  1. I am not sure yet, maybe some surrounds maybe an amp. If you can get that outlaw for $300 shipped than i think it is a smart move. Thats alot of power and alot of channels!
  2. is a forum member picking it up and shipping it to you or a friend or relative? I may have something in the works myself right now[6]
  3. Navadog what area are you specifically in in the SF craigslist? I can help you find your best option there. And yes 100ft of 12guage (depending on if you want to wire your surrounds with it, you may need 150-300). Atleast wire your fronts and center with the 12 guage.
  4. $300 used vs $525 new for emotiva xpa-3
  5. Yes be patient. I would atleast make an offer on the denon receiver though if it is in your area, that denon will give you some great sound. At $185 that denon would be a good grab. I got my receiver which is comparable to that denon (The denon is a little better) for $165 but i think i got lucky. If you watch alot of blu-rays get a newer receiver that will work with hd codecs. If you mainly watch tv and listen to music an older receiver will suit you just. You can still get hd blu-ray audio through an older receiver through analog outputs on the blu-ray playerbut that is confusing and takes alot of cords. Do yourself a favor and order some 12 guage speaker wire and banana plugs from www.monoprice.com too (please dont tell me you bought some from bb). Keep us updated and post pics when it comes togethor.
  6. Hey 2002 was a great year for receivers[] That dtr7.1 is junk though, i mean 6.1 cmon. Integra is a great brand though i would rather have one than onkyo
  7. Integra are great. They are made by onkyo. Jrod can attest to their quality. Is this the one in san jose south? Okay well you can do alot better that the dtr 7.1 especially at his asking price (anything over $175). Upon a quick search south bay SF area (is this the one you are working with or somewhere else?) I found this denon avr3803 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ele/1641802048.htmThe guy is asking $250. I would offer $200. Make sure it is clean and comes with remote, for that amount of money you dont have to settle for less.
  8. I originally wanted the denon, love the looks of them (probably what is least important in a receiver[]) and heard they sound great. Also i believe you can get the onkyo 607 for like $375 or something right now at www.newegg.com with coupon code ONKYO31225 . Good deal and price effective. Downside is the receiver does not have preouts if you were ever to add an amplifier. Still my vote goes to stalking a midend pioneer (if budget allows) and pouncing when the price is right.
  9. Onkyo and Integra are great receivers but i have never wanted to invest too much in them just because they run hot (they dont have a high fault rate though). My vote goes to pioneer elite brand just because my biased guess is they reproduce the best music. There are deals to be had out there especially if buying used. Of course there are tons of great deals on new equipment if you know where to look. www.slickdeals.com usually has a receiver deal on the front page every few days
  10. I hope this does not mean analog audio ports too[]. Adios to component
  11. Yeah i like to hit the garage sales when it gets warmer. Will pick one up when the right one comes along. Thanks for the info guys. Post some of your finds!
  12. I received an email from the guy saying that he had 10 people who wanted it and to call him fast and gave his number. My parents were here with my having dinner and kept telling me how turntables are such a hastle and that i should not mess with one. By the time i got his response about the stylus needle cartridge he said that it was sold. I may just hold off on the table for now. BTW my receiver does have a phono input.
  13. I can get the pl-530 for $50 , what should i ask about? How the belt is what stylus needle and cartridge it has?
  14. i doubt this guy is going to get back to me. I am pissed right now, i missed out on a pair of magnepan magnaplaners svg today for $50 and i emailed the guy like right when he posted and he responds 2 hours later saying they are sold. GRRR[:@]
  15. Youthman happy 4K!! I hear you get a Placard at 10 thousand!!
  16. ALERT! Any one in the miama/ south florida area may be tempted at this vsx-55txi for sale http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/ele/1643429356.html Could probably get him down to $150 since it does not include the remote. Too bad i am sure the remotes for these are quite expensive but i believe most of the functions can be accessed from the front panel
  17. Yeah, i dont expect you to buy my bd-player but seriously you have got to go lossless. Okay you got the 50'' tv, the speakers and now (hopefully) the receiver. Do you not want immersive sound from movies? I wish i would have had the chance to hook this up and try out lossless before i ship it out, too bad i sold my 52'' sony lcd (what was i thinking?!). Hoping that in 8 months i am going to be in the situation to buy a 55'' LED and maybe an oppo 83??
  18. Jeez how much for a cheap cartridge lol I cant spend that much!!!
  19. All way out of my price range lol. There is a pl-530 that i really like the looks of in my area but the owner has yet to get back with me. Again how much should i be expecting in cartridges and needle?
  20. Yeah took me a bit to get what wuzzer was saying then i laughed. You said " i wont be misssing much" he said "no, only an audio signal with 6 times the encoded bitrate" []. You have blu-rays that are not encoded in hd sound? I thought like 95% were encoded in hd sound. True you will see no benefit from tv stations and if you do not rent blu-rays or own many than the benefit might not be crucial. Like most of the people on this forum though with nice speakers and a nice receiver getting a signal with 6 times the bitrate is a worthy upgrade. When do you get your receiver? We are waiting anxiously for pics
  21. How much do new cartriges cost and or a needle if i need one? I really want a pioneer turntable to match my other 2 pioneer components, i also want it to be a woode frame. I guess i am picky but want to get a nice table before i fill up on cheap records.
  22. Yes it is a good thread. I have turned back to wanting a turntable now. Looking to spend $30-$50, quite a few people sell them used so hopefully i find something good. Today i saw someone selling 300 records, 60 cds and 2 record players for $100. Too bad the record players looked like crap.
