    Which Sub?

www.x10.com I have all my main rooms on x10 switchs. Makes turning off lights when I go to bed a breeze, its all done from my bed side! With out rewiring the house!
  2. Hey guys, what does LOL, IMO, IMHO and some of the other jargon used here mean?
  3. Does the Outlaw 1050 come close to sounding like the 750? I realize one is an amp and one is a receiver, but does the quality sound of the Outlaw amp carry over to the Outlaw receivers? Hey Ears, why do you not like the Denons? I am considering the 3802 for my system, but if the 1050 is comparable, for less than half the price I am in for some reconsideration. The Outlaw 1050 only has 6 @ 65 compared to the Denon 3802's 7 @ 110, but running RF3's, RC3, RS3's and one of the SVS subs do I need the extra power from the Denon? MattG
  4. According to Crutchfield the five conections are; bare wire, pin connectors, spade-connector, banana-plug, and double-banana plug. Not quite sure what double-banana plugs are though.
  5. Thanks Gil. I have not yet purchased a receiver, and in fact, probably won't for months if not a year or two, just doing my homework. I don't think it is wise to spend $3000-4000 on an upper end receiver and speakers with out having heard them and understand all of its functions and ratings. I am trying to find out the differences between the Onkyo TX-DS898 and the Denon 3802. This THD was one of the diffences, but if that is no big deal then the choice becomes harder because the rest of the main functions are close. One of these days I will have to get out there and listen to these two units side by side. The amount of info posted on this sight is wonderful! Keep it coming guys!
  6. When a spec sheet on an A/V Reciever gives a power rating such as "110 watts x 7 into 8 ohms at 0.08% THD" what does the "0.08% THD" mean? How much difference does a 0.03% change make? This message has been edited by MattG on 08-29-2001 at 05:06 PM
  7. Hey Guys, Thanks for the info. I had no idea that Walmart sold Denons and my latest Crutchfeild does not contain Denons either (that is where I got my Onkyo info). I will have to look into the Marantz 7200. Again, thanks.
  8. Hey Soundog, How do you like your RS-3's. I am considering using the RF-3, RS-3, RC-3, and SVS sub. I appreciate your input above. I do want to enhance my VHS, but I am still wanting to know if anyone has experience with Onkyo? They also have models with Pro Logic II, but those models do not have 6.1. I have read many posts about the superiority of Denon, which I am leaning toward, but I still have this "What about Onkyo?" lingering in my mind. 9. I have been researching receivers and I am in the $1000 range (give or take $200) and I have found three choices I am looking at; Denon 2802, Denon 3802, Onkyo TX-DS787. I would like to say (after reading other posts) that I DO plan on auditioning my receiver but because I live a couple of hours from the nearest dealer, and my wife does not like to hang out in electronic stores all day on our trips out of town, I was hoping to have some of the valueable input you guys have to offer. Now, time to weigh them out. First off, only one is THX certified (THX Select), the Onkyo TX-DS696. Should this certification hold any weight in my decision? Second, the Onkyo receiver has 6.1 ouput, but so does the $200 less Denon 2802. The 3802 has 7.1, but is that worth $400 over the 2802? Third, the Onkyo does not have Pro Logic II, while the Denons do. I guess what I really want to know is if Denon is a better quality receiver than Onkyo? And is the THX certification worth giving up the Pro Logic II? (I have a lot of VHS tapes).
  10. I have noticed that there are many different things written under everybody what do they mean? Does it have to do with the amount of posts or the quality of info relayed? If it is the latter I'd like to be a "FREAK" when I grow up!
  11. The nearest dealer is 90+ miles away. I do want to audition the speakers but I have been trying to narrow the VERY broad choices down to a couple of brands and styles. This process also includes price range. I have to admit that I had never heard of nor read about Klipsch untill my wife's sister bought the v2-400's and asked me to hook them up. My life will forever be changed!! Hey okinawamike, those are the best prices I have seen on Klipsch speakers. In fact its the only place below MSRP I have been to. I thought I had found the deal of the century but then I realized everything was broken down into individual speaker prices not in pairs. It will still be awile before I can afford my new HT but thanks for the info. I am leaning toward the Reference Series, would anybody like to convince me otherwise? Say, to the Legend Series or Synergy Series.
  12. I am inexperienced when it comes to actual ownership and auditioning of high quality equipment (especially compared to the great posters around here) but in my research I found that Crutchfield has some good info in their "Home Theater Installation Guide". It can be found for download here http://www.crutchfield.com/download/S-FpOwV4Yuafk/HTIG.html
  13. Is a Denon 5800 capable of this dual surround A & B delay stuff being discussed in relation to the 4800?
  14. Where does a person get a look at the INTEGRA 7.1 specs?
  15. I have been doing my homework and have been eyeing Klipsch speakers. I have heard the ProMedia v.2-400 and I was impressed. The only info I have is what is found here at this web site. I am considering a serious upgrade to my home theater system. Where is the best place to get good deals on Klipsch speakers? Do all authorized dealers sell at MSRP? I currently have ancient Pioneer CS-822 boxes with Radio Shack replacement woofers, using cheap Sony center and surrounds, powered by a Optimus STAV-3570 (only ProLogic) No Sub. As you can tell I am in need of an upgrade!!!!!
