  1. that was really interesting. But he says that the sound from 3d movies is lousy....i dont think he has klipsch[] Also he is smoking his pipe around all his high end recording equipment[]
  2. I would never recommend runing two sets of speaker wire without removing the jumper plate between terminals.
  3. Bi-amping with a receiver is called bi-wiring. Like dennie said it is really just running twice as much speaker wire to your speakers. Some people have said they notice a difference but the majority of people say that they not only do not hear a difference but that it technically is not providing any more power to your speaker then just running one run of speaker wire and using the speakers jumpers. Biamping would be using two seperate amplifiers or two seperate channels on say an amp like an emotiva xpa-5. If you want better results get a bigger receiver or amplifier. FYI your 608 does not have pre-outs so you cannot add a seperate ampifier to this receiver. To put you at piece of mind the 608 should be pushing those 62s just fine and bi-wiring does increase the cool factor!
  4. I was dissapointed with the bass response from the rb-61s. I used them for surrounds for a while and for that they did great. I only tested them without a subwoofer a couple of times. For computer speakers they would work good. Get a nice sub with them and i think you will be extremely satisfied. If you do not plan to upgrade then yeah a 2.1 receiver (these can be had for cheaper than a 7.1 receiver) will work great.
  5. Was that movie watchable? I like to keep up with M Nights movies but i heard that one was bad for even him
  6. Yeah bill you are wrong there is a right answer[] Why wont this thread die? Oh wait i am not helping.
  7. I used to have velodyne dps 10 that gave me some port noise when i pushed it. Yeah it is a sign that another sub or a bigger one would be in order. Never had that problem with my paradigm dsp-3400 but then again the ports are so big i do not see how it could happen
  8. My advice is to go one way or the other. I think you would be more impressed with the k-horns but then i would suggest getting a new center and rethinking surrounds (go to a 5.1 or 7.1 setup). I think one issue is that you probably love the features and expansiveness of your receiver and would hate to simplify down to where you were not using some its its most renown features. You may also have to rethink your screen if you have to get a new center. Really a toss up but if you have a big room and perfect corners the khorn is supposed to be pretty incredible. Also i would definantly want to throw the most power i could into the k-horns, it would be before reference volumes that you would notice the improvement.
  9. Klipsch sells their products through wholesalers therefore i imagine customer service is exactly that and less of technical questions.
  10. now you are throwing robert under the train lol. not good
  11. Yes i remember some scenes in the latest resident evil where the audio blew me away!
  12. Guys we are missing the biggest difference. The cones would be different colors! The new ones are darker
  13. I was joking about the rf-73 but yeah a quad 5.25'' seem more feesable. If klipsch did it right they could come back with a 3 way reference speaker that would not eat into their palladium sales. Heck maybe they could make one that totally blows aways anything in the same price category (like they dont already) where they were selling so many that they would not mind it eating into palladium sales.
  14. My guess is the next flagship are going to be 3 way speakers much like the klf series. They could always make a rf-73 though, which would be the rf-7ii + another 10'' woofer.
  15. Be careful there...unless you are the engineer that designed the new RC-64ii. We do not know who he talked to at Klipsch. If he was speaking to the lead engineer and he said they were voice matched, then they are. Not trying to start a debate here...just saying. Also, "Working Fine" for your RF-82 and RC-64ii and "Timbre Matched" for RC-64ii and RF-83 are two totally different things. It looks like someone is looking for a reason to upgrade to the rf-7iis[]. I am just talking from experience, when i called and talked to some about the matching question i did not talk to the head engineer or an engineer and all for that matter. Also if the original rc-64 is an exact match for the rf-83s it should be noted how different the new rc-64ii is from the last model. Bigger tweeter, whole different crossover and different dimensions (i doubt that would matter). They did use different magnets though and that is why the newer rc-64ii is like 10 lbs lighter.
  16. I called klipsch before and they said that my rc-64ii was going to work fine with my rf-82 that i had at the time. I think it is short sighted of them to tell you that they are Timbre matched because they are not.
  17. Yeah if you can return the rc-64ii and get the rf-83s and then get a rc-64 down the road that is a good option. I would say the 7s best the 83s by a fraction so you will not be losing all that much in sound quality and you will be saving alot of cash. I would be tempted to match the rc-64ii with the 83s but in the end it is not perfect timbre which may or may not be a deal breaker for you.
  18. My original rc-52 did not even have holes for the bolt that left me confused[:S]
  19. I had an older pioner elite receiver that sounded warm to me, should not have sold that thing! My experience with onkyo is that they have a neutral sound. I also had an older denon which i thought was quite bright although i have heard people refer to their denons as warm. I think both the umc-1 and the marantz 7005 are find choices. Of course i would prefer the marantz but does the price justify it?
  20. All i will say is the rc-64ii is not a timbre match to the rf-83s
  21. It is true i would say your room is about the perfect size. Would be fun to try to fill a room with these things instead of turning them up and then right back down because they are too loud. I did move my chair to the far end of the wall and that improved sound quite a lot. I find i am enjoying my subwoofer more than ever before for some reason. I watched tron legacy tonight and there is something special about this movie. Not perfect by any means but for any home theater enthusiast there is something very special here
  22. How do i know these things browning? I am finding out two things about my system after finally getting some chances to jam some music. #1 my room is way too small to take advantage of the rf-7ii. Flagship need a room the size of youthmans. #2 My sub can really dig low, deep and consistant. I am only listening to streaming pandora but some moment really surpise me with how clear this guys can sound.
  23. I had a chance to purchase my choice from 3 pair one of which were slant corner heresys when i purchased my La Scalas for $250 (the heresies not the Scalas). Condition was 7/10 i believe on the wood cabs
  24. Not sure, they ship it with the front 2 feet attached and the back two you attach yourself. Not sure if the front ones unscrew or not. Hmm i think browning may not even be using feet so maybe he can chime in
