  1. Sounds like you're an awesome dad. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) at how many parents just don't care. I second that - there is also some sexual scenes in there not suitable for young children. Thing is, from a purely visual standpoint, you'll never be able to replicate the experience at home. Too bad you can't get a babysitter for the night and go see it, I honestly think you'd really appreciate it and love it. But oh well there ARE more important things in life [Y]
  2. Wicked thanks for confirming. I only had the receiver a few days before I was back in the hospital so I really haven't had time to study the booklet and all the ins and outs of the unit. So that's good to know. As I said, it's not something I'm planning on doing right away or maybe anytime soon but it's good to know that I can upgrade the quality of my speakers - or should I say maximize the abilities of my speakers - and spend a lot less doing so than I had originally thought by buying an amp and not an entire new set of speakers. Thanks when the time comes to buy one you know I'm gonna be asking a ton of questions []
  3. Dude you need to go see it in the theater in 3D that's the biggest "claim to fame" about this movie is the 3D animation. I know your home theater is amazing but you can't replicate the 3D effect on your projection screen. Seriously, this is the one movie I'd say drop the money on, take the family and go see it while you can. It's AMAZING!
  4. Booty...so it's a moot point then.
  5. It says in the specs " the RX-V665 also has a set of preamp outputs for multi-zone operation." Is that what you are referring to? It also says that "you can still run an additional 2-channel system in another room by using the Zone 2 preamp outputs. However, you will have to add a secondary amplifier to power the speakers in Zone 2."
  6. The PLX's are incredibly smooth powerful amps that work great for full range speakers. The 2 downsides are the fans, which can be easily changed out and the price. QSC also makes a GX series. I've got a GX3 running a pair of KP250's (Professional Heresy's) and I really like the sound of the combo, The're much more affordable than the PLX's. Interesting, I did a quick price check and on amazon.com you can get that gx3 for $277.99. And you think that would be sufficient to manage my mains (125 watts)? I have to assume so since you are using it to run your Professional Hersey's and those have got to be better than my measely RB-35s. Like I said this is for research purposes so I know what to do down the road and instead of dropping $800 on new mains I thought why not look into maximizing what I already have? Does that make sense? I would presume this would make my mains sound much crisper for lack of a better term and allow me to use them at their full potential and then my Yamaha could deal with the CC, surrounds and sub? Thanks guys you are so helpful! Mark
  7. Don't worry, that won't happen.... James Also, Welcome to the forum..... Love your sig man, Outkast is the bomb-diggity. Been into them since almost the day Southerplayalistikcadallacfunkymusik came way back in like what, '94 or so? Been so long lol [Y]
  8. So this would make my sub THUMP but you dont obviously like it for handling my mains? Do you have a specific QSC amp that you are referring to? I am gonna do some searching but you sound like you know what you're talking about so you could probably cut my research time in half if you have a specific amp you are referring to. Now remember, my mains only handle 125 watts so it's not like I'd need to go spending an arm and a leg here down the road (at least I don't think I'd have to). Just something that would make my mains "shine" and bring out the best in them is what I'd eventually want to buy I think. Might end up being a better investment than dropping a ton of money on the mains is kind of my theory I guess. If I'm satisfied now with a receiver that's putting out 90watts per channel..and from what I've heard its probably not even 90 watts....well you get where I'm going with this? Thanks!!!! Edit: I mean I'm looking at the QSC RMX1850HD and it's got 360W per channel @ 8 ohms, 600W/channel @ 4 ohms, 900W/channel @ 2 ohms, 1150W bridged mono @ 8 ohms and 1800W bridged mono @ 4 ohms. Isn't that kind of overkill for what I have? Sorry I am such a noob lol
  9. Personally I love my RW-10d mated with the rest of my system, but my system isn't nearly as high end as others tha also necessitate a bigger and badder sub. But seriously mine is more than ample with the rest of my speakers.
  10. So I'm sorry I'm a noob when it comes to this but I'm always hearing people talking about amps. Would this be something (down the road) that would be a good investment to drive my mains and keep my center, sub and surrounds on the Yamaha? It has 220wattsx2 so it would be able to handle a speaker upgrade as well. Now mind you I don't plan on buying this in the near future but just curious if I am on the right plane of thinking here. Behringer A500 http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-A500-Reference-Studio-Amplifier/dp/B000CZ0RL0 Thanks fellas! Mark
  11. Well the ending certainly left it wide open for a sequal so I'm sure we'll see something along those lines within the next few years. I liked the movie, pretty decent. The fact that it was in South Africa and the issue of apartheid being the underlying theme made it a bit more interesting IMO as well. I wish they would have delved a bit more into why the aliens were there, i.e., why the leaders died off and left the drones behind.
  12. Unfortunately never seen one in person and more importantly neve HEARD one in person that's really what I would love to do, just to see how much better it is than my RC-35. That's what my other audiophile buddy has as well (35), that's why I ended up finding and getting the RC-35 to upgrade from my RC-10 (plus I got it for $100 shipped from Cali, in mint condition I don't know what that dude was smoking but hey I'm not complaining lol then sold my RC-10 on ebay for $175 shipped nothing like upgrading AND making money off it) []
  13. Holy shit you're 13 and you've got that audio setup you lucky SOB [] When I was 13 I just started working and was making about $4.15 an hour (I think that's what min. wage was in 1992). Hope you got what you wanted and it worked out I realize this is an old thread.
  14. I especially like the RC-64 with its 4 woofers just staring at you it looks so "mean" [8o|]
  15. Wow that setup just looks great. I love the reference line without the grills on they look so nice and classy. Too bad I can't do that, I have a Newf that slobbers everywhere and I'm afraid it would end up all over the woofers and dirty them all up so my grills stay on. But great setup!
