  1. Hey everybody! First apologies for bringing up an old post but I have an almost exactly same scenario and did not want to get flamed with "use the search feature n00b". So hear it is Craigslist find for $200 bucks (in weed). A pair of Klipsch RF-82 floor standing speakers, Klipsch center channel (unsure model number), a RW12d and onkyo tx sr805. Pretty sweet deal. Originally I thought it was just the pair of speakers to match up a Pioneer elite from the early 90's. Oh well! So I got it all setup and of course the RW12d did not turn on. Have not tried the fuse but my experience with Klipsch is awesome speakers, not awesome amps. It's like they don't know how to hire amp engineers or they just relish in the fact that they can design a shitty under-powered amp that you have to send in and have repaired for 200 bucks every 6 months. My promedia 4.1's are still sitting there gathering dust, amp blown. It is on the to do list and will be getting sent off soon since I found a repair service on ebay. It looks like I will add the 300s to the list. Too bad they don't make something like that for the promedia. There are a lot out there sitting that people do not want to get rid of and want working. Thanks for the info on the 300s and the other repair service.
  2. Not bad for a hack. Chopped up code of another. Never will forget my first experience with an mp3 and then the 4 days of downloading 4 songs on a dial up modem and another 2 before figuring out how to play them, of course widows 3.1 media player couldnt open it. Then the 2 day downloading winamp pre1.0. "Wow," I thought. "I can fit 50 songs on this hard drive that's awesome!" It was a definitive impact on our history, on our technology and was a deep impact on modern life allowing access to diverse music genre's quickly and easily. Yeah that sound quality is missing and is noticeable especially with high end audio equipment. I started to rip at higher bit rates but makes up for only 10-15% of my collection and thats not included the various hard disk failures. A majority if not all mainstream music is passed through digital filters, auto-tune and who knows what else is decreasing in frequency range anyway. Which in turn reducing the frequency range humans pick up. Is it because of mp3's, maybe a driver involved but not the only. It will be a long time before mp3's will go the way of the Dodo.
  3. Just got my 4.1's delivered today, bought used on ebay. Im stoked because I'm having a pre t-day party. [<)]The unit was well packaged and in good physical condition. Even has monster spkr cable [Y]. Got the front channel plugged in and works great, rear channel not so great .With both plugged in their is no sound or static, but when turning surround dial, speakers make bad popping sound. Switched the front lines to the rear and vice versa. The "rear spkrs" worked fine in the front channels. All 4 spkrs and sub work, rear channel not work. A little bit of thinking makes me wanna poke my finger at the rear channel board. Any home fix-its for this? I am pretty sure it could not have been damaged in shipping; extreme bubble wrap, oversized box stuffed with peanuts. When plugging control wires into computer I was unsure about the tanish/purple plug, rear channel or sub? Maybe I put in wrong one and fried channel? Any help much appreciated before I contact seller. --Raphen
