  1. That was my idea. It only has one spring and it's a little tough to get to. But I do have bolt cutters that might just reach in there. I also called the manufacturer and the lady I spoke to said the display model might have been worn from that many people sitting in it. Well, I think that's possible but improbable. I mean, there was a LOT of difference between the two. The company is sending me another seat plate assembly anyway. However, another thought I had was to offer the store to swap out the plate on their display model for the one I got. That would make their chair more closely be a representation of their back stock for sale. While also satisfying me and giving me what I needed. I would even offer to do the labor in the store to change them out.
  2. I THOUGHT there was something wrong with it. I threw out a jar from the fridge because it smelled different. But the new I grabbed a new jar from the cubbard and it smelled the same.
  3. Then we went to tour Ft. Knox and did a couple naughty things there... We had lunch in one of the mess halls where my brother got his fountain drink. He mixed Pepsi and seltzer with a little ice. Mixed in the right portions in looked just like a draft beer. A couple soldiers were dropping their forks in disbelief. Then we went to the base gift shop. The scouts got out of our bus and started climbing on a Sherman tank that was near by at the rifle target range. Then a C.O. came running out of a building yelling "Get off that thing. It's LIVE!!"
  4. O.K., way back just before I was in Cub Scouts, I used to tag along with my two brothers' Boy Scout trips while my father was a Scout Leader. One place we went was Camp Carlson just outside Ft. Knox in Kentucky where we stayed in an old log cabin that was the size of about a ten car garage. It had some leftover furniture in it and one of item was an old wooden office chair. These kids found a piece of rope and tied it around the chair with somebody in it while they swung the chair and rider around in circles as fast as they could. Then let go of the rope to see what the chair and rider would crash into. Did I mention the adults were all outside drinking beer around the campfire??
  5. Watch out Jimmy!!! (I like her version better than the original (but get rid of that vocalist....))
  6. Who do I PM my adress to for my new Forte IV's. 😆😆
  7. Hi y'all, I bought a Lay-Z-Boy office chair that is real comfortable to me. I'm not a real big guy at only 145 lbs. and I do like to lean back sometimes and type on the computer. Thing is I have yet to come across a new chair will lean back with my svelt weight in it. So, as the title asks, has anyone ever cut a couple of coils out of the tilt spring on something like this??
  8. But, then again, what would I do with em'..... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/417621439988786/
  9. That's kind of where I was going also for a Shure V15xMR I have (and love). I was really fortunate in the early 2000's to take Shure up on an offer where you could buy a replacement stylus (in this case a VN35HE) for a replacement for $20 EACH!! But you had to send them back your worn or broken one (I talked them into two of them since I had two V15V cartridges ). THEN the price of beryllium for the cantilevers went through the roof and for a short time they went to boron.
  10. It really does! I've only changed whole cartridges for different kinds of music but I would have absolutely NO idea how many hours are on it.
  11. When I worked for a stereo store in the early 80's we sold this line. I remember having customers that wanted to upgrade (or downgrade) from the cartridge body they had to a higher or lesser stylus. This was how Ortofon kept them from simply swapping them out. The one in LPGear's ad has a kind-of C-channel or an I-Channel shape to the part that insert into the body. Where mine has a sort-of hour glass shape.
  12. I was loosely looking into a replacement stylus for my Ortofon VMS-30 mkII cartridge. I see that Jico does make one for about $150 shipped. Then I read in the same ad that the life-span was 150 hrs. That seems awfully low to me. Any opinions?
  13. Figures, I'm gonna be in Charlotte in March.....
  14. Wow!! What an improvement!! This morning I decided to give the machine a real test. Back in 1976, local rock radio station WEBN 102.7 started compiling music from local artists for the production of an album for charity (United Way). That first album was titled "The Vinyl Days" on the BFS (Brute Force Cybernetics) label. The sonics, by today's standards, weren't the best but I'm sure they did their best. After a few years later, the station would put out another album every year. This went on for about 25-years or so. I've asked the station if there would ever be a CD of TVD but I never got a reply. I've got a few copies of "The Vinyl Days" hoping to find a really clean copy so I could transfer it to CD and store the little biscuit. The only cleaning these copies have seen was the usual Discwasher D3/D4 brush and fluids. This thing now sounds as if it were 1976 again!!
  15. So far so good...but. The guy I bought it from didn't have any fluid left (just the empty Okki Nokki concentrate bottle) so all I had left was some ancient fluid from my 35-year old Discwasher D4 kit. I should probably get a better brush too. THEN after my wife goes to work tomorrow I can crank up a newly cleaned album. Tonight, though, I snuck in Andreas Vollenweider's "Behind the gardens..." album so she could get some sleep as it played. 😎 But that was cheating a little as my copy is in REALLY good shape to begin with. Just not a 1/2 Speed Master. The replacement micro-fiber strips for the arm seem a bit expensive for what they are. The guy I bought it from is close to Klipsch's HQ in Brownsburg, IN and has his own low-watt radio station (96.9MHz??). He says he up graded from this unit to an ultrasonic fir his Clearaudio TT. He said he didn't like the goat-hair brush that came with it as it would leave a bristle behind here and there.
  16. I found an Okki Nokki second hand for $400 and brought her home today. It didn't come with much fluid or a brush, so I'll have to order some. Or mix my own home brew after some research. LOL!! The thing sounds like a tiny shop vac. 😆
  17. Just wanted to do some light reading since I picked up an Okki Nokki this afternoon.

  19. They found a new use for an old crappy product. 😄
  20. There's one for $500 in Lawrenceburg, IN. https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/msg/d/lawrenceburg-klipsch-la-scala-speaker/7373179400.html
  21. Depends on which sites pay the top dollar to Google to be tops in the list of hit from the inquiry. I went through that with my company.