  16. You got it. If you truly want the RC-64, then save up some cash, continue to keep an eye out on Audiogon, Garage Sale etc and when the right deal comes along, jump on it. Same with the RF-83's or RF-63's. So does that mean you do not want the RF-63 or RF-83's? If you are 100% satisfied, why upgrade? Remember, it's your ears that has to be pleased, not anyone here in the forums. You already have a better system than probably most people you know. Right? In all fairness, I don't think the size of the speaker has to be proportional to the size of your room. Well, let me clarify that statement. If you have a huge room, bookshelf speakers probably will not give you the dynamics and the WOW factor. In a smaller room, bookshelf speakers sound really nice. But bigger speakers can also sound really good in even a smaller room. In the end, it's really up to you what you want and what you feel will truly satisfy you. P.S....I'm getting close. I'm not 100% satisfied but for the time being what I have does its job fine. I do not plan on living in the house I am living in for much longer than 2-3 years so at that point in time I would have a much larger family room and want the RF-83 and RC-64 let's say. If I could get them now for a decent price and it was the right time (like the finances were in order) I certainly don't think I would be making a mistake or making a purchase just to spend money. I would be working towards my end goal. But what I was trying ot say was that if things stayed the same for awhile it wouldn't be a big deal at all, I have a pretty good system (and you are righit is better than all but one of my friends that has a higher end Klipsch setup he's who got me into Klipsch) and the wow factor is pretty cool. Hope that makes sense. Like if I found the RF-83s for a great price I would probably jump on them, they certainly wouldn't be "bad" in my family room now that's for sure. Just that if I can't and it's not the right time there's no point in thinking I'm lacking, my setup is perfectly acceptable in the room right now. Hope that wasn't too confusing, Mark
  17. And it's very sound advice and I will certainly take it to heart, I have an idea of what i want my end-system to look like - pretty much what you have in your sig to be quite frank. So its a matter of saving up, and trying to find deals on RF-83s and and an RC-64 I guess in the end. Thanks for setting me on the right path it is very much appreciated. I find when I really love things I sometimes get way ahead of myself. I saw the RC-62 and thought I could upgrade for minimal cost but in the end is it worth it if I really want an RC-64? No its not. Plus the truth of the matter is, with the way my family room is set up and its size what I have is PLENTY. So I would just be spending money just to spend money and that's dumb. So thanks, Mark
  18. I don't want to go OT so PM me if you get a chance and let me know what you've done with that badboy, I love modifying cars too (unfortunately I have a V6 6MT Accord right now that is decently modded so its nice from a roll but FWD sucks lol). Anyway love your setup!
  19. I just PM'ed you and didn't see this response. Thanks guys that makes a lot of sense, I think I have a better idea of how I need to deal with this project, i.e., what I should do next. Doo have a question though, would an RC-64 or RC-7 overpower my mains? I have looked at the specs of the RC-64 and that this is RIDICULOUS I would love to have it but I wonder if it would just straight overpower my RB-35s. Anyway, I love this forum you guys/gals (don't know if there are girls on here) are so helpful. It's nice to be on an internet forum like this. Thanks, Mark
  20. Damn TXEvo8 your setup is really nice. Plus I assume you have an Evo 8, that's even better []
  21. I currently am running an RC-35 as my center channel mated with RB-35s as my mains, S-1s as surrounds and a RW-10d sub. Someone is selling a mint RC-62 on this site for $300. I checked e-bay and a used RC-35 just sold for $270 plus shipping. Would it be worth it to upgrade to the RC-62 or are the differences so minute that I should just concentrate on something like an amp to drive my speakers? It would almsot be a wash if I could get $275 for my RC-35 on ebay...shoot that's how I got the RC-35 in the first place, bought it and sold my RC-10 and came out even. From what I've read the RC-62 replaced the RC-35 and the main difference seems to be that the RC-35 can handle 125 watts (500 peak) and the RC-62 can handle 150 watts (500 peak). Considering that I have a Yamaha RX-V665 that is only putting out 90w per channel (if that) is this even worth it or like I said should I concentrate on getting something like an amp? Thanks guys you have always been extremely helpful! Mark
  22. Don't mean to threadjack but I have the same question and I checked the THX website and the position I'm going to put my surround is perfect, the question I have is wehether 6 feet off the ground is too high. If I go lower its gonna be in the way when you walk by the couch that sits near the dining room so I don't have a lot of options. Thanks
  23. Reading these posts about amps really makes me wonder if I need to invest in one. I just got the Yamaha RX-V665 but it sounds like even though its rated at 90x7 I think, it won't actually produce those levels when 7 speakers are connected (though I will only be connecting 5, it still makes me wonder). How much is a decent amp to drive 5 speakers (2 RB-35s, 1 RC-35, 2 S-1s). I can just leave the sub to run off the receiver I guess. This might need to be the next thing I need to save up for, at least that's what I'm thinking. Or does the Yamaha have plenty of power to drive the speakers I currently have especially since its only 5 total? Sorry don't mean to threadjack.
  24. Seriously that is just ridiculous. Thanks for the link, I mean I guess if I buy that I can consolidate down to just the Harmony 670 and get rid of all the other remotes. As it is I use the receiver, DTV and PS3 remote. It's not really a pain at all, but I guess one is better than 3. I'll just have to consider whether its worth it to buy the adapter or just leave it as is and get like $40 for the remote (if that). Thanks again for the link, Mark
