  1. I myself would stick with the RF63's and the matching RC64. Spend the extra money into a 5.1 rather than a 7.1 you'll get much better sound over all putting more effort into the front sound stage.
  2. If you can find a Onkyo 807 you'd be well off. I have the 805 paired with the RF82's, RC62, and RS52's and love it. Don't get the 806 though, the amps last year sucked in them.
  3. it has nothing to do with the fact that its a MONSTER product, granted there cables are over rated but a surge protector is a good investment no matter what brand you purchase.
  4. I have theater set ups in my home, my living room as well as a dedicated theater room, both of which I am using power conditioners. Currently I am using Monster Power 2400 powercenters, now you can choose whichever brand you want. The main thing is it protects my components from power surges as well as stops my video components from electrically interferring with my audio components therefore helping provide the best picture and sound from my components.
  5. The LED LCD's are only worth a crap if they have local dimming, if not don't waste the money on them. As mentioned before Sony and Samsung are your two top competitors in the LCD market. I sell TV's and Home Audio for a living and would recommend the Samsung B630 and above models with the exception of the B6000 and B7000, Sony's W5100, Z5100, and XBR9. These models will be more expension than others yes, but offer the best picture quality to really give you the HD experience. The best LCD on the market is Samsungs LED with local dimming is 55B8500, this is the closest an LCD has come to betting a plasma when it comes to black levels.
  6. I'm running the exact same speaker set up but with the Onkyo 805 as my pre amp and an Emotiva XPA 5 as a seperate amp. No distortion at all. My mains are set to 80hz as well as the center allowing the sub to take car of the rest. I think the distortion you may be hearing is the sub trying to handle to much work above 80hz. Try lowering the sub and the RF82's to 60 or 80hz.
  7. I'd say yhe KSW 12 depending on the condition of it. May I ask they want for either? Elemental Design makes some great subs are very reasonable prices.
  8. Plasma's are going nowhere, they are here to stay. The reason people buy LCD's is because they are misinformed about plasma's. They got a bad wrap when they first came out because of false recharging claims, burn in, and power consumption. Plasma's have a half life of 30years anymore, burn in is a thing of the past, and they are all energy star compliant. LED's are just the newest cool thing, the Samsungs are side lit so they are just making the TV thinnner thats all. The LG's and Toshiba's are doing local dimming, where they can shut off or dim different parts of the picture to products better contrast. They exact same thing plasma's have been doing for years except they do it by firing off different phosphurs at different temperatures to produce colors. Not only to the do it cheaper but they do it better and they have the new slim models to compete with super slim LCD's like the Samsungs B860 and Panasonics wireless Z1.
  9. The Denon 1910 is a great choice but I would also recommend the Onkyo 607. It can be found around $450, great easy to use AVR, plenty of power with clean detailed sound.
  10. I don't know about the forum but I hate them. They have a decent picture but they lack a lot of detail and thats what HD is for, detail. I myself sell hometheater products for a living and sell many tv's and a large majority of them are Samsung LCD's. The B530 is great but the B550 add's a better screen and USB port for viewing photos. If you can get the extra $$ for the B630 (120hz) you won't be disappointed at all. The 630 is the best bang for you dollar out there in the LCD market.
  11. I actually work for the local dealer in our home theater department. We sell the Reference line but the upper end products are all special order, so we only order them when a customer specifically asks for them. Unfortunately for that reason I've never been able to do a head to head comparison between them. I think around Christmas I'm going to just pull the trigger on it and hope the wife doesn't kill me.
  12. I just have the upgrade bug. One of my friends has the 64 and the RF82's but nothing is calibrated its all just blah. He's mounted it to his wall and won't let me take it to my house for a day to see the difference. So I'm at a loss right now.
  13. bose jewel cube speaker do not have a cross over built inside them, all crossovers are built within the bass module them selves. You must run everything through the bass module first or you will blow them.
  14. First post here, I currently own the Klipsch RF82's, RC62's,RS52's, and an Elemental Designs A5-350 being powered by an Onkyo 805 and an Emotiva XPA 5. My question is would I be benefiting greatly going from the RC62 to the RC 64? I know the different horn drivers and a sealed enclosure but will it be an improvement over my current set up with the different timbre matching speakers?
