  1. Only a matter of time.... bought there stock in 1991 sold there stock last year. Anyway today's big box stores can not compete with the likes of amazon, just like blockbuster could not compete with netflix. It's a shame because I do go into those stores to get a "In Person" view of whatever electronics item that I'm looking to purchase. However nearly 100% of the time I can find that same electronic device way cheaper online by authorized resellers. Having said that my last TV purchase I showed the store manager the online price that I pulled up on my smartphone....he matched the price.

  2. I dont know anything about emotiva nor do I understand what the real function of the UMC is to me it seems to be a AVR but I'm not sure?

    The UMC-1 is a Pre/Pro (Preamp + Processor). It does not have an internal amp to power your speakers.

    Ok I get that. also I was reading up on your initial thread on the UMC. Wondering did you ever get the thing tweaked for HT like you wanted? I'm new to the HT scene so my learning curve for the UMC would be steep to say the least when that time comes as for right now I only have 2 channel. I'm really at a loss for what to do. There is a decent deal on a Pioneer Sc-35 in the garage sale section but dont know what sacrifices I would be making by going that route over the separates route.

  3. The 30's are capable of 200 watts continuous. You might want to go pre/pro with the Emotiva UMC-1 and the XPA-5.

    My bad I just read up on the UMC-1 and it seems as tho it will fullfill my need for HDMI inputs. I dont know anything about emotiva nor do I understand what the real function of the UMC is to me it seems to be a AVR but I'm not sure?

  4. I wouldn't mind going separates however my current TV doesn't have enough HDMI outputs (2) I really need 4. This is why I was thinking of going the AVR route for the time being. I have some time as my wife has really gotten used to the forte's II's in the living room so I have the KLF 20's hooked up in my room with the peach and MC 2105.

  5. I just picked this up yesterday so I don't have much saddle time with it yet, I've cycled through the disc 3 or 4 times. This one is more like the 2 and 3rd records not as much "programming" sounds as in sci-fi crimes, a hella lot of good riffs on this record. I recommend it if you are a chevelle fan.

  6. I asked this over in the 2 channel area but not much luck, hoping there are more KLF owners over here that can help out.

    I'm currently in the market for a set of KLF 20's or 30's. Why well just because I want a pair lol. Anyway these will be moved into the living room and will be used mostly for TV shows and movie watching with occasional music when the wife isn't around and I can crank them :). I currently have a set of Hii's with a SVS PB10 sub. My question is what receiver would be a good fit with the KLF's? I will need 4 HDMI inputs, budget of 400.00 and I only plan on having a 5.1 surround system.

  7. My story told before but hey what the heck. I had a roommate in college who was a nephew of the klipsch family. He brought in 2 k-horns with 2 heresy's I don't remember the tuner he had. Anyway I was looking at these big ole things and I was like what the heck is that. He says to me its my uncles speakers! Then he brought in these "little" speakers and I was amazed that he had 4 speakers because at the time all I had was a cheap boombox. Anyway he proceeded to run the wire and get everything hooked up. Threw some Bad Company "Rock Steady" actually into the CD player. He told me to stand right here which I guess was the middle part of the room, lastly he said welcome to the best speaker ever made and he hit the play button and turned the volume dial.....holy *** is all I remember. I had never heard anything like that sound before and I was completly blown away. Needless to say that semester was fun to say the least, sure wish I would have kept in touch with him. Anyway that is how i was introduced to Klipsch and to the cops as we got lots of "disturbing the peace" warnings!!

  8. Nothing fancy here. Sony ES receiver 120 watts per channel.

    Can anyone else recommend a receiver? The system this will replace is my living room system in my signature. I'm going this weekend to look at a set and most likely purchase so I need something to hook these babies up to when I get home!! Your recommendations are appreciated.

    Budget = 450.00

    Must have 4 HDMI outputs

    I'll only have the 2 KLF's and maybe the sub at this time, Center and 2 surrounds way down the road (Mid Spring).

    70% TV

    20%Movies

    10% Music
