  1. I paid $320 for the unit with shipping cost included($60.00)

I haven't tried the master reset yet like Gnote suggested ...only because it took quite a bit of time to go through the complete system setup program. If it gets to be a pita for me and I have the extra time - I'll give that a shot.

Other than that I like the unit very much ...it definetly has enough *** for making my Belles sound great.

  2. After just purchasing my AVR-3805 and getting everything setup yesterday ...one of the things I'm not fond about is the display on the front of the unit goes out after 2-3 seconds after a function was performed or volume was turned up, etc. I have looked through the manual twice and can't find anywhere where it explains how to enable the display to stay lit and not turn off.

Anyone have one of these awesome sounding AVR's with the same issue ?

Is there a setting I just can't figure out or find ?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Butch

  3. The search is over ...I've been looking for a long time and finally found a pair just down the road from me. (No Shipping)

After I hooked them up in my living room and replaced my Heresys - I found that the Yamaha AVR I've been using just don't cut it.

Looking for a nice AVR - any suggestions that would work good for my setup ? Trying not to go to an amp/preamp setup, but will if I have to.

Right now I have a Cerwin Vega center channel and two Cerwin Vega subs with two Cerwin Vega rears.

  4. I have a guy at work that is selling a pair of Polks and tells me that they would blow my LaScalas away ...

I have never heard a pair of these before and just wondering if he is blowing wind or are these as awesome as he says.

I'm just curious ...being that he is asking $500 for the pair and I'm seriously thinking of buying another pair of LaScalas in the next week or two.

  5. In reading this post ...I went into my itunes library and noticed that 95% of my music was at 256kbps. Is that where it should be ? If not, how would I change it without having to download over 1000 songs all over again ?

I am fairly new to this whole deal - but noticed that some music played back from my ipod touch sounds much different from other tracks.

As an example: I downloaded the Fleetwood Mac Rumours cd onto my ipod touch and the volume is much decreased than other tracks - what is the deal with that - it is at 256kbps as well

    Any thoughts ???

  6. I have a ADM Soundshaper 910 Automatic Computerized Equalizer / Analyzer

Looking for the operators manual for this specific unit. I have tried searching on this unit and can't come up with anything.

Does anyone have any ideas where I might find this ?

Here's a picture of the unit.

  7. Thanks for all the warm welcomes guys !

I gotta tell you though ... I'm not hearing as huge of a difference from the Cerwin Vega DX-7 I just swapped out for the Heresys that I thought I was. Maybe I need to upgrade my Yamaha home theater receiver ....

Also, anyone have another way of verifying the age of my LaScalas other than the serial no. ? The serial no. are so faded off the tag that you can't read it. The person I bought them from 5 years ago told me he was the original owner and had purchased them in 1978.

  8. Although sometimes I am cautious of Craigslist ....

I had some extra time yesterday surfing around and came across a guy that was selling a complete audio system for $500.00

What caught my eye was the word KLIPSCH in the description of items he was selling. I contacted him to find out the speakers he was including in his sale were a pair of Heresys. Of course I wasn't interested in the other items at all and asked if he was interested in selling the speakers seperately. He said for the right price he would let them go. When I arrived to take a look at the speakers they were in pristine condition. Serial no. 8422105 and 8422106 (if someone could verify for me - but I believe they were built in 1984) He wasn't able to hook them up so that I could take a listen - but in looking at these I thought what the hell I'll take the chance. I offered him $200.00 and he agreed and took the cash. When I got home to hook these up - they sounded just as I remembered them sounding like from 20 + years ago. They don't have the kick in the chest feeling as the LaScalas I have in my toy garage ....but well worth the $200.00. I replaced the (2) Cerwin Vega DX-7 speakers I had setup for my home theater with these Heresys. Now just looking for a set of stands for them.
