  1. Thanks that's my boy, he's with me almost 24/7 right now so we have quite the bond. Man's best friend lol and thanks for the kind words about the speakers, as someone already said I really love the looks of them with the grill off, the copper color woofers just look really dope to me. I usually leave the grill covers on though, just in case my dog accidentally was running around and face planted into the speaker, I would have to see him bust a woofer open. Still looks great/super clean with the grills on so no big deal. Youthman - yea, it was way too 'boomy' when it deflected off the wall. It also sounded almost muffled to a degree, like it was hitting and then not disappating correctly. Now I have it right behind the entertainment center but it is facing directly out into the room at the same angle as the fronts and centers, so it's all going in the same direction. Sounds much better and cleaner as I said. Thanks for the suggestion I really do appreciate it! Mark
  2. I'm honestly going to sell my Harmony 670. It used to be great, but now with the HDMI receiver I can just use the receiver remote and the DTV remote to control everything. And then of course the PS3 remote. Using the Harmony remote wouldn't get rid of any of the other 3 so I have no use for it anymore. But you are needing to control a lot more functions than I ever need to so maybe its better for you. Sorry I know that wasn't much help
  3. You guys are the best, many many thanks for the detailed instructions! I think my buddy and I can figure this out and get it done so it looks clean.
  4. Great this will give me the opportunity to clean up the back of the entertainment system as well, its a clusterf&&& right now back there lol and I hardly have any wires it's all the powerchords I think lol
  5. The surrounds are going to be mounted approximately 6.5-7 feet up on the wall. Thanks for the instructions on how to get them down into the crawlspace, and if you can help me figure out how to run it up the wall that would be super. Thanks, Mark
  6. Hey Youthman, thanks for the suggestion about the placement of the sub, since I flipped it 180 degrees and have it firing out into the room from behind the entertainment center, it is much "cleaner" for lack of a better term. When it was firing into the wall it almost sounded, well it just didn't sound right it was a bit louder but not nearly as clean sounding. Now it seems perfect. Thanks! Mark
  7. Sorry so 14 guage is fine for both the runs to my surrounds as well as my runs to the main and center channels? That's all I really need to know and I apologize for belaboring the point. I hadn't thought of running it down through the crawl space that certainly would make things a lot nicer looking. We'll see, my buddy has all the tools and knowledge we need to get this done so it'll work itself out for sure. Thanks for all your help Mark
  8. Thanks so much I apprecaite it! I wish I had more space, I would like to push my mains out a bit further from the center channel I think I would get better sound that way but I have no room. I'd also love to get a new entertainment center that would allow me to set up all my stuff in a bit more manageable way, i.e. room so everything doesn't look crunched together. I also need to do some rewiring to clean up everything behind the entertainment system. IT is a mess right now lol
  9. Okay cool good to know that the white wire is better, I placed the purchase last night for 100ft of 14 guage and its shipping out today so I should have it next week, then I can get everything hooked up. I was planningo on buying wire track and running it across the baseboard if that works. Some of it is going to have to go over like the patio door so hopefully the wire track keeps it pretty hidden because the last thing I want to see is wire running all over the room. Once again, I don't know if anyone's answered this and I apologize if I missed it, but would this be good to use for my mains and center channel as well, or would I need like a 12 or 10 guage wire? Thanks! Mark
  10. I actually like the look of the white in-wall wires simply because they should blend in with my white walls. I think I will go ahead and buy 100ft. of 14 guage for $17.88. Also, i hate to belabor this point but would using this wire also be good for my mains and center channel? If it is better, I would go ahead and buy 250ft. for $39.59 and just re-wire my entire system if it helps. Let me know. Thanks, Mark Sure that wire should work fine for your mains. How long are your wire runs? My wire run for the mains are only like 5 feet, same for the center channel. So I'm not even sure I'd need 250 feet to upgrade I can probably get away with 100ft total. Thanks guys for the help! I'll be making this purchase soon, it'll take 3-5 days and then i can get my surrounds hooked up and I'm finally done.

  12. Actually I won't be running wires through the wall most likely try to hide them along the baseboard as I run them. Should I be looking at a different wire? Is the one I linked especially for running through the wall? Sorry I am asking dumb questions I know. Is this what I should be getting: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023902&p_id=2791&seq=1&format=2 The only issue I have with that wire is that its clear, white would blend in so much better. Please let me know so I know what to order. Thanks!
