My new credit score is back up to 801-803. Still lower than what it was by about 10 points but that should come back too.

I still think it's because both PayPal and Chase bank' security system automatically rejected a purchase I wanted to make for some $3,800. I called Chase BEFORE the purchase and they told me there was no need to notify them. That if I had the room on my account it would go through just fine.....(Price is Right buzzer sound).

  2. Last summer Case had a very close call. You guys out west will probably remember this.

During his off hours he would fly recon for the wild fires out west. Taking a retired fire chief to assess where the chemical drop tankers should go.

So, one day he was scheduled to go up but couldn't because the Cessna was due to come back from maintenance in California to Arizona. And Case was the only one type rated for that plane in the company. So, they sent up someone that could fly the Beechcraft King Air C90 for the recon.

One wing of the plane came completely off, crashed, and killed both men. Case said last time he flew that plane the hair of his neck stood up cause things just didn't feel right. Turns out the company that owned the C90 was wayyyyy behind on all their maintenance.

How nice. So Case is Lorrie's Son-in-law?  I wonder what 2 hours rental on a plane like that would be? $10K maybe?

Case is Lorrie's son (but not my son). May Lee is her daughter-in-law but I call her my daughter-in-law too. In turn she calls me her father-in-law even though Lorrie and I aren't married. But we tell people in public Lorrie and I are (God awful complicated).

I asked Case how much my ticket would have been considering there were six passengers on board for time and fuel. For 10-12 minutes, one passenger would have been about $700. The plane was going in for maintenance for 8-weeks about 30-miles away at another airport. So we all tagged along for the drop-off. Case is the captain, the co-pilot is to his right out of camera view. This plane always has to have two people at the controls.

A couple of years ago, when Case and May Lee got married, if was his idea to fly the families from southern to northern Arizona (they lived in the south). But even though he was borrowing the Cessna (above) the company he worked for (and made a lot of money for) wouldn't cut him any deals. Including the paying for the co-pilot's hotel bill till they flew back the next day.

The whole point was Case wanted to pilot the plane filled with the families to their own wedding.

  4. I did and there weren't any.

One credit reporting (Transunion) said I had a note on my account. I looked at the note and it said my e-mail and password is on the dark web. But it's an old password from years ago.

I don't think any credit lines closed that I know of. Don't they have to give you notice when that happens?

  5. So, I check Credit Karma and my credit score took a 65-POINT HIT!!!

My score is normally in the 810-815 range and now is 753. I made no big purchases and I called each credit card and they don't see anything either.

Is this similar to when Chase Bank cut my credit line in half just because they could? Or is there some government involvement goin' on here??

  6. Here's my blurb from a cross-posted site:

The McIntosh MEN220 Room Correction System and 2-Way Crossover. What else can you say about this wonderful piece of engineering from one of the leaders in audio reproduction? This unit is 9 of 10 condition (and I’m being conservative in that grading). Everything that came with the unit from the factory is included with this sale: the unit, power cord, remote, calibrated microphone with cable, original manual with additional printouts, heavy duty original double box and protective foam corners.

To be completely fair, the remote does have very light wear just because…..well….it’s a remote that gets handled. On one of the pictures there is a smudge (not a scratch) on the right side of the unit. I would say if you’re not looking for it or if it’s inside of a cabinet you probably wouldn’t notice it. I haven’t been able to find any other marks on it. This is why I graded it as a 9 of 10. MEN220 Software Ver. 1.3 and Room Perfect Ver. 1.6.

This is a steal of a price! Given that these retail now for $6,000 and that’s on top of a 6 to 7-month wait for delivery if you went to an authorized McIntosh dealer. Best grab this now because these don’t last long on any of the selling sites in the United States.

Sales only to CONUS and I will ship once funds are cleared. Local pick-up is available in West Chester, Ohio (a few miles north of Cincinnati). Buyer pays for shipping (I would strongly suggest and use GROUND shipping).

Price: 3,599 + shipping. Very firm (cause that's what I have in it :) )

    Thank you for your attention.

  7. I'm Interested in one of these and I'm seeing if you guys have a line on one. :)

Yesterday I went to a dealer and they had on one display but they're not allowed to sell it because it still belongs to McIntosh. However! I did listen to it through a Mc integrated, MC611 amps and Sonus Faber Aida speakers (at $120,000/pr.)

Aside from the impedance difference I can't say what the difference is from a sound perspective.  If you have any anecdotal evidence to the difference please post it, I'm curious too.

If anything, you've extended the life of that speaker sounding good for another 30-years+. 🙂

Thanks for sharing that crossover, $50 for the whole set of speakers is a great deal!   The cabinets we found were that much alone.

Are you doing anything to pull the tweeter down?  (I don't see any resistors in it)  Your picture reminded me to ask, why and when would a designer use a ferrite core inductor as opposed to an air core?  I see both here and I assume the ferrite is used parallel to the speaker and air is series.

Going back up a number of posts, the comments on resonances has been resonating with me, it seems that cabinet resonances are wasted energy that could otherwise be applied to the passive radiator were that energy not being used to move the wood.   Is there anything available to read on why and how they tuned the KGs to work with the resonances to enhance bass?

To protect the tweeter, and not in view here, is a Raychem Poly Switch (79 cents each?). If things get too loud for too long this thing will act like a house breaker for the tweeter till the music gets turned down and the switch cools down. No need to open the cabinet up and reset anything, it'll do it by itself. As far as attenuating the tweeter; this design doesn't have a transformer much less one with multiple taps to choose from. So, you'll have to just turn down the tone control at the pre-amp/receiver.

As far as using an iron core inductor vs. an air core; Air-core inductors are much more expensive and designed for higher power applications. For instance, nobody would expect their KG4's to get as loud as their K-Horns (even though the K-Horns are more efficient). But, in this case as well as most, it's more important to have the correct electronic value. As far as replacing the inductor? Don't bother, they either work or they don't. There is no changing value over time that (can) happens with capacitors.

If you're going to do this yourself, here is a very important thing to do. You'll notice I put some hot glue at the contact points of the capacitors. This is because the inside of a speaker is a VERY hostile place when it comes to vibrations. Vibrations, over time, will cause connections to fatigue and break. Much like bending a paperclip the same way till it breaks in two. Since I took this picture, I loaded up even more hot glue just to be sure.
