    Bi-Amp?

I know there has been a lot of discussion on the forums about bi-amping and if it makes a difference in the sound quality or not. My new receiver has the ability to bi-amp the front main speakers using the amps from the rear speakers and the main speakers. My receiver is 95 watts per channel, would there be any improvement in the sound if I bi-amp my RF-62s?
  2. I have been playing around with it for a little bit and it seems to sound better to crossover at 80Hz and to let the sub do more work. I am not completely sure yet, though.
  3. My new Yamaha RX-V765 was finally delivered! Now I am finally trying to go through some of the settings on it. I have never had a receiver before that let me change the crossover. What should I set the crossover to? What would work best with my RF-62s, RC-62, RS-42s, and Sub-12? I was thinking either 60Hz or 80Hz? (I currently have all of my speakers set to "small")
  4. When setting up a speaker system, you want the three front speakers to be timbre matched. The RC-52 is NOT timbre matched with the F-1s. The best match for the F-1s would be the C-1. They would sound much better together.
  5. It would actually be more of an impulse buy. I just purchased RS-42 for my surrounds (I couldn't get the RB-61s, they would be to close to the rear seats and they would not sound good.). Unfortunately, I am only 14 and my parents wont let me get the RF-5s.[]
  6. There are a pair of RF-5s on C-list for $400. Is this a no-brainer?
  7. Sorry, I forgot to answer your question. My rear seats are about the same distance as yours to my rear wall. Below is a behind the seat shot. It is my understanding that the RS type (or even bipole/dipole) speaker) help disperse the sound so that it doesn't "sound" like it is coming from one direct source (ex. direct reflecting speakers). I just know that mine are way too high to benefit from them and they are not angled down enough, even for the front seats. I think I am going to go with some RS-42s instead of RB-61s even though I listen to mostly music. Because my seats are so far back, I don't think I would benefit with the RB-61s anyway...
  8. Oh I will...both here and in my build thread. I have a friend in Alabama that is good at welding and almost any kind of carpentry work. He drew up an autocad sketch of his proposed mount. Was basically a square wall plate that screwed into the wall with a square pole that extended out (over my curtain) and down low enough for the RS to mount to. In the image below, there is a double sliding glass door behind the curtain on the left. I'll have to mount the metal plate above the curtain rod and come out over (or behind) the curtain several feet. That is REALLY cool. I can't wait to see what it will look like when it is finished! When are you planning on doing all of it?
  9. Do they sound okay when using them for music?
  10. That will be pretty interesting to see, make sure to post some pics when you do it!I have the same issue with my rear seats being close to the back wall. If my rear seats are only about one foot away form the back wall, would you recommend getting something from the RS series rather than a bookshelf because they are so close?
  11. Youthman, How do you like having bookshelf speakers as your surrounds rather than something from the RS series?
  12. Thanks for all of the help so far everyone! I guess what I am asking is: 1. Will the RS-42s sound bad with music compared the the RB-61s? 2. Will the RB-61s fill my room with sound like the RS-42s will?
  13. I have RF-62 mains, an RC-62, and a sub-12. You think I should get the RB-61s even though they will be less than a foot behind the seating area?
  14. I have my three front speakers and a sub. Now I am planning on purchasing my two rear/surround speakers. I am either going to get a Pair of RS-42s or a pair of RB-61s. I have had my mind set on the RS-42s. I found the perfect place to hang them and I had everything ready for them. I was doing some reading I a noticed that usually you are better off with bookshelf speakers in the rear if you are doing more multi channel music listening? I listen to a lot more music than I watch movies. Would I really benefit more with the RB-61s? If so, will these still sound good in movies too? I don't really have a very good place to put the RB-61s, but if it will really make a big difference with music, I will figure something out. One bad thing is that they would have to be VERY close behind the seating area, maybe one foot at max. I was siding towards the RS-42s at first because I want a nice, full sound in my room. Will the RB-61s fill my room just as well?
  15. Thanks for all of the information everyone! Unfortunately, i do not have enough space, or the extra money to buy stands for the RS-42s. I went to ace hardware and picked up some drywall anchors (10 pack for about $10). They say they can hold up to 90 pounds. I only need them to hold 10 pounds so i figure they should be okay. I am going to try them out and see how they are. If they seem solid, i'll keep them. If they seem a little unstable, there is no way I am taking the chance! If they don't work, I will try out some of your guy's other ideas! Also, I don't need to worry about WAF, I am only 14! []
  16. I am going to get a pair of RS-42s within the next week or so. I am planning on hanging them on the walls. Unfortunately, in the place that I want to hang them, there is no stud. If I were to hang them anywhere else, it would make them not sound as good. How should I go about hanging these 10 pound speakers on the drywall?
  17. For the Sub-12 for Christmas! If only my RX-V765 came in so I could try out the Sub-12![H]

    Fixed!

I originally ordered the RX-V663 form electronics expo but they said they were out of stock. They asked me if I wanted to "upgrade" to the RX-V665 and I said yes. After doing some research, I found out that the amp in the RX-V665 is not nearly as good as the one in the RX-V663. I called them and told them that changing my order to the RX-V665 is not an upgrade at all, so they ended up switching it the the RX-V765 for no extra cost![]
  21. I agree with getting the C-3. You will here a big difference. You should be fine with your receiver. If you like it, then there is no reason to change. Don't get caught up in the watt game. Klipsch speakers are very efficient and they don't need a lot of power to make them sing.
  22. I agree, I was kinda waiting to hear something.

    Fixed!

Last night I ordered a Yamaha RX-V663. This morning I got an e-mail saying that it was out of stock and they said they can do a complementary upgrade to an RX-V665. I know that the newer amp in the RX-V665 is not as good, nor as powerful as the one in the RX-V663. It looks like the RX-V665 is 20Hz - 1kHz and the RX-V663 is 20 Hz to 20 kHz. If I get a separate amp that is 20 Hz to 20 kHz and hook it up via pre-outs, will it make the signal 20 Hz to 20 kHz?
