  1. these deals make the one i got not look all that good. 2 RF7, 2 RB5II, 1 RC7 - $1400 oh well im still happy
  2. that just means people are u sing the search feature!
  3. So my wife and I finally came to an agreement. The RF7's stay in the room so does the RC7. The RB5's gotta go. (until I find a way to mount them up in the corners Having removed the the RB5's that free'd up the Surround channels. So this is what I did. Attached the Front channel to the LF (woovers) on the RF7's and the Surround to the HF (tweeter). Then I set the Receiver to 5 CH Stereo. Lowered the Surround channel levels 1. The difference was amazing. I did this to the left channel first, and disabled the center channel. Then I turned on some music, and turned it up. The left channel just came alive. The Right speaker sounded good still, no doubt. But the left just had so much more body and life to it. So i went a head and did the right channel. Then i put the feet on, finally.... I can turn it up louder now, and everything sounds cleaner and more robust. "Bi Amping" these speakers really brought them to life. FYI, My Receiver is a Yamaha Natural Sound 5730. (200$ 3yrs ago @ Best Buy)
  4. hahaha yes. That is what I discribed. sorta. and yes, that would make me happy..... lol. ty Although, imsure you know that i ment something like a supersized RF-7 w/ seperate mid/tweeter 12" copper colored exposed woofers would just be sexy and speakers need sex apeal imo.
  5. Bigger is better right??? What we need is.... A Dual 12" Reference Style Floor standing speaker with seperate midrange and tweeter horns... It would be like a supersized, Reference Heresey with bass. Any chance one could "special order" such a thing from klipsch? Or call me retarded and i'll go back to watching tv! lol.
  6. checked it out today. Dont know what it WAS. Not having problems. Still lovem. This thread can now die.
  7. why must you all be sleeping. Wake up! To add to waht i said earlier, to further paint the picture... It continued to happen even after i turned the volume down and changed songs. And it is just that left speaker, top 10". I have since unhooked the RF7's and am using the RB5's in Stereo.
  8. Remember! It is hard to compare TV's at any retail stores. None of the Displays are clibrated, except for some of the displays in Magnolia (at best buy). They are set to one of the default settings, and none of them are set to the same. Some are set to Vivid (which is the worse thing ever, but often used because it stands out and "looks better" around other displays". forexample, when i brought my TV h ome it was set to vivid. I switch back and forth, and omg its aweful. THAT is why alot of times LCD's will look "better" than Plasma's on the wall. As you had mentioned in your original post, the LCD's looke brighter. Ask them to set everything to the "standard" setting, and compare blacks, colors. etc. especialy the details in the blacks and white areas.
  9. This may repeat some of what others have said, because i didnt bother to read it... I just wanted to share with you what i found while shopping for my TV. I rescently purchased a 50" 1080P Panasonic Plasma. Cost: 1,199$. Why did I choose it? 1.) No LCD that I tested can hold a candle to the colors that a plasma can reproduce, or the black levels. Except for some of the uber expensive new LED models. Again why pay 3x more for something that performs almost as well? 2.) my TV has a 480hz refreshrate. (or is it 600...not the point) You have to pay a premium to get a LCD with 120!! 3.) I looked, i waited... I pounced when the price was right. Best Buy, Floor Model. I haggled themdown. Since I agreed to buy the color calibration, i actualy purchased the TV from best buy for LESS than what they bought it for from Panasonic... They pulled it up on the computer and showed me. I later returned the color calibration service before they came out.... I calibrated it my self, its easy, if you have the patience and wanna spend hours playing with different things to figure out what they do and how they effect each other.......... Is 50" big enough. It gets the job done. If I could have afforded it, i would have bought a 58" Panny Plasma with out a doubt. Just to put it in to perspective real quick. I have a friend who just spent 500$ more on his 46" LCD Samsung at Best Buy. I went to his house and checked it out. He had it professionaly calibrated which brought it up over 2k$. Black details were aweful, simply aweful. Colors very unnatural. I feel bad for the guy, but i didnt tell him.
