  3. My friend just bought a pair and they sound "close" to my 4.1's but they are lacking in highs and the sweet vocal midrange that Klipsch has in thier tweeter. Bass is acceptable but agian no where near the punch that the twin subs have. The subwoofer unit gets hot just like Klipsch... amplification + volume = "heat" its physics people. Nice try Logitech, but no cigar.. 4.1's rule PERIOD. ------------------ Logitech This message has been edited by renegade on 10-27-2001 at 04:42 PM

  14. Yes they are rubbery and are a very inferior choice for these great sounding speakers, pots wear out and they are dated technology. I would like to see something like a digital gain used in future models. I set mine at 1:00 and LEAVE IT and use my volume slider on my soundcard to avoid wearing them out, go down to your local Best Buys or Comp USA and bend the knobs around like your going to break them off and you will start to hear static. *laughs* as for the control pod being remounted like under your desk or what not.. it can be done but it may affect your warranty =( I always buy the newest speakers from Klipsch every time they introduce a new product, so again im not concerned with the warranty i just swap mine out at the store.
  15. i have muted out everything in my soundblaster mixer except the spif in and yes it gets rid of the noise from the SOUND CARD but what im saying is after awhile the front and rear channels develop a noise when no source material is present, i removed the Din plug coming from the sound card and sure enough the sound remained, the new 4.1 amp or crossovers is the likely culprit as i did not notice this anomaly on my 400 v.2. l8terz....
  16. rap music will bottom out ANY woofer
  17. tools and supplies: 4 empty thread spools about 1 or 1.5 inches, hot glue gun. Apply a liberal amount to the spools doing 1 at a time and press and hold for 10 seconds to the bass port end at the outer corners so you will have the port firing down and the cords and speaker wires at the top for better cooling and less heat build up "in theory" place your unit in a corner on carpet if possible and i can guarantee you WILL wonder why you didnt think of this idea before, the bass is not only more intense at all volume levels it saves space and and it really maximizes the efficiency of the subs & you may have to turn down the gain on the subs!. Note: as the previous owner of the V.2 400's the effect was more intense than my 4.1's, subtle but you had to strain your ears to hear the difference IMHO the so called "improved" crossover transmit more line noise to the speakers *cough* left channel front and rear *cough* if it was interference coming from the wires in the walls you would hear it at ALL 4 speakers. (you can remove them easily "the spools" with no damage to the finish to the unit). I do not see how this would have an effect on your warranty at all..Somebody experiment and try it and post your findings thanks!
  18. well my brother sets up klipsch and Jbl speakers along with Crown amps for AMC theaters, and he told me you can run pink noise if you want but he does not he said speakers will break in on there own with regular useage and it takes the speakers and horns at least 6 months to "peak out" sound there best.
  19. Both front and rear left channels have high frequency noise emitting from horns, very faint but i can hear it at idle!
