  1. LOL!!!!!!!

I noticed a little negative feedback starting to creep into Captnfixr's profile. Maybe someone finally realized that the only thing the Captain is Fixing are the prices...

  2. LOL...I saw Thin Red Line in the theater, slept through half of it, and missed absolutely nothing. If I never see another shot of quietly flowing green fields it will be too soon.

  3. Sorry to say I saw the heading of this post and was ready with a response until I realized that we were talking about woodworking, and not IP routing...LOL

I'll politely excuse myself now and allow the real experts to chime in....

  5. Rob,

That set-up is simply awesome! It was great hosting you a month or so ago, and now you've inspired me even more to be on the lookout for a local pair of black Fortes to complete my little system. cwm12.gif

BTW, thanks to you and HornEd, I'm now a convert when it comes to a timbre-matched front end. The KLF-C7 was good, but the Academy is simply smooth perfection when mated with those Chorus II's.

Also, that playlist you posted has some great stuff on it -- I'd recommend it to anyone on this board who's about to depart for an audition. Stuff a couple of those CD's in your bag and you won't be disappointed.

Can't you just hear William Shatner uttering those last four words in parentheses??

    Don't ask me why...

  7. Sorry Doug, I cannot tell a lie. I Googled "Marantz fuse lamps" and up they came. I knew they were called "fuse lamps" because I blew a pair in one of my amps last year.

Hey, glad it worked out! cwm12.gif

  9. Folks,

FYI, I'm the guy who purchased the Academy from Ed. Since this site is not primarily geared towards buying and selling, there's no place to provide public feedback when transactions occur between board members. Nonetheless, I think it's important to recognize the high quality folks amongst us. I have had the opportunity to make a number of acquaintances as a result of this board, and each person I've met or dealt with is an outstanding individual. Ed is no exception. It was a pleasure conducting the transaction with him, and the Academy is in even better condition than he let on. In addition, if Ed ever decides to start his own shipping business, I'm his first customer - the packing job was first rate. Ed is a true asset to our little Klipsch on-line community. Thanks again Ed! cwm30.gif

Now I only wished I lived closer to Atlanta so I could hear those K-horns and Moondogs in action!

    Regards,

    Colin

  10. Mobile,

I see a micro-publishing opportunity here. Mobile's "Secrets to Bidding on EBay", complete with illustrations and diagrams, all for only $9.99. Given your proficiency with web design and graphics, as well as your writing skills, this should be a no-brainer. Get an off-the-shelf micro payment system, plug it into your site, and you should up and running by day's end. Sign me up for a subscription!

    Cheers,

  12. I think we all tried about a year ago to convince the Webmaster to create a new forum expressly for the purpose of buying and selling used Klipsch. Last time I recall, the idea died on the vine in the Klipsch legal department. Not sure why -- with the appropriate legal caveats, e.g., Klipsch makes no warrants or representations regarding the validity of the information presented herein, nor will it be held responsible for the claims and actions of the forum's participants, and the forum is for the express purpose of noncommercial transactions, yada, yada, yada -- we could be up and running. Some smart lawyer at Klipsch should be able to craft a couple of paragraphs that gives them the protection they need, while providing us with a useful conduit for private party transactions and protecting the interests of their retail dealer network.

    My 2 cents,

  13. Remember those old tube testers they used to have at the local hardware stores???? A big old console with various sockets for a variety of tubes.

    750.jpg

Too bad they're not still around.

Your post resurfaced good memories of my dad and I going down to the hardware store on Saturday mornings. He'd be shopping around for nuts and bolts, and I usually had free reign, as long as I didn't cause too much trouble. I used to make a bee line over to the tube tester and play around with that thing, even before I knew what it actually did.

Hmmmm, did I just date myself?? cwm36.gif Nonethless, thanks for the good memories...
