  3. Born and raised in Pine Bluff, Ar don't hold that against me. It just makes tougher than most. Could be moving to Little Rock in a few years. Thanks philly for this post I always wanted to do this just never did.
  4. Having 5 channels is a great option for Bi amping if someone is thinking about trying that. Using channels 1 and 2 for a front and 4 and 5 for a front. That would leave channel 3 for a center. I used it this way for a while. Also this was the amp that started my journey down the road of what the real difference it is to have an amp as apposed to running just an AVR. The 5 channels offers a lot of flexibility no matter your application.
  5. Let me explain my post. I have made my mind up on using equipment with a low visual profile. Or it's presence is made by the sound it produces not the lights on the front. This is one reason my Mcintosh has been moved to my workout room. I love the sound but it was always a focal point when it was on. Acurus and others just take care of business. The sound is why people look to see what you are using not the lights distracting them.
  6. After Turkey day Bump. For a great amp whose name plate should probably read Caterpillar. I love the heavy duty construction of these. Everything you need and nothing you don't.

  10. LOL funny Youth I don't think he is in the market right now.But you never know.
  11. Guys this is an opportunity to have real power with minimal space. I am selling my NAD 925 THX. This amp is conservatively rated at 125x5. NAD mates well with all Klipsch speakers my experience is with the reference line with this amp. RB5's RF7's and RC7. I like the way the NAD will smooth out high frequency signals that some people say are a problem with the classic RF line. Response is fast smooth and plenty of power. As with the B&K this is only begin sold so continue the hobby being the short term goal is to have all the same brand in my living room. My wife calls is symmetry or something like that. As always I will be happy to answer any questions regarding the amp. I am asking $575.00 this includes the Paypal fees and shipping in the Conti US. I am going to list some info about the THX certification. Also pictures will be added as soon as possible, it currently being used to watch Superman for visitors here during Thanksgiving. THX info: The THX testing process usually begins early in product development. Manufacturers ship samples to the THX Testing Lab in Northern California where a team of expert technicians carefully analyzes each sample and produces reports on their findings. Big reports! They cover hundreds of data points and virtually every aspect of the product’s operational performance. These findings are then sent to the manufacturer with suggestions for fixing any problems that could prevent certification. In many cases, THX requires the manufacturer to adjust the product’s design or firmware and integrate THX playback features to improve performance and meet the THX spec. Further testing, modifications, tweaks and upgrades are done, and the manufacturer sends back the product for final evaluation. THX certification is either pass or fail. And product pricing is never a driving factor. If a product meets the THX testing standards, then certification is granted. With all of this testing from THX, the consumer is assured that the TV, receiver or speaker system they are purchasing meets the highest standards for quality and compatibility right out of the box. . 12. Man that is funny...My wife gets mad at me for doing the same thing.
  13. I had this one. came out about 2 years ago. It was advertised as being the thinest out there. It had a internal battery like an iphone.
  14. Here are a couple of screen shots showing the Tube option. And this most be stated the tube option can only be used with headphones but it sure sounds great.
  15. I got the note 3 last month when it came out, can't be happier with it!!!! I didn't get the watch in our control room we work 12 hour shifts and the battery on the smart watch will only last 8 hours. Plus other than the I have it and you don't really didn't see how it would really benefit me. But back to the phone. My old phone was a motorola Rzr battery life was crap camera crap. The intergrated battery made sure you couldn't replace it. So the note is great phone and the I love the audio player for the sound quality and eq options, to my surprise there is a option to turn on a tube sound effect. And when ther batter gets weak I can just buy a new and install it. On average I get about 2 days of use between charges. Hope this helps and if you have a question before you buy just ask I am still learning about the phone.
  16. You may be correct in your assertions Dave, although I personally enjoy the "old" ways. There's an interesting parallel to ham radio in the US (and possibly in other countries as well) as stated in this excellent article: http://www.amateurradio.com/ham-radios-lost-future/ If I'm not mistaken, the median age of ham operators in the US is now the late 60s. Occasionally, when I tune around the ham bands listening to conversations, I hear guys who are in their 80s and have been licensed since they were kids. I can't recall the last time I heard a young person on the bands although they presumably are there in small numbers (thanks to school teachers who convinced their administrators to allow the teaching of after school classes.) The ham organizations ask the same questions that we do in regard to how to get young folks interested. Does anyone have any stats or info about interest in high end audio in the EU or Asia? Maynard You guys are right this is a dying art that should be preserved IMO. I got my lic to help in the event of an emergency including the loss of normal communication avenues.
  17. I am 32 years old My call sign is KF5AEB. I was 28 I think when I got my amature lic.

    PS4?

Has anyone bought a PS 4 yet? I have been doing a little reading and I keep coming back to the PS4 will not play video files from the USB ports on the system. I use my PS3 for HT reasons almost all the time and was looking forward to the new PS4 but if this is true I will have explore other options.
  19. Thanks Bill. Hope all the forum members have a safe and Happy Thankgiving.
  20. Anyone looking to purchase a Marantz AVR or Pre pro I would say Go for it. But they offer an option to buy a RX101 this is a module connected to the Xport on the back of the unit to stream Bluetooth. This in general is a great idea to have this option and in coming years I am sure this will be integrated in the unit if it’s not already. But if you have made it this far into this post I strongly hesitate anyone that thinks about buying this option. I have connection problems with mine all the time. Not with the Bluetooth but the actual connection from the module to the prepro. I have always felt there is a design flaw with S video cables and how the pins connect to whatever unit it is. But Maranatz and all its wisdom decided this was the best option for the Xport to the Rx101 Bluetooth module. So buyer beware on this. I am going to look for other more reliable options for streaming Bluetooth audio. If you have any experience with any good or bad please add. This is not a rant just I wanted to make people aware of the problems I have had with mine and for 100 bucks extra for the module I kinda expected it to work. If the connection clipped into the socket and was held in place by a pressure clip that would solve my problems
