  1. That wad a good move. The 62 is a BIG step up from the 52! Big. Well done.
  2. Question for you. How much were your blue Jean cables? I love monoprice but I don't live the stiffness of the cables. Also what did the attenuators actually do gor the noise and did it hurt the sound quality?
  3. Subwoofers and center channel are the most important speakers in your set up. Sub's can go super high in price. Room size is a key factor on which sub to choose. Based on what you suggested on buying I can reccomend a couple of low priced sub's that will sound nice (not nessasarily gonna fill your room though). My budget friendly suggestion is a Polk psw505, or a klipsch rw 10d, often under $200 on newegg. A step up would be a paradigm dsp 3100 or klipsch rw 12d. $300-$375 range. Neither will hit harder than the Polk but they will be cleaner. A further step up would be an elemental designs a2-300 or even further up an a5-350. The a5 being significantly higher in price $800 shipped.... now these are just sub's I have personally listened to. There are obviously thousands more out there but I don't like to give advice about products I have not listened to.
  4. Or an AVR (audio video receiver)..... I run an onkyo 509 in my livingroom right now. Budget friendly and lots of features. Like $200. If you want to step up to a much more home theatre friendly unit then the onkyo 709 can be had for $499 shipped. Selecting an avr with preouts would help if you ever wanted to add an external amp in the future.
  5. Ok, first question is how big is your room? The RF series is an upgrade over synergy in general but the RF42's are very small and will not provide near the presence of the 6.5 inch synergy drivers. (I started with f-2's and a c-2). The RF series is more refined with more clarity than the synergy but the synergy is still a great speaker IMO. Second question is are you planning on upgrading in the future? If you are then get the rb51ii's. You'll be able up move those to rear surround duty should u ever want to upgrade your mains. 3rd question is are you willing to go used? I can build you a much better system than what your looking at through the garage sale section and audiogon classifieds. Lastly how much room do you have for these speakers? I'm guessing you have a decent amount. The f-20's are much larger than the rf42's. Have you looked at the rf62 system? To me the rf62 setup is best bang for the buck.
  6. Any idea if they work together when using multiples?
  7. So can this thing eq 4 sub's? Or 2 even? Does this unit stay installed the whole time or is it just a one time eq and your done?
  8. Well the problem is the waves are not going away unless u turn off the sub. Only way to solve all rattling is to pad and secure stuff. I went around my room with expanding foam, double sided tape, and silicone. Pretty quiet now but not perfect.
  9. The thing that scares me a little is that for $1400 I can get the top of the line onkyo. But the $1400 Denon is not their flagship model. I wonder if I'm getting less for the money?
  10. Yeah I hate the series 3 reference grills. Awful design. The series iv are great. The series v are good too but I don't like the half grills on the 7ii's. I never put my grills on from the beginning.
  11. Actually I did take a look at the vtf-15h. Thought alot about it because it has the ability to sort of eq itself with port blocking and so forth. I am looking for a little more depth out of a sub and those seem to be able to provide that. The ULS-15 is the one I was talking about. You Dort of made my Point when you said that 2 would be good. I just don't see me spending that much on 2 subs before trying the a7-450 or a7-350. Now if someone was selling s discounted pair then for sure would like to try them
  12. ...., unfortunately I understand that. The digms don't sound bad at all. But if I could improve them with some eq then all the better. I have looked at all the other ID sub companies. I don't like the epik design and I find it odd they came and went with so many different models. The fact that they have left the discontinued model on their front page for so long is just very strange. SVS pb13 ultra would be great if it was like $1200 and not $2k. HSU has a nice 15 inch box. What scares me about it is the fact that they sell them in pairs, triples, and quads, makes me think they just don't have the out put I expect out of a sub in that price range. I feel (maybe because of experience) that eD really does offer alot for the money (when the qualty is up to snuff). I have been lurking the used markets for those subs as well but just not much out there. Maybe that means people are happy with them? Could be a good sign.
  13. I'm afraid you may be right. The only thing that intrigues me is the ability to eq 2 subs. Since I swapped out my eD subs I have not been fully satisfied with the bass in my room. I was even considering going back to eD (and I really didn't want to do that because of quality control issues I have had with them).
  14. Anyone own one? Curious to read some reviews. I loved the a5-350's.
  15. Never seen a sub with an RCA cable included. Also monoprice is the bomb. Shipping to east coast is a little long but everything is quality and inexpensive.
  16. Well I watched limitless and super 8. Both good movies. I also watched the IMAX hubble film for a 2nd and 3rd time. The shuttle Atlantis launch is amazing for LFE. Anyway. I like the 709..... However it just isn't an improvement over my HT RC180. I wish it was. Now don't get me wrong, I like it alot. The movies I watched sounded great. Just cant hear a difference from my rc180. So, where does that leave me? There's only 1 higher version of audyssey for me to try (besides pro nezff) and that's xt32. It makes sense since I run 2 subs. So the options are onkyo 3008/5008/5508 or Denon 4311.... Or I wait for the outlaw 978? Lol jk about that. Honestly all 4 I am thinking about seem great and are about the same price (except the 3008). I don't want to get into a processor / avr debate here either (although I would like to know what the "pro" is all about nezff). So where do I go? Which do I choose? Is xt32 worth $900 more than XT? Hmmm help please.
  17. Yeah I put my 3400's on gel mats to reduce vibration. Worked like a charm.
  18. Ok just finished super 8. Decent movie. But let's be honest "the case" was way better! Lol The bass was good but the surround was very good. Also if u like very loud surprising and sudden bass then you'll love it! the crunching metal and breaking glass was super harsh and not at all laid back. This is another example of a quality true HD film. Also if your not squeamish and like true HD watch "I spit on your grave"
  19. For a while now I have been looking at the 3008 and 5008. I pretty much know all about them. I've owned 4 onkyo's including an onkyo 3007 so I know what they sound like. I have never owned or heard a Denon. Since the 4311 has multi eq XT 32 (that's what I want) and it's price is the same as the 5008 i am intrested. Any thoughts on the Denon or how it compares to the onkyo's would be appreciated. I'm gonna do some research but I kinda wanted some first hand info. Thanks