  13. I was actually going to buy 14 guage wire, so that would fit the bill. Just need to make sure I'm interpreting the chart he gave me right so I know I'm using the right guage wire. This is what I plan on buying, and its great that its $17 for 100ft. and $39 for 250ft. much less expensive than 12 guage so I can buy 250ft w/out feeling bad and probably upgrade all my speaker wires. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023902&p_id=2820&seq=1&format=2Would 14 guage also be fine for my mains and center, or do I need to get an even bigger guage for that? If I do then I won't wate my money on 250ft I'll just buy 100ft. for the surrounds and if I need to upgrade to a bigger guage on my mains and center I can do that at a later time. Sorry again for the noob questions just want to make sure I'm making the right purchases here:
  14. Ok but I'm a bit confused looking at the chart. When looking at the specs for the S-1s it says normal impedence is 8ohms. So looking at your chart, if I go to 8ohms, it says I will need 16 guage wire because I'll be running about 50 feet of wire. Am I interpreting this correctly? Thanks and sorry for being such a noob [:$]
  15. Ah a fellow crsx'er, what's up man. I mainly stick to the sports section on that site, and sometimes the lounge (mostly for the dog thread), but that's how I found out about this site, i was asking a lot of electronics questions and they got sick of me and said to find a Klipsch forum lol
  16. Thanks for the kind words. Honestly Klipsch Reference series is pretty hard to find around here, Best Buy used to carry Synergy series and now I think they are carrying Icon Series only (have no experience with the Icon line at all). I got really lucky with the Reference line. First my brother used to work for a very high end electronics company that would do 1 of 2 things - go into your business and set up your entire AV needs or go into your home and do high-end audio/vidoe installations. The lowest line of speakers they carried was the Klipsch Reference line. So I was able to get an RC-10 center channel for $100 and an RW-10d sub for $300. It was like 60% off MSRP. Then I got super lucky, my parents moved to another house and had speakers installed in the walls and ceiling. They had also bought the RB-35s from my brother's company, and they were kind enough to just GIVE them to me when they moved into their new house. Then I found an RC-35 center channel on Craigslist for $100 shipped and the S-1s surrounds for $85 shipped. Couple that with the fact that I sold my RC-10 center channel for $175 shipped, I literally got the upgraded RC-35 center channel and the S-1s for nothing. So for my entire system I have basically spent $450 give or take (not including the TV or the receiver of course). So I got really lucky. The Klipsch speakers hold their value so well, I'll probably hold onto these bookshelves until I can find used 82s floorstanding speakers and sell my RB-35s to offset some of the expense. I have seen 82s go for $550-600 here so I'm patiently waiting for the right time. Always looking to upgrade unfortunately, its a disease lol
  17. Okay went ahead and flipped it around so its still behind the entertainment system but firing directly OUT into the room. No more pointing at the walls. Thanks guys for the suggestions! Mark
  18. Hmm I can set it off to the side of the entertaiment center and have it firing directly at me out into the room, that's pretty much the extent of what I can do at this point in time with the room restrictions in place. You think that's better than having it fire into the wall? Thanks!
  19. Just to verify, 12 or 14 guage from Monoprice is a good deal, 100ft. for $33 shipped can't beat that. Is there any discernable difference between the 12 and 14 guage that I'll be running to my surrounds? Thanks!
  20. Here's mine, still haven't gotten the surrounds up yet but everything else is good to go. As you might be able to tell, my entertainment system is in the corner of my family room. I don't have a lot of space on either side to put my mains so they are pretty close to my center channel. The real question I have is the placement of the subwoofer. Right now I have it behind my entertainment center, facing the wall. I gave it a bit of room to "breathe" for lack of a better term but I have it firing directly into the wall. Is that the proper place to put it or should it go out into the room, firing out into the room? Any help would be super appreciated. Also excuse the mess, I have some cleaning up to do with my entertainment center (get some wires better placed for one). Here are some pictures: And man's best friend "helping" me hook some stuff up:
  21. I think you have to go into WMP 11 and go to the Library tab and allow file sharing, and then it should automatically just show up under the audio and video (if applicable) tab of the PS3. I'll have to re-check tomorrow how I did it but I know you have to go in and actually enable file sharing. Actually try this link first this is what I used to set it up and it is pretty easy to understand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGJmkyFGK3w I can literally stream all 5000 songs I have on my desktop as well as any video files you might have (movies, TV shows, etc..) Let me know if that helps, I can try to help you further if that doesn't work. Oh and about the trade I'm not much into war games at all and I do play Need for Speed every once in awhile plus when I have friends over they like to play it. You should be able to go to a used game store and get it for like $14.99 because there is a newer Need for Speed game out right now so people are selling Underground and as a result its pretty cheap.
  22. Wow that's just messed up Youthman, that they would do that just because people are dumb enough to spend that much on a cable that basically is no better than a $50 one. I guess a sucker is born every minute as they say...but still sad that companies take advantage of those guys/gals
  23. I love my RC-35 but you have to understand I upgraded from an RC-10 so of course the RC-35 is going to sound 100x better. From what I've heard the RC-62 is great, but when I buy a new center channel is probably going to be an RC-64. I've heard nothing but amazing things about that center channel.
  24. Good call on Tversity, that's a great way to run audio and video media if you don't want to use WMP 11. lol I have Need for Speed Underground as my only game and I think I've played it once, i got it for $9.99. I have one controller, f buying another one for $59 what a rip off. I really am not a gamer at all, which speaks volumes about the PS3 and how good it is. And you're right about the firmware update, just does it automatically when you sign in if there's an update, you just can't beat that. And it's cheaper than most of the Blu-Rays out there with the same functionalities. Shoot I even have the 120GB one and I don't think I've even saved anything onto the harddrive, I guess I could download all my music couldn't I?
  25. That's a good idea about felt dots I have a bunch of them thanks! It didn't come with a template for mounting unfortunately so we're gonna have to do it the old fashioned way. Measure twice, mount once, use level lol