  10. Disaster strikes : / I cant say this hasnt been there from the begining because quite honestly i havent been pushing these speakers all that hard. I was just listening to one of my Focal test CD's, a track with a drum solo. I had it turned up and i started noticing somthing, odd... coming from my left RF-7. upon closer inspection with my ear. It its a crackly sound..... I'm thinking blown? I did have the bass turned up +4 on the reciever and had the tracking playing fairly loud. It does have a good amount of bass from the kickdrum as well. They are set to Large to. I just dont believe that, THAT blew 1 of the 10"ers.... Thoughts? Tomorrow I'll be disecting that speaker to see whats up, and i'll test the driver independantly.... I just dont feel like doing it right now, i got work in the morning.
  11. The test Movies so far... Jurassic Park, Iron Man, Dark Knight I've listend to just about every CD I own (not in their entirity). I love these speakers. The RF-7's are Crystal clear, they go low quite nicely. Obviously not low enough to not need a sub, but still they do a descent job. Imaging even in the far from perfect setting that they are in is very very good same with the sound stage. The RC-7 is as many have said before, an amazing center channel. It impressivly hangs with the RF-7's all day even when set to LARGE. As for the RB-5. Doing an A/B compare with the RF-7's. The RB's are definatly more effecient obvioulsy. But I'd say that they sound damn near as good as the RF7's in the mid to upper ranges and in the lower end like a smaller RF7. A/b Comparison with the SB-3's sitting between the RC and RF reveiled that they have a much much fuller midrange/middbass, cleaner high's and significantly better bass. I was suprised that they are practicaly the same size. As far as Harshness... The only time I notice it is when i am sitting at my computer listening to music... As you can see in the 1st picture, where I am standing (which you cant see) is where my computer is. 6 feet to my left about 2 inches up is the horn on my RF7...... Just yesterday i went to a local independantly owned hgih end A/V store and listend to some subs. while listening to subs there were some 700$ B&W's Playing (each). Not only are my RF-7's twice the man (2x bigger) than the B&W, they sounded better I M O. that changed however when I took a listen to the 14,000$ B&W's. yum. Back on topic however. It made me think again how awesome it was that I got not only the RF7's that own those B&W's for the price of the B&W's, but I got (2)RB-5 and (1)RC-7 for free I love these speakers and THAT my friends, is all I have to say about that. for now.
  12. PICTURES Sorry for the crappy quality. It seems my Wife/Daughter/SistersInLaw have managed to break every digital camera the family owns....
  13. oh, and my wife still doesnt get it...... although.. she did seem to enjoy it when i turned on transformers. It was on HDMax. We caught it at the scene where they are fighting the scorpian like robot in the desert at the begining of the movie. I turned it up and it sounded awesome. I think she could tell the difference, but she'l never admit it, or admit that she liked it..
  14. hahaha you guys crack me up. especialy you fizzle I hooked the RF's up last night. I am not happy 1.) Listening to CD's off an XBox + HDMI to the Plasma +RCA out to the + 200$ Yamaha receiver = A Very revealing listening session. 2.) My stupid bed 1/2 way blocks the woofers.... As forward as these speakers already are they dont need any darn help 3.) My rooms tiny, 10'x15' so they are about...7' from me. 1 side has a crib and bare wall, the other has curtins. Listening to a Focal Test CD I have and chills went up my spine. I've listened to that CD hundreds of times in my car. (1995 Honda Del Sol with 3 way Dynaudio's, 10" SWX Alpine bhnd the pass. seat) and this is the first time I can say that listening to music at home is more enjoyable!!!!!! *the downside however.... it makes me want to push my car even further lol. 2 Channel was definatly better than 5 chan stereo, or even ProLogic II Music settings. Again though, turning it up to loud just led to alot of uncomfortable sounds that just dont belong b/c of the crap equipment. I'll prob. be putting them up this weekend, so i'll take some pictures before I put them up. Honestly, Every time I look at them I remember all those times when i was younger and my grandfather would take me to hillcrest hi fi. (stereo shop in texas) and i'd listen to, drool over all the different speakers. I always figured one day id get something along the lines of the RF-3 or Paradigm Monitor's. Now I have RF7's and RC7 and RB5's!!!! it just hasnt set in yet :/ I still cant believe that i picked them up for so cheap.
