In red :-) I tried a contour network, I they seemed more alive without... Maybe not as refined, but feeling more present. Forgot to snap pics with the drivers in place. The minimonitors are really nice from 60hz on up but its obvious that the cabs are the limiting factor. The same AN8 in dave's cab shows that there are limits to the drivers too. The cab allows the drivers to stretch down much much lower. As I already have 3 large speakers, Im keeping my mini monitors, but my budy will be taking the Full size cabs from me in time. He was impressed by the size of the sound stage and just how airy they sounded.

1626 Darling amp... The baby 300b I have an over built 300b that outputs 5 watts and will go cleanly to 20hz and full power and this lil bad boy still holds its own will an amp costing 3x as much. So a single AN-8 and .6watts and loving it :-)

Dave was kind enough to design and build these for me... The improvement is incredible. Now I just need to finish them in fire engine red :-) Im not sure how I could describe these... incredible coherent and treble without beaming. My Big 3 Way cornscalas are still my true reference, followed by his Yeilds. The Yeilds very special crossover never adds to mid band and muddles things. My 2nd Cornsalas (2way) are just so much fun. The AN-8 in the mini monitor cab will be boxed an given to my daughter int the coming years... The Minimonitior at 19" tall is great, easy to live with in size... but seriously lacking in mid bass bloom and bottom-end weight... the same to be said for the monitors which are taller and wider, but not enough so to go deep. We took the AN-8s from the monitor cabs and placed them into the bigger 40" tall cabs and the sound stage and wight were changed for the positive. The 40" tall cabs allows you place at ear height without needing stands. So many times we say... Ill get those and never do and are not satisfied with the results... These cabs stop the problem for arising. I had only been playing vocal jazz, and classical on these prior. They seems wonder and romantic, but polite. Dave picks some jazz track that sounds more like deadmouse and these things are digging really f*cking deep. Enough so that we all thought a sub was helping. Truth be told, I have too much audio stuff. Most of us on here do... These are cabs that I will be keeping. (Ive parted ways with my Heresy's, CS1 and AN monitors). Ive kept 2 examples of cornscala's, 1 pari of yields, 1 pair of mini monitors and now these 40" point sources. If I were building anew, if you can handle the bigger cabinet size the CS1.5 and the Harris 40" singe drivers are worth side by sides. The 40" tall singe driver can be had for nearly have the price. Source cabs from Dave or ask for plans and then get your favorite 8" driver. No crossover no muss, no fuss. The CS1/CS1.5/ Econowave prob has more bass, but is less efficient and less coherent... My 40" cabs are in dry dock till I can afford to finish in red. Im running the minimonitors as were speak on my freshly minted darling... .6watts :-).

Subjectively, I like the DE85 over my HF200s, enough so to sell the HFs in the coming months and buy a 2nd set of DE85s. If I didnt have the resources to do, I would happily live the 1 of each set. Im not sure if Ill hear a diff in 3 way. in 2 way setup the DE85 was more relaxed. It would be a great shoot out between the JBL Faital and B&C.

What Id like to know if how the audio Nirvana's might sound in the Fostex backhorn that Madisound sells... They have a 3 enclosures the 2 larger seem like a possible choice? Anyone have exp?

Kregtool.com If you search for it youll find multple vendors sell it. Its widely used. If you go mirco youll need the 4" David basically sugests that its a bad idea to use the miro unless its a sat system. He does have a KISS plan which offers a bit better performace than the micro, esp for the 4". Im really happy with the minimonitor.... I do plan to build the 40" Dave has begun to degin, reuse my drivers and ee what a cab chnage can do.

The smaller is called the mini-monitor, the larger is the monitor. Go bigger if your have the room. Dave Harris has these cabs already plugged into his router... might ask him to cut and flat pack you a pair. 1 set he was kind enough to built the monitors were flat packed. I used glue and my Kreg kit to screw and glue it :-). I think the sound is very Quad 57... Mids to die for and very airy highs... the bass is not anywhere near the yields or cornscala's... .More LaScala :-)

I finished the Cabs. One set went to my finisher, 1 set I did... turned out the same. The Spawn horns/ furgal horns are great in concept the price is crazy for the flat pack utility grade for $800. Having both cabs, I can hear subtitle differences. Big is better, but I can happily live with the little ones. Dave and I have been in discussion re a 40" tall narrow face version. It is spooky just how stunning these speakers can be, but the right height for placement is key. The 40" version allows floor placement without need for supplemental stand. My exp for best results has been with SE amps... my 300b comes to mind and low capacitance speaker wire. These sound their best with vocals, jazz and classical… no rock or heavy bass and the adore low power. Im building another darling amp that might pair well. 2 options that seem to make good sense on paper i:1. the mini-monitor but placed on a table if possible… Great size, easy to work with and 90% of the sound. 2. The 40” tall narrow baffle. You could get crazy and add 2-4” as a separate cavity and fill with dry sand… Would clean up and mid bass flab and make the speaker more stable… But then it add build complexity.

