  1. You are going to love this preamp with the upgraded phono stage! I had a BBX (which I loved btw) prior to this pre and this one betters it in every area. I went with the Cardas caps I think and am very pleased with it paired with my VRD's. It's a match made in heaven! :)

  2. Ron, another huge Gator fan here! Since Urban left they've been pretty tough to watch. Jeff Driskel is from Oviedo and has showed some promise, but they were awful with everybody else behind the center.

How about UCF beating Baylor pretty convincingly last night with our other boy from Oviedo (Blake Bortles)? That's who I really wish went to Florida. He's got a lot of game, and is a winner. Check out all the close games they won this year. Yeah, they aren't in a big conference, but they beat Penn State on the road, Louisville on the road, and should of beaten South Carolina (lost by 3). I hope he stays and plays one more year! They will be a very good football team next year if he is still there.

  3. I'm not sure of your budget, but I would look no further than Craig's NBS! Of course I'm biased, but it is a truly world class preamp for the money. It's all about the phono, and delivers in spades. There are a few of us on here who have it, and I'm sure they would all agree with me...

  4. Have to ask, why did you sell your Scott amp? I find it's a match made in heaven with the Klipsch Heritage speakers. Did it put off too much heat for your room?

I just never played the Scott that much in the apt. When I'm at home in FL, I love futzing with my tube gear and vinyl, but in DC I just want to turn something on, throw in a cd and forget it. It was a nice match, but I'm looking for something thats simple to use and doesn't take any time to warm up.

  5. I have a very nice Denon PMA 2000R Integrated amp. It's a really nice amp but I have been in the mode of paring down everything but what I absolutely am using. This amp is a true dual mono design with seperate power supplies, etc and the build quality is quite good.

    I believe the output is 80 wpc @ 8 ohms and 160 wpc @ 4 ohms (as I understand it that's a good thing).

I'd like to get $400 for it. I am at work and don't have pictures but there are quite a few on the internet. My unit is black.

Do you still have the remote? How about the original box and manual?

  6. Jay,

I'm curious why you are selling these. I have the entire Music Matters set, and all with the same SN (248 I think), and have only opened the first 2. It was supposed to just be 63 LP's I believe, but has continued on with additional Blue Note releases, and I now think there are over 100 in the series. I wish it would have stopped at the original 63. I have called them a couple of times as to when they are stopping, and I don't think they even know.

  7. Ben,

Sorry to hear about this. You have a lot of great gear, and I would be interested in it if I were in a little better shape financially myself. I am interested in the VPI 16.5 (depending on the price), and would be interested in your vinyl but I doubt I could do the whole lot, plus I live in FL.

  8. I recently sold my Scott 299D and am in the market for a modest priced ($250) integrated amp or receiver for a 2-ch system for my apt in VA. I only have one source (Denon 3910) and the speakers are Decorator Heresy's. I do not require a lot of power due to apt living, but would still like the quality to be decent at lower listening levels.

I had an HK-730 that I liked a lot, and now have a Luxman LV-117 driving a pair of KP-201's in the Florida home (which I love btw), and might be looking for something along those lines. The 3910 does not play Blu-Rays (only DVD's and CD's), and therefore really don't see the need for having digital/hdmi inputs, but won't rule anything out either.

Again, I'm not trying to break the bank. Just looking for a quality unit that I can enjoy watching movies and listening to CD's with. Apt is located in northern VA.

    Thanks,

    Mike
