set at on the Integra? If you have it set at a low frequency like 40-60 Hz does the LFE level output increase when you select THX processing? Tip1: Disable the subwoofer in the back of the room and play a continuous low frequency test tone though the subwoofer located in the front of the room at a loud level, THX reference would be a good choice. If you have a DVD with subwoofer frequency test tone use that to generate the low frequency, If you don’t have a DVD you can down load tones here. http://www.stompaudio.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6793 With the test tone now being produced from the primary subwoofer walk to the front of the room and slowly walk back to the listening position and beyond noting the differences in LFE output. Adjust your seat forward or back to the first practical position that had the most LFE, sometimes only a foot forward or backward will make a big difference. Tip2: Move the primary subwoofer from the front of the room and position it at the listening position leaving the secondary subwoofer at the back of the room disabled. With a low frequency tone playing in repeat through the subwoofer located at the listening position start at the front left corner of the room and crawl along all four walls slowly noting what positions reproduce the most LFE. If you have an SPL meter you can use that but you should note significant differences depending on where you are in the room. Once you have completed this figure out what location are suitable for the subwoofer and place it there. Now that you have the primary subwoofer placed at the practical location that produced the most LFE sit in the listening position and measure the LFE output with your SPL meter, if you don’t have an SLP meter you will just have to mentally note the amount of LFE. Once you get a good reading and feel for the amount of LFE change the phase of the subwoofer and re measure the amount of LFE at the listening position. If your subwoofer has a variable phase start at 180 degrees and work back from there. Set the phase at the position that produces the most LFE. You have now completed setting up the primary subwoofer. Setting up two subwoofer that have different specifications in the same room can be a little tricky without an acoustical analyzer but it can be done with a little patience and trial and error. Installing a second subwoofer in the room should help to even out the frequency response in a large room. To install the secondary subwoofer try installing it directly opposite of your primary subwoofer on the opposite wall. Once this is completed calibrate the secondary subwoofer to reference level, since you have two different subwoofers you might want to calibrate the primary subwoofer to -5db below reference and then calibrate the second subwoofer to reference level with both subwoofers reproducing the LFE tone. If done correctly this will insure that your primary or better subwoofer located in the primary position will be reproducing the majority of the LFE while the secondary or lesser subwoofer will be used for fill in. This may or may not be a correct solution depending on your room dynamics. Typically a +75 dB reading in most rooms using an SPL meter will end up sounding dry and a little week because there is an error reading low frequency’s using an SPL meter at the lower end of the frequency range. Generally adding +3-+5 dB to the adjusted subwoofer calibration will correct the calibration error. Relying on Automatic calibration software regardless of manufacture is NOT and alternative for low frequency calibration. Now that you have both of your subwoofers calibrated switch the phase on the secondary subwoofer, if you heard or measured an increase in SPL at the listening position this means the secondary subwoofer may be canceling out the primary subwoofers LFE output at different frequencys or it could be that the secondary subwoofers position interacts better with the room dynamic out of phase. If this occurs you will need to set the secondary subwoofers phase at the position that reproduced the most amount of LFE with the primary subwoofer reproducing the LFE in conjunction with the secondary subwoofer and recalibrate. Although this is not an optimal solution for installing subwoofers in a high end system it should get you in the ball park without using an expensive audio analyzer and equalizer. I hope I dint miss anything but I may have considering I have only had one cup of Java and it’s early. Best regards, Ray
  10. Hello David, If you take a digital picture of your room along with room dimensions, seated listening distance from front>back and side walls I will work up a quick room analysis for you with recommendations. Just PM me with the info and give me some time to work it. Best regards, Ray

  12. as far as rope caulking the speakers to my walls? Place two small dabs of rope calk on back of enclosure. Mount speaker, level speaker, push lightly on front of spaker toward the bottom. Ta-da speaker stays firmly in place flush against the wall and resonace is minimized. Sorry having the speaker stick out 1/4" at the bottom and flush at the top isn't getting it done in high end installation And if the wall is of light color it looks bad so a relief cut in the drywall must be done to accomadate the input cup and binding posts on the KS-525

  15. Hello Trey Having installed many of the Klipsch surrounds from KSP-S6 through the Reference series and many of the Pro THX systems I can tell you that all of them will sit flush and the input cup and binding post head doesnt stick out past the back of the enclosure. I brought this to Klipsch attention as soon as the KS525 shipped, as I was one of the first dealers to install the system. I have installed many more since then Awesome! HT speaker but the KS 525 does need several updates to keep up with the rest of the system. I will leave it at that and will comment further after CES I am looking forward to seeing the new THX inwall to use as the EX speaker's in a 7.1 THX Ultra setup
  16. That is what the 1/4 inch rubber "bump on's" are for...to keep the speaker off the wall for the BP and to keep the speaker from hitting the wall and making noise. I think the owners manual tells about this... I am well aware of the owners manual sticking rubber bumpers on the back of the enclosure so they stick out 1/4" from the wall suface is tacky at best. Flush mounting them on the wall is the best appraoch and for resonance control that is what rope calk or blue tack is for.Funny the RS-7 RS-3 or any of the previous surrounds had no such trouble
  17. The "update" you read was not published by Klipsch and not accurate. There is no change to the Ultra 2 series speakers. Well that too bad they need to be. Has any one at Klipsch tried to install these on a wall without cutting a relief in the wall for the binding posts? They wont hang flush because the binding posts stick out 1/4" past the back of the enclosure. That is an engineering oversight IMOHO.
