  1. Wow. Invalidbuffalo, I had no idea that that had happened. I knew there was more vibration than what I heard on my first set of LaScalas, but I never suspected that the guy the guy who did the mods wouldn't have the sense to actually secure the woofers. I am glad you were more inquisitive than I was during my 5 months of ownership. Here's to you. Cheers.
  2. Well hi there Invalidbuffalo. I was just thinking tonight that I would send you an email to see how you like my former LaScalas. It sounds like you are not disappointed with them. My feeling is that the Crites 125 tweeters are certainly smoother and slightly less harsh than the Klipsch tweeters. I am very glad you are happy with them and that someone purchased them who appreciates all the upgrades. Talk to you later, Dale.
  3. Well, I can't stand the abusiveness that I have seen Greg, others and myself subject to on this forum. I have watched what some 'regulars' have done to Greg. In fact I have done extensive research of this forum for just that purpose since I started communicating with Greg last Fall. I will not name names, but I was harrassed by some regulars last December when I was expressing happiness and surprise when I was able to purchase a fully modded LaScala for relatively little. I let these forum members push me and they did nothing to cease and desist. I finally went to Amy Unger with a vengenance and she deleted the extensive post in question, and also posted an unmissable note on the main page that warned members about this kind of behavior. And no, I will not give Speakerfritz an easy out like that. This post stands. If I find anymore of this kind of behavior I will back with a vengenance talking to Amy once again. And this time some people will be asked to leave. This forum has members who are 'envious dogs'. Oh dear god that someone should aspire to better than a damn $750-1200 pair of LaScalas. Speakerfritz, I ask you once again sir.....Have you heard the Vittoras? Obviously not. It makes LaScalas look and most certainly sound, like a pile of garbage. The Vittoras are not an entry level loudspeaker. They are not even a mid fi loudspeaker. They are highend. I watched my pennies for years until I was able to take a chance on what I thought would satisfy my 'ears'. And the Vittoras most certainly have. And they look F***ing hot doing it. Knock off the abusive rants, please.
  4. I have the tweeter running at the higher setting. I thought some might be interested hearing about what is out there. Below is one last photo of the entire crossover which came with my Vittoras, they are the 'split' style.
  5. The tweeter can be run as set by Volti Audio, or you are able to raise the tweeter output by 3dB with the simple removal of 2 resistors from the underside of the high frequency board.
  6. On the higher frequency board, the midrange has 28 gradations that go from 0 dB down to -21dB. This is simply wonderful. I immediately discovered that fully open was way too much. I then tried Volti Audio's suggestion and lowered it to the setting for -9 dB. That drastically improved the depth and overall quality of the soundstage. Today I tried the lowest setting, -21 dB, but that was just plain too much. Below is a photo of the high frequency driver so you can picture how easy this is to do.
  7. And this setting is for the least midbass.
  8. This setting is for the 'medium' midbass setting.
  9. Hello. Last weekend I posted pictures and initial impressions about the new Vittoras I had just received from Volti Audio. I thought you might like a look at the marvelous crossovers that Volti Audio uses and the incredible versatility they give you with these types of horn loudspeaker systems. I wish all manufacturers would give you this ability to tailor the sound more to your own personal taste, with engineering standards of course. For the midbass there are 3 settings. Below is the setting for the most midbass.
  10. I had a modified Cornwall with the Selenium drivers, 2380 horns and Crites 500/5000 crossover. It did not require anymore power than my LaScala or Cornwall. My understanding of electronics is darn small, but the Cornscala is nothing different from a Cornwall than an equally efficent compression driver. The Cornwall a lower efficency than the LaScala and it still produces a SPL of 100dB.
  11. I certainly have to say that Greg Roberts and Volti Audio do a bang up job. Thanks Greg!!! Cheers.
  12. I certainly can't forget the outrageous crossovers.
  13. Ooops, I repeated myself. Well here is another shot.
  14. Hello all. Late last week I received my Volti Audio Vittoras from Greg Roberts. I must say I am very, very happy. This is the first speaker system that I have heard that actually invites me to sit down and listen. The midrange is clear, appropriately detailed and well dispersed into the room. I understand he uses a horn flare called tractrix. I love acoustic bass and the Vittoras create a cello in my livingroom. I have heard speaker system that recreate the cello and upright bass but not actually bring the bass instrument into my livingroom for me to enjoy. I am just pleased as punch with overall sound, warm and detailed is the best way I can sum their sound up. Oh, and the Koa veener finish is splendid. I will share some photos. Cheers, Dale.
