  1. I didn't think the sound was so great. Basically all wind and cannonballs
  2. Well I ordered an onkyo tx nr3007 last night. It has everything I want in an avr and more. I thought about the sc5508 but didn't want to spend $3000 right now. The 3007 allows me to wait a few months before purchasing an amp. I plan on getting an xpa-5 and powering the high rear surrounds with the onkyo. I'm coming from the sr608 so this should be a big improvement on it's own. I have the subs I want and the center channel as well. The fronts could be upgraded but I am gonna get electronics completed with the current setup and see how it sounds. I do have my 62ii's for sale so that plan could change if they sell. Really looking forward to trying out the new system.
  3. Not sure where to take my system next. I have missed out on a couple sets of speakers in the last month or so and it's got me thinking. Where should I take my system next? Electronics upgrade or new fronts? Specifically rf7ii's ($1700) with an xpa-5 and avr for like $500? Or the xpa-5, keep my rf62ii's, and spend like $1500 on a preamp or avr?
  4. Not so fast. The store just called me back today and said their stock was off. They are all out of the 63's! Dang
  5. Well after striking out on set of rf83's I decided to jump in on a set of rf63's. $1058 brand new shipped in black. I'll post pics when they arrive. Can't wait to compare them to the rf62ii's.
  6. Lol thanks for the reply. I ended up buying dual eD A5-350's !
  7. Thought about the UMC-1 but the reviews are not great. Some like it and some don't. I have an Onkyo now and like it so I feel Comfortable with the onkyo's. I will be getting an amp in the future so I want the preouts. Wondering if I can save some cash by going with the cheaper ace and not notice a huge difference in sound quality?
  8. 3008 for $1150 or 707 for $410? Home theatre use only. Thoughts?
  9. Does the type of processing in an avr greatly affect the video output of cable and BD? I will be using hdmi only so component upscaling and DVD upscaling mean nothing to me. I only watch hd cable and BD's and some computer gaming. Will say an onkyo nr3008 make the video look better than an onkyo nr708? Thanks
  10. U can get the pink foam 4foot x 8foot from home depot for $9. Also bubble wrap from hd or staples works in addition to the stiff foam. Of course some type of soft underlayment between the foam and wood
  11. When set up my projector I used the George Lucas thx setup. It's on the menu section of all his movies.
  12. Nope. Klipsch will you that the rc62ii will be fine with the rf52ii's. Advice from a former owner.... Skip the rc52ii.
  13. I too have a lot of concrete. Add a couple of throw rugs, some big fluffy pillows, thick drapes for windows, full dress for bed, and that will help alleviate some of your acoustic issues if any and show her that you have a decorative side to your many other talents. Just one suggestion about the gear, if you see a great deal on an RC-64, ****** it up if possible. While the RC-62 works just fine with the RF-63's(I had one before my 64), the RC-64 will truly complete the front soundstage. It is a different animal. Yea, the rc-64 is on my wishlist. Its hard to find the mark 1 now. Hows the mark 2 for the rf-63? This summer me and my girlfriend are taking a three week trip to the US, and there goes all my savings But the beast rc-64 looks great and i have my eyes open towards the used market. The mark 1 rc64 is available on audiogon right now. Decent price too
  14. I agree with subx. As a former rc 52ii owner that was not wowed by it's performance. My c-3 was better. My rc 64ii does not compare. I have heard the 62ii is a good mid point between the 52II and 64ii. there is also a used mint 62ii in the garage sale right for $350, that's just a little more than a new 52ii.
  15. Willand. I am probably over analyzing this decision ( Internet shopping will lead to that). I'll probably go with the nr707 for $400 and then I'll look at those amps you suggested. I was gonna pair it with an emotiva xpa-5. What do you think of that amp?
  16. It's weird how similar the onkyo models are. Pretty sure I don't need an Rs 232 connection! Lol
  17. Yeah I'm not sure about that either. I have heard nothing but good things about assesories4less so I'm gonna buy from them.
  18. Trying hard to pick out an onkyo with preouts. I compared the nr708, nr709, nr808, rc 270, and rc370 on onkyo's website. Besides the power per channel there is no difference in specs that I care about. Since I'll be using a 5 channel amp the ppc does not matter to me either. The rc270 is under $400 on assesories4less and the others go up in price from there. Wondering if anyone has owned one of these units. Is there some reason I'm not seeing to go higher end? I am 100% home theatre.
  19. Yeah I'm 100% home theatre. I called onkyo this morning. They said the lowest priced unit they have with preouts is the 5.1 nr509.. The nr609 is the 7 channel option. Both pretty cheap. I'm wondering if I would be better off going with a 2 year old version like the 707?
  20. I guess I'd like to spend under under $1500. The xpa 5 is $900 I think and the 3 is $700. So that leaves about $600-$800 for the avr
  21. The onkyo is $50 more than the UMC. Don't care about streaming music. Is the onkyo worth the extra money? I am going to buy an external amp. The onkyo allows me to buy a 3 channel where the UMC makes me go 5 channel. The amp price difference is $200. Should I buy one of these or Should I go higher end with onkyo?
  22. I have been on this forum for less than a year now. I have owned 5 different front speakers and 5 different center speakers. I have asked questions about many different fronts and centers as well. So back to the title of the post. The best thing about Klipsch is fact that they have multiple "Best" speakers. Rf 7ii's, rf 83's, all the heritage pieces. Nobody can seem to decide which is best. Or maybe some are best for one thing and others are best for something else? Anyway you look at it Klipsch seems to have plenty if choices if your looking fir "the best"
  23. Sorry guys didn't mean it like that at all. Just giving the OP an opinion on the speakers from a current owner. I can delete that line so nobody gets upset. Didn't intend to come across as though the previous post was inappropriate. His opinion is that the f-30's are a waste of money. I just happen to disagree is all. ...... Blubitrate: I was just letting him know how inexpensive the rf speakers can be if he decided to go that route. Is that somehow inappropriate?