I'm going to order the cast drivers for the next one or maybe cut the hole bigger and go stamped 10

Wasn't sure what to expect... very impressed even with these little cabinets. The Cabinets are from Dave Harris... God bless CNC mills :-). The cab is not the most inert and and any box designing software says it should sound like crap... but it dose'nt... the mid bloom and attack and sustain is great... the low-end is a seamed but you cant have everything in this small a speaker. These are the mini monitors... perfect for low volume listening not to wake the wife. I had dave cut the monitors which ill but very soon.

The grills were redone by my upholstery guy. They look great. Very stock looking.

Fastlappy: Dave's speakers replaced a very similar setup. I too had a set of cornscala's with the PH800 horn/ New k55, eminence 15c, Bob Crites tweeters and Bobs crossover. This was an incredibly solid performer. Its single cab, though bigger than a cornwall was still something my wife could accept. The sound really was my reference. I went on to build or own many other types of klipsch speakers. Including La Scala's, Heresys and split cornwalls with K401 horns. Throughout these projects, my reference remained constant... the best mid to high coherence and very good bass. My Reference has since been moved to Dave's split Cornwall with his Eplitrac horn and Contrac tweeter and Al's wonderful networks and the Fast lane yield. Between those Id have a hard time picking for best sound... each different, but each its own reference level. Now his 2way Cornscala exceeds my original reference. Simply its all the good and none of the bad. The highs are clearer on his 3way... but by a fraction. I can run the 3 way as a 2way with a switch Al documents and Dave included and I do like the 2way better then the 3 way run as a 2 way. Probably a preference to the B&C driver over the fatal... but who knows. The 2way is just right and although Id miss my reference speakers, I can live with the 2way much much easier. Size and form seems to matter too in speakers. The smaller size of the cornwall cab is easier to live with than my splits that are 2ft deep. I was prepared to build these before Dave offered to sell his prototype and Im glad I did. A very easy speaker to enjoy!

I think if you ask Dave The Elip400 is ok in a Cornwall cab. If you want splits thats a positive route. The single cabs simplicity has me charmed right now.

Having heard both, Id prefer the 4 10s, but very happy to live with the simpler singe 15. The Cornwall/Cornscala (Single cab) is really my fav at the moment. I do with I had the 4 10s but I know Im not missing much but SPL. I believe they are tuned very similarly... IE 42hz - 46hz. Chose either and you will be very happy.

Each woofer choice/combo requires changes to cab dimensions to make work... Not a easy change. The 2 that have been done in a single cab are the single 15" with bobs woofer or the 15c and Dave's with 4 10s.

They went to my home. I have a large 20x10 room. They are paired with a DIY pas3 and a solid state chip amp of 50watts. Everyone who has heard them as said just how nice they are. What I love is that they blend into the room better than anyother speaker I've had in it. Sonics are right and WAF is the highest I've had. Big thank to Dave. I've asked for 2 motor boards for his horn and a 15c.... A very simple winning combo. 1 final note.... Yup I now have 3 of Dave's speakers. All amazingly true and musical.

The Cornscala are mine. I’ve used the 15C with great results... The massive magnet really adds to the bass slam IMHO. The Cornwall cabinet has much more WAF than my big Cornscala’s did. Ive owned a similar setup with the HF200 and Eliptrac and loved it… I’m sure the B&C won’t disappoint. If Dave has some measurements maybe he can put up. I will say, it’s nice to know it will sound and measure great.I pick these bad boys up this sat night... can’t wait to hear.

The K510 or Eliptrac or M2380 are my thoughts. Horns seem straight forward... how about cabs?No corners available and no room for an additional sub. Really want a Cornwall style cab for 2 15" woofers :-).

Given that there is a abundance of smaller horns (Shallower than a K400), I wonder are there any DBB plans which make use of these smaller horns? I might be selling my over sized Split Cornscala's I built to fund a DBB project. That said, I now realize that depth is the limiting factor in my home. 24"-26 wide... no prob. 36"-48" tall no prob... More that 18" deep... problem!. I did some searching and found a few examples of the Corner DBB, but would like to see something more like the cab Dave Harris built with the 4 10" woofers... Pretty shallow, but tall to make up with volume. So, anyone have some plans hiding out? Thanx, Justin
